Phenomenological Mapping: A Method For Understanding Pre-Reflective Consciousness.

Integr Psychol Behav Sci

December 2024

Universidad del Desarrollo, Santiago de Chile, Chile.

Exploring the nuanced and often elusive realm of pre-reflective consciousness presents a methodological challenge, as it involves capturing experiences that arise prior to reflective thought and language. This article introduces Phenomenological Mapping, an innovative research method designed to systematically study the pre-reflective dimensions of human experience. Grounded in the foundational theories of Edmund Husserl (2012), Maurice Merleau-Ponty (2013), and Martin Heidegger (1992, 2008), the approach also integrates contemporary perspectives from Dan Zahavi (1999, Contemporary Phenomenology and Qualitative Research 5(1), 1-17, 2021), Shaun Gallagher (2006, 2017), and Evan Thompson (2010, 2017).

Integrating Ecological Suitability and Socioeconomic Feasibility at Landscape Scale to Restore Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in Southern Chile.

Environ Manage

December 2024

Departamento de Ciencias de la Vida - UD Ecología, Edificio de Ciencias, Universidad de Alcalá, E-28805, Alcalá de Henares, Spain.

Deforestation and forest degradation are key drivers of biodiversity loss and global environmental change. Ecosystem restoration is recognized as a global priority to counter these processes. Forest restoration efforts have commonly adopted a predominantly ecological approach, without including broader socioeconomic variables and the characteristics of the rural context.

Laboratorio de Biotecnología y Estudios Ambientales, Departamento de Ciencias y Tecnología Vegetal, Escuela de Ciencias y Tecnologías, Universidad de Concepción, Campus Los Ángeles, 4440000, Concepción, Chile.

Colobanthus quitensis is known for enduring extreme conditions, such as high salinity in Antarctica, making it an excellent model for studying environmental stress. In plant families, variations in seed color heteromorphism have been linked to various germination under stress conditions. Preliminary laboratory observations indicated that dark brown seeds of C.

Structural inequality, the uneven distribution of resources and opportunities, influences health outcomes. However, the biological embedding of structural inequality in aging and dementia, especially among underrepresented populations, is unclear. We examined the association between structural inequality (country-level and state-level Gini indices) and brain volume and connectivity in 2,135 healthy controls, and individuals with Alzheimer's disease and frontotemporal lobe degeneration from Latin America and the United States.

Escuela de Ciencias de la Actividad Física, el Deporte y la Salud, Universidad de Santiago de Chile (USACH), Santiago, Chile.

Cardiometabolic risk factors such as obesity, raised blood pressure, high blood glucose and dyslipidemia are emerging health concerns worldwide. Therefore, the aim of this study was to estimate the combined association between physical activity and depressive symptoms with cardiometabolic risk factors in Chilean adults. Data was obtained from the National Health Survey of Chile 2016-2017, with a sample of 5995 adult participants.

Numerical proceeding to calculate impurity states in 2D semiconductor heterostructures.

Centro de Investigación en Ciencias-IICBA, Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos, Cuernavaca, CP 62209, México.

The article provides and discusses details of numerical proceeding for the expansion method to calculate energy positions and wave functions of the localized and resonant electronic states emerging in quantum well-type semiconductor nanostructures because of perturbation of confined states by the Coulomb potential of the hydrogenic impurity center. Effective mass approximation is used. Several excited both resonant and non-resonant states are calculated and classified for the case of a simple rectangular GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well.

Multi-state metastability in neuroimaging signals reflects the brain's flexibility to transition between network configurations in response to changing environments or tasks. We modeled these dynamics with a Kuramoto network of 90 nodes oscillating at an intrinsic frequency of 40 Hz, interconnected using human brain structural connectivity strengths and delays. We simulated this model for 30 min to generate multi-state metastability.

Condylar hyperplasia (CH) is a complex, usually unilateral pathology affecting the jaw, leading to facial asymmetry and malocclusion. Its etiology is unclear, with potential links to endocrine disorders, trauma, and genetic factors. Unilateral condylar hyperplasia (UCH) typically presents in young patients but can occur at any age.

December 2024

Invasive Insect Biocontrol and Behavior Laboratory, USDA-ARS, Beltsville, Maryland, United States of America.

The bagrada bug, Bagrada hilaris (Burmeister), is an emerging agricultural pest in the Americas, threatening agricultural production in the southwestern United States, Mexico and Chile, as well as in the Old World (including Africa, South Asia and, more recently, Mediterranean areas of Europe). Substantive transcriptomic sequence resources for this damaging species would be beneficial towards understanding its capacity for developing insecticide resistance, identifying viruses that may be present throughout its population and identifying genes differentially expressed across life stages that could be exploited for biomolecular pesticide formulations. This study establishes B.

Background: Drop height has previously been used as an effective programming parameter in plyometric jump training. Less is known about the usage of maximal rebound jump height from a distinct drop height as a parameter for individualized plyometric jump training. Hence, the aim of this study was to contrast the effects of two different drop jump (DJ) training modalities using either the individualized maximal rebound height (MRHT) or a standard (SDHT) drop height on selected measures of physical fitness in young volleyball players.

In this paper, a new label-free DNA nanosensor based on a top-gated (TG) metal-ferroelectric-metal (MFM) graphene nanoribbon field-effect transistor (TG-MFM GNRFET) is proposed through a simulation approach. The DNA sensing principle is founded on the dielectric modulation concept. The computational method employed to evaluate the proposed nanobiosensor relies on the coupled solutions of a rigorous quantum simulation with the Landau-Khalatnikov equation, considering ballistic transport conditions.

Assessing the reliability of measurement instruments and equipment is essential to ensure the accurate tracking of athletes over extended periods, minimizing the measurement errors caused by chance or other factors. However, a less common but equally important analysis is the verification of inter-measurement agreement, which complements the reliability results. To evaluate the intra- and inter-test reliability of an isometric hip adduction strength and asymmetries test in professional soccer players.
