Methods: A total of 798 children with VSD surgery were enrolled, with NT-proBNP measured at preoperatively and 24-h postoperatively.

Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of the area reduction post-closure technique for bedside weaning of veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (V-A ECMO).

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted from December 2022 to November 2023, analyzing data from patients who underwent V-A ECMO weaning at our center. The area reduction post-closure technique, utilizing two ProGlide devices (Abbott Vascular, Santa Clara, CA), was adopted as a standard practice.

Methods: The clinical data of 209 consecutive patients who underwent PCI through the BA at Fu Wai Hospital between September 2019 and June 2024 were retrospectively collected. In group I, the brachial sheath was removed 4 h after the PCI procedure.

Background: Primary squamous cell carcinoma of the thyroid (PSCCT) has recently been reclassified as a morphologic pattern of anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC). Consequently, PSCCT and squamous cell carcinoma with papillary thyroid carcinoma (SCC-PTC) were categorized as ATC. However, in terms of clinical characteristics and overall prognosis, whether PSCCT is similar to SCC-PTC has yet to be sufficiently investigated.

Objective: We investigated whether the addition of a luteal phase support drug benefits pregnancy and perinatal outcomes in modified natural-cycle frozen-thawed embryo transfer (mNC-FET) for women up to the age of 35 years.

Methods: We analyzed the clinical data of 3658 mNC-FET cycles of women up to the age of 35 years from the Reproductive Center of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2018 to December 2020 in a retrospective cohort study. Background: Insulin resistance is tightly related to cognition; however, the causal association between them remains a matter of debate. Our investigation aims to establish the causal relationship and direction between insulin resistance and cognition, while also quantifying the mediating role of brain cortical structure in this association.

Methods: The publicly available data sources for insulin resistance (fasting insulin, homeostasis model assessment beta-cell function and homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance, proinsulin), brain cortical structure, and cognitive phenotypes (visual memory, reaction time) were obtained from the MAGIC, ENIGMA, and UK Biobank datasets, respectively.

Causal relationships between plasma lipidome and diabetic neuropathy: a Mendelian randomization study.

Background: Dyslipidemia is closely related to diabetic neuropathy. This study examined the potential causal relationship involving 179 lipid species and the disease.

Methods: The pooled data on 179 lipid species and diabetic neuropathy were obtained from previous genome-wide association studies (GWAS).

Background: Previous studies have shown that dyslipidemia is significantly associated with primary frozen shoulder and may be a risk factor for the development of primary frozen shoulder. However, these findings may be biased by a number of confounding factors. We investigated the association between serum lipids and primary frozen shoulder by retrospective analysis and two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) methods.

MicroRNAs in pancreatic cancer drug resistance: mechanisms and therapeutic potential.

Pancreatic cancer (PC) remains one of the most lethal malignancies, primarily due to its intrinsic resistance to conventional therapies. MicroRNAs (miRNAs), key regulators of gene expression, have been identified as crucial modulators of drug resistance mechanisms in this cancer type. This review synthesizes recent advancements in our understanding of how miRNAs influence treatment efficacy in PC.

Prevalence of chronic kidney disease among Chinese adults with diabetes: a nationwide population-based cross-sectional study.

Background: To date, comprehensive data on the distribution of chronic kidney disease (CKD), the most prevalent comorbidity in diabetes, among Chinese adults with diabetes is lacking. Additionally, research gaps exist in understanding the association between CKD and cardiovascular health (CVH), an integrated indicator of lifestyle and metabolic control, within a nationwide sample of Chinese adults with diabetes.

Consonant aspiration in Mandarin-speaking children: a developmental perspective from perception and production.

Introduction: This study investigates Mandarin-speaking children's acquisition of aspirated/unaspirated voiceless consonants in terms of perception and production, to track children's developmental profile and explore the factors that may affect their acquisition, as well as the possible association between perception and production.

Methods: Mandarin-speaking children ( = 95) aged 3-5 and adults ( = 20) participated in (1) a perception test designed based on the minimal pairs of unaspirated/aspirated consonants in the quiet and noisy conditions respectively; (2) a production test where participants produced the target words, with syllable-initial consonants focusing on aspiration and non-aspiration. Six pairs of unaspirated/aspirated consonants in Mandarin were included.
