Inflammation is closely associated with cerebrovascular diseases, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancers, and it is accompanied by the development of autoantibodies in the early stage of inflammation-related diseases. Hence, it is meaningful to discover novel antibody biomarkers targeting inflammation-related diseases. In this study, Jumonji C-domain-containing 6 (JMJD6) was identified by the serological identification of antigens through recombinant cDNA expression cloning.

: In temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), estimating the potential risk of language dysfunction before surgery is a necessary procedure. Functional MRI (fMRI) is considered the most useful to determine language lateralization noninvasively. However, there are no standardized language fMRI protocols, and several issues remain unresolved.

In cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) for myocardial infarction, there have been quite a few cases of obscure image contrast between subendocardial lesion and left ventricular (LV) blood pool on late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) images. This study was motivated by confirmation of usefulness of post-contrast Tmap for detection of subendocardial infarction. From June 2017 to May 2018, forty-eight consecutive patients who underwent contrast-enhanced CMR to assess myocardial infarction were reviewed.

Background: The efficacy and safety of dual antithrombotic therapy (DAT) with oral anticoagulant and P2Y12 inhibitors (P2Y12i) in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) have not been well investigated. The purpose of this study was first to evaluate clinical outcomes of DAT with P2Y12i compared with triple antithrombotic therapy (TAT), and then to compare DAT with low-dose prasugrel and DAT with clopidogrel, in patients with AF undergoing PCI.
Methods: This study was a multicenter, non-interventional, prospective and retrospective registry.

The diagnosis of unresponsive wakefulness syndrome depends mostly on the motor response following verbal commands. However, there is a potential for misdiagnosis in patients who understand verbal commands (passive response) but cannot perform voluntary movements (active response). To evaluate passive and active responses in such patients, this study used an approach combining functional magnetic resonance imaging and passive listening tasks to evaluate the level of speech comprehension, with portable brain-computer interface modalities that were applied to elicit an active response to attentional modulation tasks at the bedside.

We previously identified growth arrest and DNA-damage-inducible gene 34 (GADD34) as a marker of ischemic stroke. In the present study, serum levels of anti-GADD34 antibodies were found to be significantly higher in patients with acute ischemic stroke or chronic kidney disease compared to healthy donors. We then examined the biological function of GADD34 by transfection into U2OS human osteosarcoma and U87 human glioblastoma cells.

Introduction: Autoantibodies against inflammatory cytokines may be used for the prevention of atherosclerosis. Preclinical studies consider colony-stimulating factor 2 (CSF2) as an essential cytokine with a causal relationship to atherosclerosis and cancer. We examined the serum anti-CSF2 antibody levels in patients with atherosclerosis or solid cancer.

Autoantibodies can be used in the early diagnosis and treatment of atherosclerosis-related diseases. Using ProtoArray screening of samples from patients with atherosclerosis, the present study identified thiosulfate sulfurtransferase-like domain-containing 2 (TSTD2) as a novel atherosclerosis antigen. The serum TSTD2 antibody levels were then quantified using an amplified luminescent proximity homogeneous assay-linked immunosorbent assay.

Objective: Due to the heterogeneous definitions of tumor regrowth and various tumor volume distributions, the nature of small remnants after vestibular schwannoma (VS) surgery and the appropriate timing of adjuvant stereotactic radiosurgery for these remnants remain unclear. In this study, the growth potential of small remnants (< 1 cm3) after VS surgery was compared with that of treatment-naïve (TN) small VSs.
Methods: This retrospective single-center study included 44 patients with VS remnants following subtotal resection (STR) of a large VS (remnant group) and 75 patients with TN VS (< 1 cm3; TN group).
