Compared to multiplex PCR assays that are available in the Chinese market, the Acaruiter Respiratory Panel (fluorescent PCR) covers a wider range of pathogens including eight viruses, five bacteria, and , and has high accuracy and effectiveness in the detection of pathogens. This is the first study to evaluate the performance of the Acaruiter Respiratory Panel. This regent may be a promising assay for comprehensive testing for respiratory pathogens from nasopharyngeal swab specimens in Chinese children.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the value of multi-slice spiral CT (CT) and multi-planar reconstruction (MPR) in the diagnosis of children with parotid cleft deformity. The CT images of 55 cases of branchial cleft deformity confirmed by surgery and pathology were retrospectively analyzed. CT examination showed that 37 cases had strip-like, tubular fistula or cystic mass located in the anterior cervical triangle, anterior margin of sternocleidomastoid muscle, and 2 of them had bilateral fistula structure.

Objective: To study whether human amniotic fluid colony derived stem cells (hAFCSCs) are involved in regeneration of injured muscles in mice and to investigate the method and feasibility of hAFCSCs-based cytotherapy in the treatment of injured muscles.

Objective: To evaluate the sensitivity of NT-pro-BNP in daunorubicin (DNR) induced myocardial damage by monitoring the level of NT-pro-BNP and myocardial enzymes (CK, CKMB) before and after DNR treatment in childhood acute leukemia (AL) and performing control study.

Methods: Sixty-two cases (total 194 samples) which diagnosed as primary AL were enrolled and had received the conventional chemotherapy. According to the cumulative dose of DNR, they were divided into three groups: cumulative dose ≤ 60 mg/m(2) (group A); cumulative dose 60 - 120 mg/m(2) (group B); cumulative dose > 120 mg/m(2) (group C) and 15 cases with idarubicin (IDA) or mitoxantrone (MXR) as altervative to DNR (group D).

Methods: Black C57/B6 mice randomly divided into 4 research groups: (1) adenovirus encoded-lacZ gene treatment group (AdLacZ): n=43; (2) three control groups: (1) before 100% O2 inhalation (Con): n=26; (2) 100% O2 inhalation with TBS + PBS treatment (PBS): n=36; (3) 100% O2, inhalation without treatment (no treatment): n=33. Objective: To meet the need for instrument assessing the cognitive abilities of infants and young children as well as discriminating between global developmental delay and particular deficits in either language or problem-solving skills, we intended to introduce Cognitive Adaptive Test/Clinical Linguistic and Auditory Milestone Scale (CAT/CLAMS) into China.

Methods: CAT/CLAMS were administered to 1604 normative children aged 4-36 months (in 16 age groups, about 100 children per age group) in Shanghai during the period from December 2003 to June 2004. In the meantime, Gesell Developmental Diagnosis was applied for 100 of these children, respectively aged 4, 6, 12, 18 and 30 months (20 children per age group).
