The role of tribbles homolog 2 in cell proliferation.

Tribbles homolog 2 (TRIB2), a pseudoserine/threonine kinase, is a member of the TRIB family. TRIB2 primarily regulates cell proliferation through its scaffold or adaptor effect on promoting the degradation of target proteins by E3 ligase-dependent ubiquitination and regulating mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and protein kinase B (AKT) signaling pathways. TRIB2 is not only involved in the physiological proliferation of cells (granulosa cells, myoblasts, naive T cells, and thymocytes) during normal development but also in the pathological proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells and a variety of cancer cells (lung cancer cells, liver cancer cells, leukemia cells, pancreatic cancer cells, gastric cancer cells, prostate cancer cells, thyroid cancer cells, cervical cancer cells, melanoma cells, colorectal cancer cells, ovarian cancer cells and osteosarcoma cells) under disease conditions.

Autophagy is essential for maintaining material balance and energy circulation and plays a critical role as a regulatory mechanism in tissue regeneration. However, current studies primarily describe this phenotype, with limited exploration of its molecular mechanisms. In this study, we provided the first evidence that autophagy is required for intestinal regeneration in Apostichopus japonicus and identified a previously unrecognized regulatory mechanism involved in this process.

Deep learning-based prediction of HER2 status and trastuzumab treatment efficacy of gastric adenocarcinoma based on morphological features.

Background: First-line treatment for advanced gastric adenocarcinoma (GAC) with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is trastuzumab combined with chemotherapy. In clinical practice, HER2 positivity is identified through immunohistochemistry (IHC) or fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), whereas deep learning (DL) can predict HER2 status based on tumor histopathological features. However, it remains uncertain whether these deep learning-derived features can predict the efficacy of anti-HER2 therapy.

Background: Proper torque control is crucial to the outcome of orthodontic treatment. This study aimed to employ finite element analysis to compare the torque capabilities of a novel spherical self-ligating bracket with a lock-hook system against those of commonly used passive self-ligating and conventional bracket systems, as well as to reveal the biomechanical changes in the periodontal ligament (PDL) during torque expression.

Therefore, the common mechanism of mitochondrial related genes (MRGs) and macrophage polarisation related genes (MPRGs) in DR is explored in our study to illustrate the pathophysiology of DR.

Graves' disease diagnosed nearly six months after microwave ablation of benign thyroid nodules: a case report.

Background: Microwave ablation is a new, minimally invasive technique for the treatment of thyroid nodules. Hyperthyroidism due to destructive thyroiditis is a known risk of microwave ablation, though it occurs in only a minority of cases. We report a rare case of a patient diagnosed with Graves' disease nearly six months after undergoing microwave ablation of a thyroid nodule.

Aim: This study aimed to assess the relationship between compulsory citizenship behavior and nurses' silence.

Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional online study was conducted in October 2023, targeting 402 nurses working in Yichang Central People's Hospital, Hubei Province, China. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire comprising demographic details, the Compulsory Citizenship Behavior Scale, and the Nurses' Silence Scale.

Background: Patients with simultaneous ruptures of the patellar tendon (PT) and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) underwent PT repair and ACL reconstruction in a single or staged surgery. Methods: Data on GI cancers were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021. Age-standardized incidence rates (ASIR) and age-standardized mortality rates (ASMR) were estimated across various states, sexes, ages, and risk factors, and annual percentage changes were calculated.

A study on the professional identity intervention of Chinese new nurses by Balint groups from the perspective of ABC theory of emotion-hong.

Objective: To explore the intervention effect of ABC theory on the professional identity and irrational beliefs of new Chinese nurses in Balint groups (BGs).

Methods: A total of 110 Chinese nurses newly recruited in August 2021 by a grade-A tertiary general hospital in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province were adopted as research objects. They were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, the experimental group spread out in groups to practice the BGs, and the control group did not have any intervention.

Purpose: The albumin-globulin ratio (AGR) influences the development of prostate cancer; however, the relationship between AGR and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) has not been reported.

Methods: This cross-sectional investigation used comprehensive AGR versus PSA data from men with 40 years of age and older, who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2003 to 2010, spanning 4 investigation cycles, as only these cycles contained complete PSA data. To evaluate the nonlinear relationship between the ARG and PSA level, a regression utilizing smoothed curve fitting (penalized spline approach) and a generalized additive model (GAM) were employed.

Methods: Primers targeting three specific genes (MPB64, CYP141, and IS6110) within the MTBC genome were designed. Multiplex PCR was conducted using DNA from the H37Rv strain as well as DNA extracted from fluids of confirmed tuberculosis patients to assess primer specificity and method feasibility.

Factors influencing changes in the quality of life of the Hainan migratory population with hypertension: a survey of the Chengmai mangrove bay community.

Background: Hainan is a tropical island in China with a large migratory population. Study have reported that the blood pressure of Hainan elderly hypertensive migratory population decreased significantly, which may be related to the improvement of environment and quality of life (QoL). Understanding the changes of QoL of these people before and after coming to Hainan and its influencing factors can provide a basis for the prevention and control of hypertension.

Background: Different anesthetic drugs and techniques may affect survival outcomes for gastric cancer (GC) after surgery. In this study, we investigated the association between sedated and unsedated gastroscopy on survival outcomes in patients with GC after surgery.

Methods: This was a retrospective study of patients who were diagnosed with GC by gastroscopy and underwent gastrectomy from January 2013 to December 2017.
