Ultrasonography is a reliable imaging technique for the accurate diagnosis and evaluation of musculoskeletal disorders. Recent developments in ultrasound technology have significantly increased image resolution, making it possible to see anatomical features at almost microscopic dimensions. Current standards for standardized shoulder ultrasonography mostly depend on outdated machine types and configurations that may not fully utilize these high-resolution imaging capabilities.

Worldwide, mortality was strongly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, both directly through COVID-19 deaths and indirectly through changes in other causes of death. Here, we examine the impact of the pandemic on COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 mortality in 24 countries: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, England and Wales, Hungary, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Poland, Russia, Scotland, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States. Using demographic decomposition methods, we compare age- and cause-specific contributions to changes in female and male life expectancy at birth in 2019-2020, 2020-2021, and 2021-2022 with those before the COVID-19 pandemic (2015-2019).

Stingless bees (tribe Meliponini), comprising over 600 known species within the largest group of eusocial bees, play a critical role in ecosystem functioning through their pollination services. They contribute to the reproduction of numerous plant species, including many economically important crops such as cacao, coffee, and various fruits. Beyond their ecological significance, stingless bees hold cultural and economic importance for many native and rural communities, where they are managed for their honey, pollen, and propolis for nutritional and health purposes.

Live cultures, including Nannochloropsis oculata and Brachionus plicatilis, are essential in aquaculture due to its economic and nutritional value for commercial fish species. Pathogens and probiotics can be introduced to aquaculture systems by live feed, with variations in abundance influenced by environmental physicochemical parameters. Interviews were conducted with PLWH who participated in an exercise trial (n = 30) and PLWH who declined enrollment in the same exercise trial (n = 4).

Purpose: To propose a methodology for integrating the out-of-field and imaging doses to the in-field dose received by radiotherapy (RT) patients. In addition, the impact of considering the total dose in planning and radiation-induced second malignancies (RISM) risk assessment will be evaluated in several scenarios comprising photon and proton treatments.

Methods: The total dose is the voxel-wise sum of the doses from the different radiation sources (accounting for the radiobiological effectiveness) produced during the whole RT chain.

A guide to RNA structure analysis and RNA-targeting methods.

RNAs are increasingly recognized as promising therapeutic targets, susceptible to modulation by strategies that include targeting with small molecules, antisense oligonucleotides, deoxyribozymes (DNAzymes), or CRISPR/Cas13. However, while drug development for proteins follows well-established paths for rational design based on the accurate knowledge of their three-dimensional structure, RNA-targeting strategies are challenging since comprehensive RNA structures are yet scarce and challenging to acquire. Numerous methods have been developed to elucidate the secondary and three-dimensional structure of RNAs, including X-ray crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, SHAPE, DMS, and bioinformatic methods, yet they have often revealed flexible transcripts and co-existing populations rather than single-defined structures.

Introduction: Although noninvasive monitoring through quantifying rib cage movement has been useful in serial assessment of pulmonary function in newborns, measuring tidal volume (TV) is commonly performed invasively. As it is the most basic measure of pulmonary function, expanding its assessment to a noninvasive measure can contribute to clinical findings and interpretations in neonatal clinical practice.
