Introduction: Prostate cancer is an androgen-dependent malignancy, and the use of androgen deprivation therapies frequently results in treatment resistance, relapse, and the development of aggressive castration-resistant tumors. Patchouli alcohol, a tricyclic sesquiterpene derived from Pogostemon cablin of the Labiatae family, has demonstrated potential in modulating inflammatory responses and tumor progression. This study aimed to investigate the mechanisms through which patchouli alcohol influences inflammatory pathways associated with prostate cancer using bioinformatics and experimental validation.

Background: With genetics thought to explain a portion of the overall risk of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), environmental risk factors in early life have been proposed. Previous studies on the incidence of T1DM in children or adolescents by gestational age at birth have yielded inconsistent results.
Objectives: To clarify the association between gestational age at birth and T1DM in childhood/adolescence and to offer evidence-based support for the prevention or screening of T1DM.

Background: Young chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) refers to people with COPD between the ages of 20 and 50 years. Current epidemiological studies focus on local geography, and there is a lack of global-level analysis. This study provides in-depth analyses of the disease burden of young COPD at global, regional, and national levels.

Pyroptosis, a recently identified cellular demise regulated by gasdermin family proteins, is emerging as a promising avenue in cancer immunotherapy. However, the realm of light-controlled pyroptosis in cancer cells remains largely unexplored. In this study, we took a deliberate approach devoid of any chemical alterations to develop a novel photosensitizer called "pharmaceutical-dots (pharm-dots)" by combining nonemissive polymers (Poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid), PLGA) with nonfluorescent invisible molecules like curcumin, berberine, oridonin into PLGA nanoparticles (PLGA-NPs).

Quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) is a vital molecular technique for biomarker detection; however, its clinical application is impeded by the scarcity of robust biomarkers and the inherent limitations of the technology. This study conducted a bibliometric analysis of 4063 qPCR-based biomarker studies sourced from the Web of Science (WOS) database, employing VOSviewer and CiteSpace to generate multi-dimensional structural insights into this field. The results reveal a growing trend in research within this domain, with gene expression analysis playing a central role in the identification of potential biomarkers.

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) has been widely used to detect highway pavement structures. In recent years, deep learning techniques have achieved significant success in image recognition, which is potentially relevant for interpreting ground-penetrating radar data. This is because the various types of damage develop at different levels and in different quantities.

Environmental endocrine disruptors, as exogenous chemicals that interfere with hormonal behavior, are known to cause testicular Leydig cell death and senescence. The incidence of diseases of the male reproductive system has been increasing over the past half-century. Genetic defects alone cannot explain the rapid increase in incidence, and there is growing evidence that environmental factors or lifestyle changes are responsible for the high incidence in recent years.

Introduction: Primary hypertension (PH) affects over one billion individuals globally, yet less than 30% achieve controlled blood pressure (BP) with medication. Many patients require a combination of multiple medications to reach targets, but adverse effects and financial burdens undermine adherence. Additionally, prehypertension affects 25%-50% of adults, increasing the risk of cardiovascular complications.

Carbon neutrality of bioactive materials is vital in promoting sustainable development for human society. Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) is a class of typical carbon-cycle bio-polyesters synthesized by microorganisms using sugars, organic acids, and even carbon dioxide. PHAs first degrade into 3-hydroxybutyrate (3HB) before further breaking down into carbon dioxide and water, aligning with carbon-neutral goals.

Amid the new industrial revolution, digital technology and green finance play pivotal roles in shifting towards a low-carbon economy. This paper establishes a coherent research framework by integrating digital technology, green financing, and carbon emission performance. Utilizing a multifaceted dataset that combines provincial panel data with corporate listings databases, this study evaluates the development of green finance using a hybrid weighing methodology that merges the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) with the spatial-temporal entropy weight method.

In image segmentation for medical image analysis, effective upsampling is crucial for recovering spatial information lost during downsampling. This challenge becomes more pronounced when dealing with diverse medical image modalities, which can significantly impact model performance. Plain and standard skip connections, widely used in most models, often fall short of maintaining high segmentation accuracy across different modalities, because essential spatial information transferred from the encoder to the decoder is lost.

Cultivable microbial communities associated with plants inhabiting extreme environments have great potential in biotechnological applications. However, there is a lack of knowledge about these microorganisms from Bryophyllum pinnatum (which survives in severely barren soil) and their ability to promote plant growth. The present study focused on the isolation, identification, biochemical characterization, and potential applications of root endophytic bacteria and rhizosphere bacteria.
