The introduction of antibiotic-resistant bacteria into riverine systems through the discharge of wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) effluent and agricultural waste poses significant health risks. Even when not pathogenic, these bacteria can act as reservoirs for antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), transferring them to pathogens that infect humans and animals. In this study, we used fluorescence hybridization, qPCR, and metagenomics to investigate how anthropogenic activities affect microbial abundance and the resistome along the Holtemme River, a small river in Germany, from near-pristine to human-impacted sites.

Prior research has documented a high incidence of long-term complications following PD, which significantly impact patient prognosis and survival, however, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Evidence from previous studies suggests that biliary-intestinal anastomosis modifies biliary tract anatomy, altering bile flow into the gut and potentially affecting the gut microbiota and its metabolites.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the effects of aerobic exercise on reactive inhibitory control in college students with internet addiction, examining both behavioral and electrophysiological changes over time.
Methods: A longitudinal study design was adopted, involving 48 male college students with internet addiction who were randomly assigned to either a control group or an experimental group. Participants in the experimental group engaged in 40 min aerobic cycling sessions three times per week for 12 weeks, while the control group maintained their usual physical activity levels without any intervention.
