Bladder fibrosis is the final common pathway of neurogenic bladder (NB), and its underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. The current study aims to evaluate the involvement of Piezo1, a mechanosensitive channel, in bladder fibrosis. A full-thickness bladder specimen was taken during ileocystoplasty or ureteral reimplantation from the surgical cut's edge.

Background: Indoor environmental factors, such as pet ownership, presence of cockroaches, mattress quality, fuel usage (gas or electricity), use of biomass for cooking and heating, exposure to tobacco smoke or household molds can significantly affect the sleep quality of children with chronic cough. However, data regarding the effects of indoor environmental conditions on sleep in this population are limited. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of abnormal sleep behaviors and to establish associations between indoor environmental factors and sleep behaviors among children with chronic cough in Wuxi, China.

Manganese (Mn) play a crucial role in various biological processes in the body. Studies have primarily focused on their ability to enhance immune cell function and activation against tumors, particularly in dendritic cells (DCs), macrophages, and T cells. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are often the most abundant immune cell population present in the tumor microenvironment (TME).

Background: Pectus carinatum (PC) mainly present at the growth spurt time of the early teenage years or the puberty. Poor outer appearance is a major reason for seeking help for surgeons to increase self-confidence and self-esteem. At present, minimally invasive repair (MIR) is one of effective ways to correct the chest wall deformity.

Background: Osteosarcoma is the most common mesenchymal cell malignancy, 10% of which is fibroblastic osteosarcoma (FOS). Due to the low incidence of osteosarcoma, the impact of many pathological factors on survival is still unclear, especially FOS. The goal of this study was to assess the latest survival rates for FOS and the risk factors affecting survival using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database.

Background: The current early warning model for organ damage in critically ill patients has certain limitations. Based on the pathological mechanism, the establishment of an early warning system for organ damage in critically ill children using cytokines profile has not been explored. The aim of this study is to explore the predicting value of cytokines in critically ill patients.

Background: This study aimed to analyze the clinical features of children with lobar pneumonia caused by (MP) infection, to explore the independent risk factors for bronchoscopic intervention in children with lobar pneumonia caused by MP infection. There is a lack of objective assessment tools to guide the use of bronchoscopy in clinical practice. For children with lobar pneumonia caused by MP infection, whether line shall be actively bronchoscope intervention therapy remains to be further defined.

Introduction: cGMP-dependent protein kinase 1 (PRKG1) has shown to be associated with some tumorigenesis, while the role of PRKG1 in bladder cancer is unclear.
Methods: To investigate the biological and clinical significance of PRKG1 in bladder cancer, we detected the expression of PRKG1 and explored the function of PRKG1 in bladder cancer cells. The PRKG1 transcripts data was downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, and immunohistochemistry staining was conducted on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) sample tissues.

N-methyladenosine (mA) modification is deemed to be co-transcriptionally installed on pre-mRNAs, thereby influencing various downstream RNA metabolism events. However, the causal relationship between mA modification and RNA processing is often unclear, resulting in premature or even misleading generalizations on the function of mA modification. Here, we develop 4sU-coupled mA-level and isoform-characterization sequencing (4sU-mA-LAIC-seq) and 4sU-GLORI to quantify the mA levels for both newly synthesized and steady-state RNAs at transcript and single-base-resolution levels, respectively, which enable dissecting the relationship between mA modification and alternative RNA polyadenylation.

Background: To help understand the disease burden of vaccine-preventable bacterial disease, we delineated the epidemiologic and clinical characteristics of radiographic-confirmed community-acquired pneumonia (CXR-CAP) among Chinese children.
Methods: We retrospectively screened the electronic database of the hospital information system to identify all pediatric CAP cases admitted to the Children's Hospital of Soochow University between 2010 and 2014. Radiographic findings and clinical data were extracted from the medical charts through individual chart reviews.

Asthma is a prevalent respiratory condition with multifaceted pathomechanisms, presenting challenges for therapeutic development. The SLC (Solute Carrier) gene family, encompassing diverse membrane transport proteins, plays pivotal roles in various human diseases by facilitating solute movement across biological membranes. These solutes include ions, sugars, amino acids, neurotransmitters, and drugs.

Background: Osteosarcoma (OS) is one of the most common primary malignant tumors of bone in children, which develops from osteoblasts and typically occurs during the rapid growth phase of the bone. Recently, Super-Enhancers(SEs)have been reported to play a crucial role in osteosarcoma growth and metastasis. Therefore, there is an urgent need to identify specific targeted inhibitors of SEs to assist clinical therapy.
