Objective: Miniscrews are commonly utilized as temporary anchorage devices (TADs) in cases of maxillary protrusion and premolar extraction. This study aimed to investigate the effects and potential side effects of two conventional miniscrew configurations on the maxillary incisors.
Methods: Eighty-two adult patients with maxillary dentoalveolar protrusion who had undergone bilateral first premolar extraction were retrospectively divided into three groups: non-TAD, two posterior miniscrews only (P-TADs), and two anterior and two posterior miniscrews combined (AP-TADs).

Background: Pineal region tumors encompass a wide range of pathologies, presenting challenges in pre-surgical characterization and exhibiting variable prognostic outcomes across different tumor types. This study aims to identify key imaging features from pre-treatment magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of pineal region tumors to aid in prognostic analysis.
Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 33 patients with pineal region tumors who underwent pre-treatment imaging at the Seventh Medical Center of the Chinese PLA General Hospital between January 2010 and June 2023.

Elderly patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) face a heightened risk of cognitive frailty (CF), which significantly compromises quality of life. Early identification of at-risk individuals and timely intervention are essential. Nevertheless, current CF risk prediction models fall short in accuracy to adequately fulfill clinical requirements.

Background: The standard first-line treatment for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive recurrent/metastatic breast cancer currently includes pertuzumab plus trastuzumab and docetaxel. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of KN026, an anti-HER2 bispecific antibody, plus docetaxel in first-line treatment of HER2-positive recurrent/metastatic breast cancer.
Methods: This open-label, single-arm, phase II study enrolled patients with HER2-positive recurrent/metastatic breast cancer in 19 centers across China from December 30, 2019 to May 27, 2021.

Background: Systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) are novel inflammatory markers based on neutrophil, platelet and lymphocyte counts. Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory vascular disease. This study aimed to verify the predictive value of the clinical parameters such as systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) for the severity in Large Artery Atherosclerosis (LAA) stroke patients.

Polarization of microglia following spinal cord injury (SCI) is a pivotal pathological process of secondary injury. Although differentiation antagonistic nonprotein coding RNA (DANCR) has been implicated in immune and inflammatory responses across various diseases, its role in SCI still unclear. This research aimed to clarify the underlying mechanisms of DANCR in SCI recovery by investigating its expression pattern in microglia.

Postpartum depression (PPD) profoundly impacts the mental and physical health of women globally and is an incurable psychological disorder. Traditional pharmacological treatments often have strong side effects and may adversely affect infant health through breastfeeding, underscoring the critical need for natural and gentle treatment strategies. Sugemule-7, a traditional Chinese medicine comprising multiple natural plant ingredients, represents a potentially safer and more effective alternative.

Stroke induces cardiac dysfunction, which increases poststroke mortality and morbidity. An imbalance in the autonomic nervous system resulting from brain injury may serve as the underlying mechanism. The present study investigated whether transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) attenuates poststroke cardiac dysfunction by activating the parasympathetic nervous system.

Background And Aims: The optimal management strategy for newly diagnosed pulmonary ground-glass nodules (GGNs) with suspected inflammatory etiology remains controversial in clinical practice. Empirical anti-inflammatory therapy is commonly used, but its efficacy compared with that of follow-up observation lacks high-quality evidence. Therefore, this study aims to compare the effectiveness of empirical anti-infective therapy and follow-up observation for pulmonary GGNs in real-world settings.

Primary cilia are microtubule-based organelles that function as cellular antennae to address multiple metabolic and extracellular cues. The past decade has seen significant advances in understanding the pro-tumorigenic role of N-methyladenosine (mA) modification in tumorigenesis. Nevertheless, whether mA modification modulates the cilia dynamics during cancer progression remains unclear.

The pathogenesis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is complex and is mainly influenced by genetic and environmental factors. Some research has indicated that environmental aspects may interplay with genetic aspects to enhance the risk, and microRNAs (miRNAs) are probably factors in explaining this link between heredity and the environment. MiRNAs are single-stranded noncoding RNAs that can regulate gene expression at the posttranscriptional level.
