The latest research shows that the imbalance of reactive oxygen species (ROS) leads to oxidative stress-induced osteoblast apoptosis, which is an important factor in the development of osteoporosis. Methyltransferase like 3 (METTL3) is the most widely known methyltransferase, which has a marked effect on the cells of oxidative stress reaction. However, the precise mechanism through which METTL3 mediates oxidative stress-induced osteoblast apoptosis remains uncleared.

Anaerobic metabolism promotes breast cancer survival via Histone-3 Lysine-18 lactylation mediating PPARD axis.

Cell Death Discov

February 2025

Department of Clinical Laboratory, Shandong Provincial Third Hospital, Shandong University, Jinan, China.

Histone lactylation plays a crucial role in cancer progression, but its impact on breast cancer (BC) tumorigenesis is still unclear. We utilized chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing with H3K18la antibodies, transcriptomics of clinical BC samples, and proteomics and ATAC-seq analyses of in vivo tumors to identify the genes regulated by H3K18la and the transcription factor PPARD. qPCR and Western blot assays were used to detect expressions of molecules.

Front Pharmacol

January 2025

Department of Medicinal Chemistry, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cheeloo College of Medicine, Shandong University, Jinan, Shandong, China.

Background: Breast cancer remains a leading cause of mortality among women worldwide, with existing therapeutic options often accompanied by significant side effects and a persistent risk of disease recurrence. This highlights the need for novel drug candidates with new mechanisms of action by targeting alternative signaling pathways. While hERG channel is notoriously regarded as an off-target due to drug-induced cardiotoxicity, its therapeutic potential as a drug target remains largely unexplored.

Background: Infection after craniocerebral operation has always been a very focused problem, and dural closure can reduce perioperative infection by reducing drainage volume and subcutaneous effusion, so how to effectively perform dural closure seems to be a small but not negligible problem.

Methods: We proposed a classification and grading system for dural incisions based on the type and degree of suture, and based on the system, a standardized operation process for ADS (absorbable dural sealant) was developed. Then, we conducted a retrospective study.
