This study aimed to characterize of common respiratory pathogen infections in pediatric patients hospitalized for acute respiratory tract infections (ARTIs) in Suzhou before and after ending the zero COVID policy. Background: Recent studies have indicated the role of the gut microbiota in the progression of osteoarticular diseases, however, the causal relationship between the gut microbiota and pyogenic arthritis remains unclear. There is also a lack of theoretical basis for the application of the gut microbiota in the treatment of pyogenic arthritis.
Methods: In our study, we utilized the largest genome-wide association study (GWAS) data from the MiBioGen Consortium involving 13,400 participants and extracted summary statistical data of the microbiota metabolic pathways of 7,738 participants of European descent from the Dutch Microbiome Project (DMP) The data of pyogenic arthritis were derived from the FinnGen R10 database, including 1,086 patients and 147,221 controls.

Polysyndactyly of the foot is a common congenital malformation of the lower extremity. We introduce our surgical technique for reconstruction of polysyndactyly of the fifth toe fused with the fourth toe. The technique includes the removal of the medial hypoplastic ray, web-space reconstruction using a dorsal cross-shaped advancement flap and closure of the lateral incisions of the separated toes with a tongue-shaped flap and zigzag triangular flaps.

The upregulation of BCL2 and BCL-XL, two proteins in the BCL2 family of proteins, leads to a disproportional expression of pro-death and pro-survival proteins in favor of leukemia survival, tumorigenesis, and chemoresistance. Background: To investigate the quantitative vascular and structural differences in the foveal region of the eyes in retinopathy of prematurity children with or without anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy and healthy children using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
Methods: This cross-sectional study analyzed 75 eyes from 44 subjects, categorized into four groups: ROP children treated with Conbercept or Ranibizumab, spontaneously regressed ROP, and healthy age-matched children. Using spectral-domain OCT and OCTA, we assessed parameters like central foveal thickness (CFT), foveal avascular zone (FAZ), superficial/deep capillary plexus (SCP/DCP), and choroidal vessel density (VD) at the fovea.

Methods: Sputum culture data from 85,659 children with LRTIs at the Children's Hospital of Soochow University from January 2016 to May 2024 were analyzed for eight bacteria: Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, Moraxella catarrhalis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Acinetobacter baumannii.

Early immune reconstitution, particularly of natural killer (NK) cells with strong graft-versus-leukemia effects, is crucial for the prognosis of patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). This retrospective study examined 122 pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) or acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who underwent T-cell replete allo-HSCT at the Children's Hospital of Soochow University from 2019 to 2021. Peripheral blood lymphocyte counts on days 30 and 60 post-transplant were analyzed, focusing on NK cell recovery and its impact on overall survival (OS), relapse-free survival (RFS), non-relapse mortality (NRM), relapse, graft-versus-host disease, and CMV reactivation.
