Purpose: Homoharringtonine (HHT) is commonly used for the treatment of Chinese adult AML, and all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) has been verified in acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). However, the efficacy and safety of HHT-based induction therapy have not been confirmed for childhood AML, and ATRA-based treatment has not been evaluated among patients with non-APL AML.

Patients And Methods: This open-label, multicenter, randomized Chinese Children's Leukemia Group-AML 2015 study was performed across 35 centers in China.

Doxorubicin (DOX) is an efficient antitumor anthracycline drug, but its cardiotoxicity adversely affects the prognosis of the patients. In this study, we explored whether endogenous gasotransmitter hydrogen sulfide (HS) could protect against DOX-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis and its mechanisms. The results indicated that DOX significantly downregulated endogenous HS production and endogenous synthetase cystathionine -lyase (CSE) expression and obviously stimulated the apoptosis in H9C2 cells.

Numerous studies have shown that long uncoded RNA (lncRNA) MSC-AS1 may play an important role in the occurrence and development of some types of cancer. However, its role in gastric cancer has rarely been discussed. This study aimed to clarify the association between lncRNA MSC-AS1 and gastric cancer using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database.

SO, previously known as the product of industrial waste, has recently been proven to be a novel gasotransmitter in the cardiovascular system. It is endogenously produced from the metabolism pathway of sulfur-containing amino acids in mammalians. Endogenous SO acts as an important controller in the regulation of many biological processes including cardiovascular physiological and pathophysiological events.

Importance: The Chinese Neonatal Network was established in 2018 and maintains a standardized national clinical database of very preterm or very low-birth-weight infants in tertiary neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) throughout China. National-level data on outcomes and care practices of very preterm infants (VPIs) in China are lacking.

Objective: To assess the care practices in NICUs and outcomes among VPIs in China.

Key Laboratory of Public Health Safety, Ministry of Education, School of Public Health, Fudan University, Shanghai 200032, China. Electronic address:

Objectives: Enterovirus A71 (EV-A71) is the main pathogen of severe hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD). Commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) are widely used in Chinese hospitals for the rapid diagnosis of acute EV-A71 infections. We present an evaluation of the diagnostic performance of a commercial anti-EV-A71 IgM-capture ELISA kit.

Department of Pediatric Urodynamic Center and Henan Joint International Pediatric Urodynamic Laboratory, The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, 450052, Zhengzhou, China.

Background: Decreased expression of the renal aquaporin (AQP) protein family is associated with hydronephrosis in adult humans and animals. However, the expression of AQPs, especially subtypes AQP1-3, which play a core role in the urinary concentration function, in hydronephrotic human fetuses is not clear. The aim of this study is to investigate the expression of the AQP1-3 in normal and hydronephrotic human fetal kidneys.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the role and significance of endothelial microparticles (EMPs) in children diagnosed with Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP), a condition that can affect the kidneys.
  • It compares groups of children with HSP, some having nephritis (inflammation of the kidneys) and others without, against a control group of healthy children, measuring levels of Th17 cells, interleukin-17 (IL-17), and EMPs.
  • Results show that children with nephritis have the highest levels of Th17, IL-17, and EMPs, suggesting that elevated EMP levels may contribute to kidney issues in those with HSP.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cause of cancer-associated mortality worldwide. Currently, 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) remains a widely used chemotherapeutic drug in the treatment of CRC; however, 5-FU resistance during treatment has become a common problem. Livin, a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis protein family, is considered to be associated with tumor resistance to chemotherapy.

Objective: To explore the effect of PKA gene on acute T lymphocyte leukemia cells in children and its mechanism.

Methods: Jurkat and Sup-T1 cells were divided into 2 group: control group (Jurkat and Sup-T1 cells treated with non-specific siRNA) and transfected group (Jurkat and Sup-T1 cells transfected with PKA siRNA). The effects of down-regulating the expression of PKA gene on the viability, proliferotion, migration and cell cycle distribution of Jurkat and Sup-T1 cells in 2 groups were analyzed by CCK-8 assay, transwell experiment, cell colony-formation test and flow cytometry; the cyclin-related protein levels after transfection with PKA siRNA were detected by Western blot.
