Methods: Leveraging genome-wide association study statistics for MDD (n = 170,756), peptic ulcer disease (PUD; n = 16,666), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GORD; n = 54,854), PUD and/or GORD and/or medications (PGM; n = 90,175), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS; n = 28,518), and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD; n = 7045), we determined global and local genetic correlations, identified pleiotropic loci, performed gene-level evaluations, and inferred causal associations using bidirectional Mendelian randomization.

Methods: The prevalence, trend, and continuation of antidepressant use during pregnancy in Japan from 2012 to 2023 were evaluated, using a large administrative claims database, in women whose pregnancies ended in live births. Annual changes were evaluated using a multivariate logistic regression model adjusted for maternal age at delivery.

Objectives: To compare differences in craniofacial growth prediction results for Korean and American children according to growth prediction models developed using Korean and American longitudinal growth data.

Materials And Methods: Growth prediction models based on cephalometric landmarks were built for each population using longitudinally taken lateral cephalograms of Korean children and American children of northern European origin. The sample sizes of the serial datasets were 679 and 1257 for Korean and American children, respectively.

Background: Accurate mortality estimates help quantify and memorialise the impact of war. We used multiple data sources to estimate deaths due to traumatic injury in the Gaza Strip between Oct 7, 2023, and June 30, 2024.

Methods: We used a three-list capture-recapture analysis using data from Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) hospital lists, an MoH online survey, and social media obituaries.

Burden of RSV infections among young children in primary care: a prospective cohort study in five European countries (2021-23).

Background: The majority of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections in young children are managed in primary care, however, the disease burden in this setting remains poorly defined.

Methods: We did a prospective cohort study in primary care settings in Belgium, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and the UK during the RSV seasons of 2020-21 (UK only; from Jan 1, 2021), 2021-22, and 2022-23. Children aged younger than 5 years presenting to their general practitioner or primary care paediatrician with symptoms of an acute respiratory tract infection were eligible for RSV testing.

Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the functional role of LAMP3-mediated epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLSs) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients and to evaluate its potential as a therapeutic target.

Methodology: Changes in EMT and LAMP3 were investigated in the synovial tissue and FLSs of RA patients. In vitro experiments were performed using the EMT inhibitor C19, siRNA, and lentivirus to examine the impact of EMT and LAMP3 on RA-FLSs and the underlying mechanisms involved.

Background: Pre-exposure prophylactic rabies vaccination (PrEP) is advised for travellers to countries with high rabies incidence, but rarely available for local residents.
