Associations between serum electrolyte and short-term outcomes in patients with acute decompensated heart failure.

Introduction: There is a dearth of comprehensive studies on the association between serum electrolyte and adverse short-term prognosis of Chinese patients with acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF).

Patients And Methods: A total of 5166 patients with ADHF were divided into four serum electrolyte-related study populations (potassium ( = 5145), sodium ( = 5135), chloride ( = 4966), serum total calcium (STC) ( = 4143)) under corresponding exclusions. Different logistic regression models were utilized to gauge the association between these electrolytes or the number of electrolyte abnormalities and the risk of a composite of all-cause mortality or 30-day heart failure (HF) readmission.

Effect of long-term nursing intervention on quality of life and social support of patients with coronary heart disease after percutaneous coronary intervention.

Objective: To assess the effect of long-term nursing intervention on the quality of life and social support of patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Methods: A randomised controlled trial was designed. A total of 60 patients with coronary heart disease treated with PCI were randomly divided into the control group and the intervention group.

Background: Verruca plana is a benign proliferation of the skin caused by human papilloma virus (HPV) infection. Fresh garlic can serve as an alternative therapy, and it has shown considerable effectiveness as a topical treatment for verruca plana. However, topical garlic treatment for verruca plana triggered Koebner phenomenon (KP), which has not been previously reported.

Neonatal Cri du chat syndrome with atypical facial appearance: A case report.

Background: Cri du chat syndrome (CdCS), also known as 5p deletion syndrome (5p-) is a syndrome caused by partial deletion of the 5p chromosome in human beings. The incidence accounts for 1/50000 and the cause of CdCS is related to partial deletion of chromosome 5 short arm (p). CdCS is a sporadic event.

Association between tricuspid annular systolic velocity and poor short-term prognosis in patients with acute decompensated heart failure.

Background: There is scant data on the association of the Pulsed wave-Doppler tissue imaging (PW-DTI)-derived tricuspid lateral annular peak systolic velocity (S') and poor short-term prognosis of patients with acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF).

Patients And Methods: A total number of 732 participants from the Heb-ADHF registry in China were divided into three groups according to the corresponding status of tricuspid S'. Demographic characteristics, comorbidities, physical examinations, lab tests, and medications were compared among the different groups.

Ectopic papillary thyroid carcinoma mimicking distant metastatic tissue.

We report a case of a 50-year-old woman presenting with a solid nodule in each lung. She was previously suspected of having lung cancer and distant pulmonary metastasis on the basis of imaging findings. Surgical pathology revealed that the left lung nodule was adenocarcinoma, but the contralateral nodule was papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC).

Stroke incidence and cognitive outcomes of intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis: study protocol for a multicenter, prospective, observational cohort study.

Background: Intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS) is one of the leading causes of stroke worldwide. Current diagnostic evaluations and treatments remain insufficient to assess the vulnerability of intracranial plaques and reduce the recurrence of stroke in symptomatic ICAS. On the other hand, asymptomatic ICAS is associated with an increased risk of cognitive impairment.

Clinical efficacy of early postoperative intensity-modulated radiotherapy combined with Temozolomide chemotherapy in the treatment of patients with malignant glioma.

Objectives: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of early postoperative intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) combined with temozolomide chemotherapy in the treatment of patients with malignant glioma.

Methods: In this retrospective cohort study 80 patients with glioma surgery admitted to Chengde Central Hospital from January 2019 to January 2021 were selected and divided into two groups according to postoperative treatment: the experimental group and the control group, with 40 cases in each group. Patients in the experimental group received IMRT combined with temozolomide chemotherapy postoperatively, while those in the control group received IMRT alone.

Anatomic Risk Factors for Osteochondral Fracture of Acute First-Time Patellar Dislocation in Adolescents: A Retrospective Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study.

Objective: To analyze the risk factors for osteochondral fracture (OCF) of first-time acute patellar dislocation (APD) through measurements of patellofemoral anatomy in adolescents.

Methods: In this prospective study, all patients were divided into two groups according to whether OCF was detected on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI): Group A (associated with OCF) and Group B (without OCF). Patellofemoral anatomy was evaluated with four aspects including trochlear/patellar dysplasia, patella location, patellofemoral matching, and morphologic classification.

Objectives: Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by treponema pallidum. Its rash usually affects the trunk and limbs extensively, including the palms and soles of the feet. Secondary syphilis confined to the face is extremely rare.

Validation and derivation of short-term prognostic risk score in acute decompensated heart failure in China.

Background: Few prognostic risk scores (PRSs) have been routinely used in acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). We, therefore, externally validated three published PRSs (3A3B, AHEAD, and OPTIME-CHF) and derived a new PRS to predict the short-term prognosis in ADHF.

Methods: A total of 4550 patients from the Heb-ADHF registry in China were randomly divided into the derivation and validation cohorts (3:2).

Background: Elderly patients tend to have poor self-efficacy and poor confidence in postoperative rehabilitation for hip fractures, and are prone to negative emotions, which affect treatment compliance.

Background: The efficacy of ethiodized poppyseed oil in hysterosalpingography (HSG) image quality and fertility enhancement has been revealed, but whether this HSG modality has similar effects in the Chinese population is still unclear.

Methods: Between July 18, 2017, and December 29, 2019, this multicentric, randomized, two-arm, clinical trial was performed involving 15 medical centers. Infertile women meeting HSG indications were randomly assigned to an oil group and a water group.

Estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1) XbaI polymorphisms may affect breast cancer susceptibility; however, the results of previously published studies are inconsistent. This meta-analysis aimed to investigate the relationship between ESR1 XbaI polymorphism and breast cancer risk.  Methods: Articles from the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, WoS, Scopus, Wanfang Data, CNKI, CBM and CQVIP databases were systematically searched to determine the association between ESR1 XbaI polymorphism and breast cancer risk.

Objective: Tracheal intubation under general anesthesia is more likely to aggravate the injury of the cervical spine and spinal cord. We aim to explore the effect of dexmedetomidine combined with intubating laryngeal mask airway (ILMA) on anesthesia and stress response in patients with a cervical spine injury.

Patients And Methods: One hundred twenty patients were retrospectively allocated into the control group (midazolam + ILMA) and intervention group (dexmedetomidine + ILMA).

Night shift is a common work schedule. This study aimed to analyze the interaction between age and frequency of night shift on the hypertension prevalence. A census questionnaire was conducted in 512 medical institutions in 11 cities of Hebei Province.

Oblique lateral interbody fusion combined with different internal fixations for the treatment of degenerative lumbar spine disease: a finite element analysis.

Background: Little is known about the biomechanical performance of different internal fixations in oblique lumbar interbody fusion (OLIF). Here, finite element (FE) analysis was used to describe the biomechanics of various internal fixations and compare and explore the stability of each fixation.
