Developing high-performance Ir-based catalysts for selective catalytic reduction of NOx by CO(CO-SCR) under low temperatures remains challenging. This study presents an Ir-based catalyst encapsulated in ZSM-5 (Ir@ZSM-5), with Ir species partially confined in micropores (Irδ+) and partially aggregated on the surface (Ir0), achieving ~88% NOx conversion at 230 °C in the presence of 5% O2 and 100 ppm SO2. The confined Irδ+ species exhibit enhanced stability and oxidized states, while surface-aggregated Ir0 species, with weaker oxygen coordination, remain in a metallic state.

Electric-Dipole Coupling Ion-Dipole Engineering Induced Rational Solvation-Desolvation Behavior for Constructing Stable Solid-State Lithium Metal Batteries.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

March 2025

Wuhan University of Technology, State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing, Wuhan University of Technology, 122 Luoshi Road, 430070, Wuhan, CHINA.

Solid-state polymer electrolytes (SPEs) with high ionic conductivity, a wide voltage window, and an ultra-stability electrolyte/electrode interface are essential for practical applications of solid lithium-metal batteries but particularly challenging. The key to overcoming these long-term obstacles lies in the rational design of the Li+ solvation-desolvation behavior in SPEs. Herein, we propose an electric-dipole coupling ion-dipole strategy to modulate the Li+ solvation structure and enhance Li+ desolvation kinetics.

Herein, we report a hydrogen-bonded supramolecular hybrid composed of a cobaloxime complex and a covalent organic framework (COF) that achieves photocatalytic overall water splitting. The designed COF features ternary units and dual linkages, which induce asymmetric linkers. Upon photoexcitation, this asymmetry facilitates directed electron transfer and spatially separated redox sites, resulting in a long-lived charge-separated state.

Photosynthesis of hydrogen peroxide from earth-abundant water and air over organo-based semiconducting materials is a promising alternative to the traditional anthraquinone (AQ) method. However, the generally hydrophobic nature of organic semiconductors has led to their poor dispersibilities in aqueous systems, which built huge barriers for photon capture and reactant contact in water-based photocatalysis. Aiming at this issue, this study reports the facile synthesis of AQ-based porous aromatic frameworks (AQ-PAFs) by coupling of AQ fragments with thiophene-derived linkers via robust carbon-carbon bonds.

α-Methyl Group Reinforced Amphiphilic Poly (ionic liquid) Additive for High-Performance Zinc-Iodine Batteries.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

March 2025

Donghua University, Department of Macromolecular Science, North Renmin Road 2999, 201620, Shanghai, CHINA.

Aqueous zinc-iodine (Zn-I2) batteries are prospective on energy storage, yet the practical application is severely hindered by side reactions of Zn metal and the shuttle effects for polyiodide. Herein, a polymer additive PVEMA was copolymerized by 1-vinyl-3-ethylimidazolium trifluoromethanesulfonate (VEImOTf) and methacrylamide (MAAm) to alleviate the above issues. The polymer chain of PVEMA endows amphipathic properties for Zn2+ diffusion and solvation structure regulation, and the α-methyl of MAAm enhances the hydrophobic properties to avoid side reactions on Zn metal.

A Titanium Silicalite-1 (TS-1) Catalyst with Abundant Active Ti-VI Species for Efficient Conversion of Ethylene to Glycol.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

March 2025

Dalian University of Technology, State Key Leb of Fine Chemicals, No 2 Linggong Road, Gaoxin District, 116024, Dalian, CHINA.

One-pot synthesis of glycol from ethylene and H2O2 is simple and environmentally friendly, making it a potential alternative for glycol production. The key to the success of this is to have a bifunctional catalyst with both oxidative activity for ethylene in the presence of H2O2 and acidic centers for the subsequent hydration of ethylene oxide. Here, we propose a dual-chemical post-treatment regime to introduce acid centers in TS-1 while simultaneously improve the oxidative activity.
