RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) are cellular factors involved in every step of RNA metabolism. During HIV-1 infection, these proteins are key players in the fine-tuning of viral and host cellular and molecular pathways, including (but not limited to) viral entry, transcription, splicing, RNA modification, translation, decay, assembly, and packaging, as well as the modulation of the antiviral response. Targeted studies have been of paramount importance in identifying and understanding the role of RNA-binding proteins that bind to HIV-1 RNAs.

: A previous study investigated the in vitro release of methylene blue (MB), a widely used cationic dye in biomedical applications, from nanocellulose/nanoporous silicon (NC/nPSi) composites under conditions simulating body fluids. The results showed that MB release rates varied significantly with the nPSi concentration in the composite, highlighting its potential for controlled drug delivery. To further analyze the relationship between diffusion dynamics and the MB concentration, this study developed a finite element (FE) method to solve Fick's equations governing the drug delivery system.

This study explores the development and evaluation of a novel series of aromatic co-polyamides featuring diverse pendant groups, including phenyl and pyridinyl derivatives, designed for water desalination membrane applications. These co-polyamides, synthesized with a combination of hexafluoroisopropyl, oxyether, phenyl, and amide groups, exhibited excellent solubility in polar aprotic solvents, thermal stability exceeding 350 °C, and the ability to form robust, flexible films. Membranes prepared via phase inversion demonstrated variable water permeability and NaCl rejection rates, significantly influenced by the pendant group chemistry.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) presents significant therapeutic challenges, particularly in cases driven by mutations in the FLT3 tyrosine kinase. This study aimed to develop a robust and user-friendly machine learning-based quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) model to predict the inhibitory potency (pIC values) of FLT3 inhibitors, addressing the limitations of previous models in dataset size, diversity, and predictive accuracy. Using a dataset which was 14 times larger than those employed in prior studies (1350 compounds with 1269 molecular descriptors), we trained a random forest regressor, chosen due to its superior predictive performance and resistance to overfitting.

The most widely used radiance sensor for monitoring Night Sky Brightness (NSB) is the Sky Quality Meter (SQM), making its measurement stability fundamental. To determine whether 448 kHz capacitive-resistive monopolar radiofrequency (CRMR) after platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) injections can further reduce pain sensation within the first 72 h in an active population with patellar chondropathy. One-hundred fifty-three active patients with patellar chondropathy grade II-III were followed for three days after PRP injections with and without CRMR under a control-placebo study. They were clinically evaluated for pain sensation using a visual analog scale ranging from zero (no pain sensation) to ten (highest pain sensation).

This study evaluates the effectiveness of Total Reflection X-ray Fluorescence for multi-element analysis in mussels, focusing on sensitivity, precision, and detection limits. Additionally, it offers a cross-regional comparison of elemental composition in mussels from aquaculture farms in Italy, Spain, and Chile. TXRF, using suspensions of mussel samples, proved effective in detecting minor and trace elements, with recovery rates over 80% for Fe, Cu, Zn, As, and Sr.

Spotted wing drosophila (SWD) is a pest that causes damage due to the female laying eggs under the skin of ripe fruit, from which a larva emerges, causing its collapse and reducing its commercial value. Due to the importance of this pest, monitoring its population is the starting point for any control program; however, there is no early monitoring plan within management tasks, nor are there studies on behavior, the optimization of traps, or their baits. This research proposes the evaluation of a monitoring system with encapsulated baits and adhesive traps that allow effective control.
