Methods: Data were retrospectively collected from healthy children who underwent uroflowmetry between 1990 and 1992.

Background: The trajectory of blood pressure (BP) from childhood to early middle age suggested that individuals with elevated BP in early childhood were more likely to be affected by cardiovascular disease in adulthood. Exposure to metals may affect BP in children, and pregnancy is a sensitive time for metal exposure. This study assessed the relationship between different stages of prenatal exposure to metals or metal mixtures and BP in children aged 5-6 years.

Poor sleep quality in early pregnancy increases the risk of developing gestational diabetes mellitus: a propensity score matching analysis.

Purpose: This study aimed to demonstrate the relationship between poor sleep quality in early pregnancy and the risk of developing gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).

Methods: We conducted a nested case-control study and performed a 1:3 propensity score (PS) matching to match pregnant women with GDM to women without GDM. After PS matching, logistic regressions were carried out to describe the association between sleep quality (assessed by Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index [PSQI]) and the risk of GDM.

We recruited 1685 mother-child pairs from the Ma'anshan Birth Cohort in China. Pre-pregnancy BMI and GWG were calculated based on the height and weights measured at multiple antenatal checkups.

Microcephaly with pontine and cerebellar hypoplasia (MICPCH) is a rare X-linked dominant genetic disease, and most MICPCHs are ascribed to mutations, while few are revealed in Chinese patients. This study aims to identify the pathogenic mutation in a Chinese proband with MICPCH. A 3-year-old female Chinese proband with MICPCH and her parents were included.

Vitamin AD Drops are More Effective than Intramuscular Injection of Thymosin in Reducing the Rate of Growth Retardation in Children.

Objective: To explore the effect of vitamin AD drops on growth retardation in children.

Methods: From February 2020 to February 2021, 100 children with constipation and recurrent respiratory infections treated in our hospital were assigned to a vitamin AD drops group and intramuscular thymosin group, with 50 cases in each group. Outcome measures included mean height, body mass index (BMI), frequency of respiratory infections, increase in height and BMI, growth retardation, clinical effectiveness, immune function, medication compliance, and adverse responses.

Effect of Calcium Carbonate Preparation on Malnutrition in Preschool Children.

Objective: To analyze the effect of calcium carbonate preparations on malnutrition in preschool children.

Methods: A total of 100 preschool malnourished children treated in our hospital from February 2020 to February 2021 were recruited and assigned to a calcium carbonate preparation group or calcium lactate preparation group via the random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. Outcome measures included bone content, malnutrition symptom scores, nutritional indices, urine calcium, patient compliance, and treatment satisfaction.

Sex-Specific Effect of Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody and Thyroglobulin Antibody Exposure During Pregnancy on Preschoolers' Emotional and Behavioral Development: A Birth Cohort Study.

Epidemiological and experimental studies suggest that thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb)- and thyroglobulin antibody (TGAb)-positive exposure during gestation may contribute to offspring's adverse neural development. However, limited knowledge is available on the association between joint exposure on TPOAb and TGAb and children's emotional and behavioral development. Furthermore, the sex-specific effect on the developmental process of preschoolers' emotions and behaviors is unknown.

This online cross-sectional survey involving individuals registered with a company that provides meals to children aged 2-6 years was conducted in February 2021.

A Comparative Study of Surgical Correction of Idiopathic Scoliosis With Spinal Transpedicular Metal Structures in Children.

A comparative study of surgical correction of idiopathic thoracic scoliosis using transpedicular spinal systems in children was performed. The study showed that using the transpedicular supporting elements along the entire length of the deformation (concave and convex sides) using the VCM (vertebral column manipulation) system, the correction was significantly better ( ≤ 0.05) than for the patients for whom the screws were not installed over two or more vertebrae from the concave side of the curvature, regardless of the magnitude of the spinal deformity.

Immunoglobulin-free strategy to prevent HBV mother-to-child transmission in Cambodia (TA-PROHM): a single-arm, multicentre, phase 4 trial.

Background: Prevention of mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) of hepatitis B virus (HBV) is based on administration of vaccine and immunoglobulins (HBIg) to newborns at birth and maternal antiviral prophylaxis for those with an HBV-DNA viral load of at 5·3 log IU/mL or more. Many low-income and middle-income countries face difficulty in accessing HBIg and HBV-DNA quantification. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an HBIg-free strategy to prevent MTCT of HBV.
