Forensic entomology plays a crucial role in criminal investigations by providing vital insights into minimum postmortem interval (PMI) and corpse relocation by identifying insect species that colonize in decomposing remains. This study aimed to identify and analyze the genetic variation of forensically significant fly species in Thailand, using DNA barcoding of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I COI gene. A total of 3,220 fly specimens were collected from 18 provinces across six regions of Thailand from October 2017 to September 2022.

In pursuit of new acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors for treating Alzheimer's disease (AD), a series of ten previously synthesized isoconessimine compounds (7a-7j) was in silico investigated for their binding interactions with AChE and pharmacokinetics based on absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) properties using molecular docking, ONIOM (Our own N-layered Integrated molecular Orbital and molecular Mechanics) method and SwissADME tools. Docking experiments showed that all compounds bind within the active site gorge of AChE (PDB entry 1C2B), posing its aryloxy-substitutional ethyl group to catalytic site and conessine skeleton to peripheral anionic site. ONIOM interaction energy was used as an ONIOM score to improve docking score, and it ranked 7b as the most potent AChE inhibitor, in agreement with previous experiment.

Perilla leaves are known to be a rich source of polyphenols, which have been shown to exhibit various biological effects. This study aimed to compare the bioefficacies and bioactivities of fresh (PLE) and dry (PLE) Thai perilla (Nga-mon) leaf extracts. Phytochemical analysis indicated that both PLE and PLE were abundant in rosmarinic acid and bioactive phenolic compounds.

A low-value by-product of cold-pressed sesame oil is defatted black sesame cake (DBSC). The remaining protein and essential amino acids may be utilized as a renewable biological source to produce bioactive products. The bioactivities of the protein hydrolysate from black sesame cake and its peptide fractions were examined in this study for in vitro antioxidant activity and inhibition of DPP-IV, ACE, α-amylase, α-glucosidase, and pancreatic lipase.

Background: To address the problems related to drug resistance and medication safety, the rational drug use (RDU) policy has been implemented in Thailand since 2014. Theoretically, the policy was supposed to bring drastic changes to the way clinicians prescribe medications and its impacts on clinical practice, however, it has not yet been investigated. The study aimed to describe the experience of community health nurses with regard to the impact of RDU policy implementation on their practices.

With the continuous development of today's society, digital image processing technology has been applied in more and more fields, among which authentication in digital image processing technology has become a hot field. In the process of identity verification, the face is used as the basis of feature recognition because the method of using the face as a feature basis is more easily accepted by the public and the operation is simple and the feasibility is stronger. In the online education model, observing and comparing students' facial emotions through the platform and analyzing students' learning goals, learning effects, learning emotions, and contradictions and conflicts arising in the process of cooperation have become an effective teaching evaluation system.

Although Opisthorchis viverrini (OV), lifestyle, and diet co-factors have a relatively high prevalence in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) population, cumulative (0-74) incidence rates of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) do not reach 5% in this region. Other co-factors must influence, but in this study, we only highlighted positive factors for guiding joint planning to address public health problems at the regional level. Therefore, we aimed to study prevalence and factors associated with CCA incidence focusing only on protective factors.

Industrially, after the removal of oil from perilla seeds (PS) by screw-type compression, the large quantities of residual perilla seed meal (PSM) becomes non-valuable waste. Therefore, to increase the health value and price of PS and PSM, we focused on the biological effects of perilla seed oil (PSO) and rosmarinic acid-rich fraction (RA-RF) extracted from PSM for their role in preventing oxidative stress and inflammation caused by TNF-α exposure in an A549 lung adenocarcinoma culture model. The A549 cells were pretreated with PSO or RA-RF and followed by TNF-α treatment.

Edible viviparid snails are suspected to be the source of human echinostomiasis in Thailand, but little is known about the prevalence of viviparid snail parasitization by echinostomes in snails sold for human consumption in wet markets. Here, the prevalence of echinostome metacercariae and the association between parasitic intensity and host size, as well as the relationship to host species, were investigated. In total, 1100 viviparid snails belonging to four species (Cipangopaludina annandalei, Filopaludina martensi martensi, F.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common chronic disease in aging men. The present study aimed to identify the active fraction of a purple rice extract and determine its anti-prostatic hyperplasia effect in a testosterone implanted rat model. The hexane insoluble fraction (HIF) which mainly contains hydrophilic phytochemicals from the purple rice crude ethanolic extract was defined as the active fraction, due to a potent effect on the downregulation of androgen receptor (AR) expression in malignant prostate cells, in addition to low toxicity for normal fibroblast cells.

Carrion flies are the primary insects colonizing vertebrate carrion; however, limited information is available on the variation in the time of colonization (TOC) as related to time of placement (TOP) and time of death (TOD), particularly in Thailand. Three seasonal sets of nine broiler carcasses (euthanized and placed in field within 0.5 h after death) were placed in mesh enclosures within a disturbed deciduous dipterocarp forest at Nakhonsawan Province, upper-central Thailand, for 3 d to determine the colonization time by carrion flies.

White dwarfs are compact stars, similar in size to Earth but approximately 200,000 times more massive. Isolated white dwarfs emit most of their power from ultraviolet to near-infrared wavelengths, but when in close orbits with less dense stars, white dwarfs can strip material from their companions and the resulting mass transfer can generate atomic line and X-ray emission, as well as near- and mid-infrared radiation if the white dwarf is magnetic. However, even in binaries, white dwarfs are rarely detected at far-infrared or radio frequencies.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), caused by the virus strain H5N1, currently occurs worldwide with the greatest burden in Southeast Asia where the disease was first reported. In Thailand where the disease was first confirmed in January 2004, the virus had been persistent as a major threat to the poultry industry and human health over the past several years. It was generally hypothesized that the main reason for the disease to circulate in Thailand was the existence of traditional backyard chickens and free-range ducks raising systems.
