Background: The SYNTAX score (SXscore), an anatomical-based scoring tool reflecting the complexity of coronary anatomy, has been associated with the mortality and prognosis of coronary artery disease (CAD). Clinical SYNTAX score (CSS), incorporating clinical factors further augmented the utility of the SXscore to longer-term risk. C-reactive protein (CRP) is related to SXscore.

LncRNA MIR31HG targets HIF1A and P21 to facilitate head and neck cancer cell proliferation and tumorigenesis by promoting cell-cycle progression.

LncRNAs are involved in the initiation and progression of cancer. However, the molecular mechanism and diverse clinical prognosis of MIR31HG in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) are still unclear. Our previous microarray analysis showed that lncRNA MIR31HG interacted with HIF1A may play an oncogenic role in laryngeal squamous cell cancer (LSCC).

Pancreatic acinar cell carcinoma-case report and literature review.

Background: Pancreatic acinar cell carcinoma (ACC) is a rare tumor that constitutes 1% of all pancreatic neoplasms. Pancreatic ACC has unique characteristics in terms of biological behavior, imaging and prognosis.

Case Presentation: The present study reported two cases of pancreatic ACC confirmed by postoperative pathology and both cases exhibited several different imaging features and laboratory test results.

Dihydromyricetin induces apoptosis in a human choriocarcinoma cell line.

Choriocarcinoma is a malignant trophoblastic tumor. The development of novel drugs is required to reduce the toxicity of current multi-agent chemotherapy and to successfully treat chemoresistant cases of the disease. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of dihydromyricetin (DMY) on the human choriocarcinoma cell line, JAr, to identify a novel drug for the treatment of choriocarcinoma.

PEITC promotes neurite growth in primary sensory neurons via the miR-17-5p/STAT3/GAP-43 axis.

The present study explored a key miRNA that plays a vital role in sciatic nerve conditioning injury promoting repair of injured dorsal column, and validated its function. Microarray analysis revealed miR-17-5p expression decreased sharply at 3, 7 and 14 days in the sciatic nerve conditioning injury group compared with the simple dorsal column lesion group. After miR-17-5p inhibition in DRG neurons, GAP-43 expression was upregulated and neurite growth was increased.

Bevacizumab and risk of intracranial hemorrhage in patients with brain metastases: a meta-analysis.

Administration of bevacizumab to patients with brain metastases (BM) is controversial due to concerns about the increased risk of intracranial hemorrhage (ICH). This meta-analysis assessed whether the risk of ICH increases in BM patients receiving treatments that contain bevacizumab versus without. PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and annual meeting abstracts of the American Society of Clinical Oncology up to 13 November 2016 were searched for studies that referred to ICH complications due to bevacizumab in patients with BM.

Cell sheet-based multilayered liver tumor models for anti-cancer drug screening.

Objective: To fabricate in vitro cell-dense, three-dimensional (3D) tumor models by employing a cell sheet technology for testing anti-cancer drug efficacy.

Results: The stratified liver tumor models were fabricated by stacking contiguous HepG2 cell sheets. Triple-layer (3L), double-layer (2L), single-layer (1L) cell sheet-based liver tumor models (CSLTMs) demonstrated 106, 96, 85% cell viability, respectively, after 3 days treatment of 10 µM doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX), while cell viability in two-dimensional (2D) conventional culture (control) was 27%.

SLC7A11, a component of cysteine/glutamate transporter, is a novel biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

Solute carrier family 7, membrane 11 (SLC7A11) or (xCT) is a component of the cysteine-glutamate transporter, which plays a critical role in glutathione homeostasis which is important to protect cells from oxidative stress. SLC7A11 is distributed in various tissues and participates in the occurrence of a number of diseases, particularly in the pathogenesis of malignant tumors, but its role in laryngeal cancer development has not yet been clearly defined. The objective of the present study was to investigate the role of SLC7A11 in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC).

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common chronic autoimmune and incurable disease. The aim of the present study was to investigate the therapeutic effect and mechanism of the total saponins of Rhizoma (TSRDN) in RA. A collagen induced-arthritis (CIA) rat model was established.

Diagnostic Efficacy of Ultrasonographic Characteristics of Thyroid Carcinoma in Predicting Cervical Lymph Node Metastasis.

The goals of this study were to determine the ultrasonographic characteristics of thyroid carcinoma (TC) and to explore the diagnostic efficacy of these ultrasonographic characteristics in predicting cervical lymph node metastasis (LNM). From June 2012 to June 2014, a total of 186 TC patients were recruited from the Central Hospital of Chengde City, Hebei, China. We divided them into two groups: the metastatic group comprised 129 nodules (n = 86), and the non-metastatic group 117 nodules (n = 100).

The association between endometriosis and survival outcomes of ovarian cancer: Evidence-based on a meta-analysis.

Background: Although it is generally recognized that endometriosis was significantly associated with higher risk of ovarian cancer, the association between endometriosis and the cancer survival outcomes is still not clear. This meta-analysis aims to pool previous studies and to make an update estimate.

Methods: Relevant studies were searched among PubMed, Medline and Embase.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of mannatide combined with sodium cantharidate vitamin B6 in the treatment of malignant pleural effusions.

Materials And Methods: Data for 69 patients with malignant pleural effusions who did not receive systemic chemotherapy were collected. Injection into the thorax using mannatide combined with sodium cantharidate vitamin B6 was performed for 37 patients in the experimental group and mannatide combined with cisplatin for 32 patients in the control group.

Effects of transforming growth factor-β1 on the proliferation and invasion of the HTR-8/SVneo cell line.

Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) is involved in the regulation of trophoblast cell proliferation and invasion. However, the mechanism underlying this process remains unknown, which is predominantly due to the difficulty in obtaining and maintaining primary trophoblast cells in culture over a long period of time. The HTR-8/SVneo cell line is an immortalized trophoblast cell line, which has been reported to exhibit a number of similar characteristics to those of parental trophoblast cells.

Angiotensin-converting enzyme I/D polymorphism and aortic aneurysm risk: a meta-analysis.

Objectives: Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) I/D polymorphism has been implicated in aortic aneurysm risk, but individual published studies show inconclusive results. The aim of this study was to explore a more precise estimation of its relation with aortic aneurysm using meta-analysis.

Methods: Electronic searches of PubMed and EMBASE databases were conducted for all publications through February 2014.

Primary osteosarcoma of the breast with abundant chondroid matrix and fibroblasts has a good prognosis: A case report and review of the literature.

The present study describes the case of a 77-year-old female with a recently self-detected, painless, 7-cm lump in the left breast, without evidence of metastasis clinically, who underwent mastectomy with dissection of the axillary lymph nodes. The tumor did not invade the chest wall and skin. The tumor was comprised of abundant chondroid matrix and fibrous tissue, with focal osteoid matrix, and was classified as a chondroblastic/fibroblastic variant.

Objective: To investigate dynamic changes in coagulability and von Willebrand factor (vWF), and explore their correlation with prognosis of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Methods: Fifty CPR patients were divided into three groups according to the outcome. A group: 25 patients with successful recovery in the initial stage with restoration of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) lasting at least for 72 hours, but died ultimately; B group: 10 patients with successful recovery and finally survived; C group: the control group, 15 patients who died or ROSC<2 hours after CPR.
