A total of 739 patients underwent RARP as initial treatment for PCa from November 2011 to October 2018. Data on BCR status, clinical and pathological parameters were collected from the clinical records. After excluding cases with neoadjuvant and/or adjuvant therapies, presence of lymph node or distant metastasis, and positive SM, a total of 537 cases were eligible for the final analysis.

Objective: This phase II clinical trial evaluated feasibility and tolerability of 90-minute rituximab infusion and a concentration of 4 mg/mL rituximab infusion in Japanese patients with previously untreated follicular lymphoma or diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
Methods: Treatment was rituximab with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisolone. In cycle 1, rituximab at a dose of 375 mg/m2 (4 mg/mL) was administered at the standard infusion rate stipulated in the package insert.

The objective of this study was to identify the prognostic factors and to propose a new risk model in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) patients. The clinical data were retrospectively obtained for 102 mCRPC patients who received cancer treatment between 2005 and 2018 at the University of Tokyo Hospital. We investigated clinical and pathological parameters, including prostate-specific antigen (PSA) kinetic profiles under androgen deprivation treatment, and identified predictors of overall survival (OS).

We aimed to identify prognostic factors of cancer-specific survival (CSS) in non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (M0CRPC) patients. The final analysis of this retrospective cohort included 82 patients who were diagnosed as M0CRPC between 1998 and 2018 at the University of Tokyo Hospital. CRPC was defined as prostate-specific antigen (PSA) progression (increased PSA ≥ 25% and ≥ 2 ng/mL above the nadir or detection of a metastatic lesion).

Case Presentation: In the first case, a 48-year-old woman who underwent right internal inguinal hernia repair, 18 months prior, presented with pollakiuria and microscopic hematuria that was resistant to antibiotics. A submucosal tumor was detected at the bladder dome by cystoscopy, and transurethral resection was performed.

Background: Differential diagnosis of neoplasms and non-neoplasms is crucial in ensuring appropriate and proper medical management for patients undergoing colonoscopy. Diagnostic ability can vary, depending on the colonoscopist's experience. To overcome this issue, artificial intelligence (AI) may be effective.

Abdominal contrast computed tomography(CT)showed marked thickening of the stomach wall in contact with the pancreatic body and enlargement of the regional lymph nodes, suggesting a tumor metastasis to the lymph nodes. At the patient's request, she was followed‒up without surgery, and 8 months later, upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed that the ulcerative lesion was scarred and covered with a non‒ tumor mucosa.

Background: The objective of this study is to investigate the clinical significance and risk factors of upgrading in the International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) Grade Group System in men undergoing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) for prostate cancer.
Methods: A total of 583 patients diagnosed with prostate cancer by systematic biopsy were treated with RARP without neoadjuvant therapy from November 2011 to December 2018. Clinicopathological data were obtained from our clinical records.

Background: There has been a limited number of reports on the significance and risk factors of urethrovesical anastomotic urinary leakage (AUL) following robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). We aimed to analyze the clinical significance of AUL and evaluated its risk factors.
Methods: We conducted a multi-institutional study to review patients with prostate cancer undergoing RARP in three centers (The University of Tokyo Hospital, Mitsui Memorial Hospital, and Chiba Tokushukai Hospital).

Transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR-CA) demonstrates progressive, potentially fatal, and infiltrative cardiomyopathy caused by extracellular deposition of transthyretin-derived insoluble amyloid fibrils in the myocardium. Two distinct types of transthyretin (wild type or variant) become unstable, and misfolding forms aggregate, resulting in amyloid fibrils. ATTR-CA, which has previously been underrecognized and considered to be rare, has been increasingly recognized as a cause of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction among elderly persons.

Purpose: Classical trigeminal neuralgia with concomitant persistent facial pain responds poorly to conservative treatment. The authors describe the effects of microvascular decompression and radiofrequency thermocoagulation for patients with classical trigeminal neuralgia and concomitant persistent facial pain.
Case Report: Case 1 was a 61-year-old man with dull, continuous, aching pain in the left maxillary and mandibular molar area.

Background: The multi-functional BMCC1 (BCH motif-containing molecule at the carboxyl terminal region 1)/PRUNE2 plays a clear role in suppression of tumor activity. In the patients with neuroblastoma (NB), reduced expression of BMCC1 in primary tumor tissues was associated with poor prognosis. By contrast, enforced expression of BMCC1 as well as elevated expression of BMCC1 in response to DNA-damage promotes apoptosis by abrogating Akt-mediated survival pathways.

Objective: To evaluate the usefulness of a training program on endoscopic head and neck surveillance for beginner endoscopists.
Methods: This prospective multicenter study included 13 beginner endoscopists from 10 institutions who received training in systematic observation techniques and diagnostic criteria, and the training involved hands-on learning. Between May 2016 and February 2017, enrolled patients with current or previously diagnosed esophageal squamous cell carcinomas underwent head and neck surveillance using narrow band imaging (NBI) endoscopy, and histologically confirmed head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) detection rates, endoscopic image quality, and examination times were compared before (group A) and after (group B) the training program.

Background: Pancreatic cancer is a refractory malignancy, and the development of a new effective treatment strategy is needed. We generated a dendritic cell vaccine by culturing monocytes obtained by apheresis of blood from each patient, inducing their differentiation into dendritic cells, and pulsing with tumor antigen peptides. However, the clinical efficacy of the vaccine has not been established.

Background: Transthyretin amyloidosis is a systemic disorder caused by extracellular deposition of insoluble amyloid fibrils in peripheral and autonomic nerves, heart, kidney, gastrointestinal tract, and other organs. Hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis is an autosomal dominant disease. More than 120 mutations have been reported in the transthyretin gene with considerable phenotypic heterogeneity and geographic diversity.

Vaccine-associated myocarditis is an extremely rare, yet potentially lethal disease, which requires early diagnosis and prompt treatment. However, its pathogenesis remains elusive. We report the first case of biopsy-proven eosinophilic myocarditis related to tetanus toxoid immunization, with unique histopathologic findings, characterized by perivascular eosinophilic infiltrates with myocyte necrosis and abundant interstitial lymphocytic infiltrates with myocyte necrosis, separately.

Tripartite motif 36 (TRIM36) belongs to the TRIM family, most members of which are involved in ubiquitination and degradation of target proteins by functioning as E3 ubiquitin ligases. The function of TRIM36 has not been well documented, therefore, we investigated the clinical significance and function of TRIM36 in human prostate cancer (PC). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that TRIM36 immunoreactivity was an independent predictor of cancer-specific survival of PC patients.
