Adaptive dynamical networks are ubiquitous in real-world systems. This paper aims to explore the synchronization dynamics in networks of adaptive oscillators based on a paradigmatic system of adaptively coupled phase oscillators. Our numerical observations reveal the emergence of synchronization cluster bursting, characterized by periodic transitions between cluster synchronization and global synchronization.

Glutamate (Glu) is a crucial excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system that transmits brain information by activating excitatory receptors on neuronal membranes. Physiological studies have demonstrated that abnormal Glu metabolism in astrocytes is closely related to the pathogenesis of epilepsy. The astrocyte metabolism processes mainly involve the Glu uptake through astrocyte EAAT2, the Glu-glutamine (Gln) conversion, and the Glu release.

To evaluate the efficacy of human placental extract (HPE) eye drops compared to that of carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and human peripheral blood serum (HPBS) eye drops in a mouse model of experimental dry eye (EDE) and corneal alkali burns. EDE and alkali burn models were induced in C57BL/6 mice using desiccating stress and NaOH, respectively. In both the EDE and alkali burn models, treatment groups received CMC, HPBS, or HPE eye drops.

Astrocytes are abundant glial cells in the central nervous system (CNS) that play important roles in brain injury following cardiac arrest (CA). Following brain ischemia, astrocytes trigger endogenous neuroprotective mechanisms, such as fatty acid transport. Lipid droplets (LDs) are cellular structures involved in neutral lipid storage and play essential roles in many biological processes.

December 2024

Hunan Key Laboratory of Cancer Metabolism, Hunan Cancer Hospital and The Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University, Changsha, Hunan, 410013, China.

Purpose: Our study aims to develop and validate a novel molecular marker for the prognosis and diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) MATERIALS & METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed mRNA expression profile and clinicopathological data of HCC patients fetched from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and The International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) datasets. Univariate Cox regression analysis was performed to collect differentially expressed mRNA (DEmRNAs) from HCC and non-tumor tissues, and YEATS2, a prognostic marker, was identified by further analysis. ROC curve, survival analysis and multivariate Cox regression analysis as well as nomograms were used to evaluate the prognosis of this gene.
