In mice with acute gouty arthritis, this study intends to examine the mechanism of action of AKK PROBIO. We developed a mouse model of acute gouty arthritis using sodium urate. The efficiency and mechanism of AKK PROBIO in preventing acute gouty arthritis in mice were then determined by examining the degree of foot swelling, pain threshold, blood biochemical indicators, histological alterations, and messenger RNA (mRNA) expression changes.

In the last few decades, tear-based biosensors for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) have provided new avenues for the diagnosis of diabetes. The tear CGMs constructed from nanomaterials have been extensively demonstrated by various research activities in this field and are gradually witnessing their most prosperous period. A timely and comprehensive review of the development of tear CGMs in a compartmentalized manner from a nanomaterials perspective would greatly broaden this area of research.

Staple peptides, which have a significantly enhanced pharmacological profile, are promising therapeutic molecules due to their remarkable resistance to proteolysis and cell-penetrating properties. In this study, we designed and synthesized a series of PMI-M3-based dual-targeting MDM2/MDMX staple peptides and compared them with straight-chain peptides. The staple peptide SM3-4 screened in the study induced apoptosis of tumor cells at low μM concentrations, and the helix was significantly increased.

In eukaryotes such as humans, some non-coding single-stranded RNAs (ncRNAs) help to regulate the pre- and post-transcriptional expression of certain genes, which in turn control many important physiological processes, such as cell proliferation, distinctions, invasion, angiogenesis, and embryonic development. microRNA-126 is an important member of these miRNAs that can be directly or indirectly involved in the control of angiogenesis. Recently, numerous studies have expounded that microRNA-126 can inhibit or promote angiogenesis as well as attenuate inflammatory responses through complex molecular mechanisms.

Background: The rs641738 single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) has been proven to influence various liver diseases, but its association with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) susceptibility has been debated. To address this discrepancy, we conducted the current systematic review and meta-analysis.
Aim: To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis on association of SNP and HCC susceptibility.

Wearable microneedle sensors for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) have great potential for clinical impact by allowing access to large data sets to provide individualized treatment plans. To date, their development has been challenged by the accurate wide linear range tracking of interstitial fluid (ISF) glucose (Glu) levels. Here, we present a CGM platform consisting of a three-electrode microneedle electrochemical biosensor and a fully integrated radio-chemical analysis system.

Biomass, a renewable hydrocarbon, is one of the favorable sources of advanced carbon materials owing to its abundant resources and diverse molecular structures. Biomass-based two-dimensional carbon nanomaterials (2D-BC) have attracted extensive attention due to their tunable structures and properties, and have been widely used in the design and fabrication of electrochemical sensing platforms. This review embarks on the thermal conversion process of biomass from different sources and the synthesis strategy of 2D-BC materials.

Cerebral ischemia is a serious cerebrovascular disease with the characteristics of high morbidity, disability, and mortality. Currently, stem cell therapy has been extensively applied to a wide range of diseases, including neurological disorders, autoimmune deficits, and other diseases. Transplantation therapy with neural stem cells (NSCs) is a very promising treatment method, which not only has anti-inflammatory, antiapoptotic, promoting angiogenesis, and neurogenesis effects, but also can improve some side effects related to thrombolytic therapy.

In the study, we found that NEP was abnormally increased in tubular epithelial cells of CKD patients, as well as unilateral ureteral obstruction and adenine diet-induced mice. Treatment with a United States Food and Drug Administration-approved NEP inhibitor Sacubitrilat (LBQ657) could alleviate ferroptosis, tubular injury, and delay the progression of kidney fibrosis in experimental mice.

Objective: Diabetes mellitus-induced oxidative stress (OS) causes liver injury. Intraoperative pumping of dexmedetomidine (DEX) effectively reduced the postoperative OS response in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and had a certain protective effect on liver function. However, the mechanisms of the protective effect on the liver remained unclear.

Three kinds of excipients were selected to investigate the anti-bitterness effect on the extremely bitter characteristics of Andrographis Herba decoction, and the optimal combined anti-bitterness formula was obtained. The preparation principle of different excipients was clarified by virtual screening and experimental verification to explore the advantages of the three kinds of excipients in the combined anti-bitterness effect. Sensory evaluation showed that mPEG_(2000)-PLLA_(2000), γ-cyclodextrin(γ-CD), and aspartame all had good anti-bitterness effect, which reduced the bitterness intensity of Andrographis Herba decoction by 0.

Despite the development of HPV vaccines and screening programs, cervical cancer is still a serious threat to women's health. Early-stage cervical cancer is mainly treated by surgery. However, considering the serious complications after surgery, hyperthermia is recommended to enhance the effect of chemotherapy, retain the integrity of cervix, improve the treatment effect, which provides a therapeutic basis for the early treatment of cervical cancer.

DHA has been shown to be neuroprotective and important to neurogenesis, but its role in HG-induced brain injury and the underlying mechanisms remain unknown. To elucidate the therapeutic effect of DHA, we established a mouse model with insulin-induced hypoglycemic brain injury and an in vitro model of HT-22 cells using a sugar-free medium. DHA treatment significantly reduced neuronal death and improved HG-induced learning and memory deficits.
