Objective: This study aims to develop a dual-ligand-modified targeted drug delivery system by integrating photosensitizers and chemotherapeutic drugs to enhance anti-glioma effects. The system is designed to overcome the blood-brain barrier (BBB) that hinders effective drug delivery, increase drug accumulation in glioma cells, and thereby enhance therapeutic efficacy.
Methods: Liposomes were prepared using the film dispersion-ammonium sulfate gradient technique, co-loading the photosensitizer indocyanine green (ICG) and the chemotherapeutic drug mitoxantrone (MTO).

Functional materials, possessing specific properties and performing particular functions beyond their mechanical or structural roles, are the foundation of modern matter science including energy, environment, and quantum sciences. The atomic and electronic structures of these materials can be significantly altered by external stimuli such as pressure. High-pressure techniques have been extensively utilized to deepen our understanding of structure-property relationships of materials, while also enabling emergent or enhanced properties.

Furthering the field of synthetic organic chemistry from the discrete molecules regime to the extended structure regime, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) represent a new genre of crystalline porous materials featuring designability with molecular-level precision, well-defined porosity, and exceptional stability imparted by the robust covalent linkages reticulating organic molecules. The topology of COFs is a principal feature that regulates their functionality and usability for emerging technologies. Profound comprehension of network topologies and maneuvering them toward targeted applications are crucial to advancing the realm of COF research and developing novel functional materials for exciting breakthroughs.

Borenium ions have attracted significant attention in organic transformations due to their strong Lewis acidity. The reported borenium ions are often stabilized by sterically demanding substituents and strong coordination bonds. Herein, we have synthesized a small steric borenium-equivalent NHBHOTf and subjected it to the exhaustive reduction of a carboxylic functional group to a methyl group, which shows broad functional group tolerance.

Ternary solar cells have been rapidly developed in the realm of organic solar cells (OSCs). The incorporation of a third component into a cell results in a complicated active layer morphology, and the relation of this morphology to power conversion efficiency remains elusive. In this work, two ternary active layers, B1:Y7 (10 wt%):BO-4Cl and B1:Y7 (50 wt%):BO-4Cl are constructed, and the reasons for the differences in PCE caused by varying the Y7 content are investigated using theoretical calculations.

The formation of inclusion complexes between Ginsenoside Rg3 and cyclodextrins represents a promising strategy to enhance the solubility of G-Rg3. Nevertheless, the molecular mechanisms underlying the interaction between G-Rg3 and cyclodextrins have yet to be fully elucidated. In this study, we employed a combination of molecular simulation and experimental methodologies to identify the most effective solubilizing carriers among G-Rg3, β-cyclodextrin (β-CD), 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD), and 2,6-dimethyl-β-cyclodextrin (DM-β-CD).

A variety of α-arylated sulfoxonium ylides could be facilely synthesized in modest to high yields through α-arylation of sulfoxonium ylides with aryl fluorosulfates C-O bond functionalization under palladium catalysis. Reactions using readily available and bench-stable aryl fluorosulfates as effective and appealing arylating agents showed both good substrate scope and broad functionality tolerance. Important functional groups such as nitro, cyano, formyl, acetyl, methoxycarbonyl, trifluoromethoxy, fluoro, and chloro embedded in substrates remained intact during the course of the reaction, and could be subjected to downstream modification.

How different stress responses by male and female plants are influenced by interactions with rhizosphere microbes remains unclear. In this study, we employed poplar as a dioecious model plant and quantified biotic associations between microorganisms to explore the relationship between microbial associations and plant adaptation. We propose a health index (HI) to comprehensively characterize the physiological characteristics and adaptive capacity of plants under stress.

The use of magnesium and methanol in the reduction of various functional groups has been well established. In this study, we present a reductive deuteration system using Mg/CHOD, which successfully facilitates the conversion of α,β-unsaturated esters, amides, and nitriles to their saturated counterparts. This protocol achieves good yields and high degrees of deuterium incorporation, while avoiding defunctionalization in the presence of various functional groups.

Due to a lack of high-quality water, farmers have been compelled to use sewage water for irrigation, contaminating agricultural soils with multiple heavy metals. For the remediation of contaminated soil, plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), pressmud (PM), and iron (III) oxide were used to improve the growth and phytostabilization potential of chickpea grown in contaminated soil. Contaminated soil was collected from a nearby field, receiving sewage and factory water over the last 60 years.

Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), characterized by the deposition of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides in the walls of medium and small vessels of the brain and leptomeninges, is a major cause of lobar hemorrhage in elderly individuals. Among the genetic risk factors for CAA that continue to be recognized, the apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene is the most significant and prevalent, as its variants have been implicated in more than half of all patients with CAA. While the presence of the APOE ε4 allele markedly increases the risk of CAA, the ε2 allele confers a protective effect relative to the common ε3 allele.

The integration of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with functional materials has established a versatile platform for a wide range of energy storage applications. Due to their large specific surface area, high porosity, and tunable structural properties, MOFs hold significant promise as components in energy storage systems, including electrodes, electrolytes, and separators for alkali metal-ion batteries (AIBs). Although lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are widely used, their commercial graphite anode materials are nearing their theoretical capacity limits, and the scarcity of lithium and cobalt resources increases costs.

Exploring host-guest interactions to regulate hydrogen-bonding assembly offers a promising approach for developing advanced porous crystal materials (PCMs). However, screening compatible guests with appropriate geometries and host-guest interactions that could inhibit the dense packing of building blocks remains a primary challenge. This study presents a novel guest-induced crystallization (GIC) strategy, guided by thermodynamic calculations, to develop porous hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) using structurally challenging tetrazole building units.
