Unlike other ubiquitin-like family members, UBL5 is structurally and functionally atypical, and a novel role in various biological processes and diseases has been discovered. UBL5 can stabilize the structure of the spliceosome, can promote post-transcriptional processing, and has been implicated in both DNA damage repair and protein unfolding reactions, as well as cellular mechanisms that are frequently exploited by viruses for their own proliferation during viral infections. In addition, UBL5 can inhibit viral infection by binding to the non-structural protein 3 of rice stripe virus and mediating its degradation.

Porcine rotavirus A (RVA) is one of the major etiological agents of diarrhea in piglets and constitutes a significant threat to the swine industry. A molecular epidemiological investigation was conducted on 2422 diarrhea samples from Chinese pig farms to enhance our understanding of the molecular epidemiology and evolutionary diversity of RVA. The findings revealed an average RVA positivity rate of 42% (943/2422), and the study included data from 26 provinces, primarily in the eastern, southern and southwestern regions.

Patchouli is a valuable medicinal herb and cash crop in China, but viral infections cause significant yield losses. Duck Tembusu virus (DTMUV), a novel positive-sense RNA virus, has caused significant economic losses in the poultry industry of Eastern and Southeast Asia since its outbreak in 2010. Furthermore, the rapid transmission and potential zoonotic nature of DTMUV pose a threat to public health safety. In this study, a 4D-DIA quantitative proteomics approach was employed to identify differentially expressed cellular proteins in DTMUV-infected DF-1 cells, which are routinely used for virus isolation and identification for DTMUV, as well as the development of vaccines against other poultry viruses.

The hepatitis B virus (HBV) infects approximately 290 million people globally, with chronic infection sustained by persistent viral gene expression. Recent single-cell analyses of HBV viral transcripts have uncovered novel features of HBV transcription and provided fresh insights into its regulation at the single-cell level. In this review, we summarize the latest advancements in understanding HBV viral transcription in individual hepatocytes and highlight emerging technologies that hold promise for future research.

Methods: A total of 1200 infants were randomly assigned to either the experimental PCV13i group or the control PCV13 group in a 1:1 ratio. Each group received a three-dose series of the vaccine at 2, 4, and 6 months of age, followed by a booster dose at 12-15 months.

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS), characterized by reproductive failures in breeding pigs and respiratory diseases in growing pigs, is a widespread and challenging disease. The agent, PRRSV, is a single-strand RNA virus that is undergoing continuous mutation and evolution, resulting in the global spread of multiple strains with different genetic characteristics and variable antigens.
