Acute kidney injury (AKI) is one of the most important indications of severe clinical symptoms in patients with diquat poisoning and is closely related to poor prognosis. However, current studies have rarely focused on early warnings of diquat-related AKI, which is not conducive to the treatment of patients with early clinical diquat poisoning. In this study, untargeted plasma metabolomics was employed to reveal the differences between diquat-poisoned patients with and without AKI, as well as between patients and healthy volunteers.

Background And Aims: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic neurodegenerative disorder, and past research suggests that adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MD) may influence the risk of PD. However, there are varying conclusions among different studies regarding the correlation between long-term adherence to the MD and the occurrence of PD. This meta-analysis aimed to investigate the association between MD adherence and PD incidence.

In recent years, exercise has shown a powerful ability to regulate the gut microbiota received with concern. For instance, compared with the sedentary group, high-level athletes showed a different gut microbiota composition and remarkable capability of physiological metabolism. In addition, different diet patterns (, high-fat diet, high carbohydrate diet ) have different effects on gut microbiota, which can also affect exercise performance.

Molecules in immune cells plays a vital role in the pathogenesis of ischemic stroke (IS). The aim of this study is to profile the landscape of molecules on the basis of immune cells in IS peripheral blood and construct an immunoregulatory competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network. We collected and combined multiple public transcriptome datasets from the peripheral blood of IS patients and healthy controls.

Sweet wormwood (Artemisia annua), an annual herb belonging to the Compositae family, is the main source of the potent anti-malarial drug artemisinin, which is mainly produced in glandular trichomes of A. annua leaves. The WD40 protein family is one of the largest protein families in eukaryotes and plays crucial roles in regulating plant growth and development, stress responses, and secondary metabolite biosynthesis.

5-Fluorouracil (5-Fu) is a chemotherapeutic agent widely used to treat various cancers, which causes intestinal mucositis as a common side effect. Ginsenoside Rc, an active compound with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immunomodulatory, and antitumor properties, has protective effects against chemotherapy-induced mucositis caused by 5-Fu. This study aims to evaluate the protective effects of Rc on 5-Fu-induced chemotherapy-related mucositis and to elucidate its underlying mechanisms.

GABAergic signaling and GABA receptors play crucial roles in regulating the physiology of oligodendrocyte-lineage cells, including their proliferation, differentiation, and myelination. Therefore, they are promising targets for studying how spinal oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) respond to injuries and neurodegenerative diseases like multiple sclerosis. Taking advantage of the temporally controlled and cell-specific genetic downregulation of GABA receptors from OPCs, our investigation addresses their specific influence on OPC behavior in the gray and white matter of the mouse spinal cord.

Ferroptosis plays a significant role in the pathological mechanism of acute kidney injury (AKI) for many etiologies. The characteristics of ferroptosis involve many aspects, including iron metabolism, lipid metabolism, and glutathione metabolism. In terms of iron metabolism, ferroptosis involves the accumulation of labile iron; in terms of lipid metabolism, ferroptosis involves the peroxidation of lipids, especially certain phospholipids; in terms of glutathione metabolism, ferroptosis involves the reduction of reduced glutathione (GSH) levels, leading to a decrease in the activity of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4).

In recent years, probiotics, as a class of biologically active microorganisms, have increasingly attracted attention for their potential in treating neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs). To comprehensively assess the effects of probiotics on clinical symptoms and systemic inflammation regulation in various NDDs, this systematic review conducted a detailed search of the Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed, and Web of Science databases, ultimately including 22 eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs), with 4 RCTs for Alzheimer's Disease (AD), 10 RCTs for Parkinson's Disease (PD), 2 RCTs for Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and 2 RCTs for Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), and intervention durations ranging from 4 to 16 weeks. The comprehensive analysis indicates that probiotics help improve clinical symptoms related to NDDs, including gastrointestinal function, cognitive function, quality of life, and mental health.

Approximately 100 DUBs in humans counteract E3 ubiquitin ligases, finely balancing ubiquitination and deubiquitination processes to maintain cellular proteostasis and respond to various stimuli and stresses. Given their role in modulating ubiquitination levels of various substrates, DUBs are increasingly linked to human health and disease.

Drug design has always been pursuing techniques with time- and cost-benefits. Virtual screening, generally classified as ligand-based (LBVS) and structure-based (SBVS) approaches, could identify active compounds in the large chemical library to reduce time and cost. Owing to the intrinsic flaws and complementary nature of both approaches, continued efforts have been made to combine them to mitigate limitations.

Objectives: This review endeavors to elucidate the complex interplay underlying diseases associated with ferroptosis and to delineate the multifaceted mechanisms by which triterpenoid and steroidal saponins modulate this form of cell death.
Methods: A meticulous examination of the literature was undertaken, drawing from an array of databases including Web of Science, PubMed, and Wiley Library, with a focus on the keywords "ferroptosis," "saponin," "cancer," "inflammation," "natural products," and "signaling pathways."
Key Findings: Ferroptosis represents a distinctive mode of cell death that holds considerable promise for the development of innovative therapeutic strategies targeting a wide range of diseases, especially cancer and inflammatory disorders.
