Background: The pediatric pulmonary multisystem Langerhans cell histiocytosis (PPM LCH) is associated with either low risk or high risk organ(s). The nodulo-cystic lung lesions although pathognomonic, yet are very variable in severity and remain a source of controversy in certifying pulmonary LCH diagnosis. The study aimed to examine the prognostic value of clinical respiratory manifestations and radiological lung lesions severity.

Background/objectives: Cyclosporine A (CSA) dosing has been complicated by considerable intra-patient and inter-patient variability in pharmacokinetics, which is affected by different factors. We aimed to assess the various factors that might affect the CSA dose and its plasma level.

Patients And Methods: This retrospective study included paediatric cancer patients who underwent allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant at the Children's Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357 from matched related donors with CSA as graft versus host disease prophylaxis.

We explored the self-reported antibiotic stewardship (AS), and infection prevention and control (IPC) activities in intensive care units (ICUs) of different income settings. A cross-sectional study was conducted using an online questionnaire to collect data about IPC and AS measures in participating ICUs. The study participants were Infectious Diseases-International Research Initiative (IDI-IR) members, committed as per their institutional agreement form.

Skeletal involvement in children with Langerhans cell histiocytosis: healing, complications, and functional outcome.

Introduction: Skeletal involvement in children with Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a common feature of the disease. Several options for the treatment of these skeletal lesions have been reported. We describe our experience in the treatment of skeletal involvement of LCH in this retrospective case series study, entailing anatomic distribution, pattern of healing, skeletal deformities, and functional outcome of skeletal LCH.

Management and outcome of pediatric Wilms tumor with malignant inferior Vena cava thrombus: largest cohort of single-center experience.

Introduction: Neuroblastoma (NBL) is the most common extracranial solid tumor in children. It accounts for 15% of the deaths from cancer in the pediatric age group. Approximately half of the newly diagnosed children are at “high risk” (HR) of treatment failure.

Incidence of orbital, conjunctival and lacrimal gland malignant tumors in USA from Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results, 1973-2009.

Aim: To determine the types and incidence of tumors affecting the orbit, conjunctiva and lacrimal glands and to study the trend line of these tumors in the United States from 1973 to 2009.

Methods: We used the publicly available Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database registries to determine the incidence rates. Age was adjusted to the 2000 US Standard Population.

Prophylactic levofloxacin in pediatric neutropenic patients during autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Background: Using fluoroquinolone prophylaxis in pediatric neutropenic patients is a controversial issue due to the concern about emergence of resistant strains in addition to the lack of pediatric studies.
