An 80-year-old woman with type 2 diabetes was admitted due to right-handed muscle weakness. The patient presented with Brown-Sequard syndrome, with complete paralysis of the right lower limb along with a loss of pain and temperature sensations in the left lower limb. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a cervical epidural abscess, and accompanying edema or inflammation of the right side of the spinal cord at the C5 level.

Since 1991, we gave anesthesia to 155 patients with halo vest. All of 128 whose airways could be kept patent by laryngeal mask airway (LMA) were successfully intubated fiberoptically via LMA using the tube exchange catheter under general anesthesia. Four patients developed airway obstruction during the induction of anesthesia, two of whom were awakened and subsequently intubated by awake fiberoptic intubation.

Nasal hemangiopericytoma-like (HPCL) tumor is a rare vascular tumor and should be differentiated from typical hemangiopericytomas (HPCs). This study reports the case of an HPCL tumor in a 77-year-old man with histological and immunohistochemical features. After preoperative evaluation of the blood supply, the dark-red right intranasal tumor was resected completely via the right maxillary sinus.

Body stalk anomaly is a severe body wall defect, with maldevelopment of the hindgut and the presence of a very rudimentary umbilical cord. A case of prenatally-diagnosed body stalk anomaly is presented along with the discussion of the prenatal diagnosis and its management. Autopsy of the fetus showed abnormalities compatible with the maldevelopment of embryonic body folding.
