Background: Colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM) is the main cause of death in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients worldwide. In the initial stage of metastasis, primary tumors provide the necessary conditions for metastasis by shaping the local microenvironment of the target organ, forming "premetastatic niches" (PMNs), and extracellular vesicles (EVs) play important roles in shaping PMNs. Therefore, investigating the EVs involved in the regulation of PMNs and their mechanism is highly valuable for the further understanding of CRLM.

Electronic address:

Periodontal ligament stem cell (PDLSC)-based tissue engineering is an important method to promote periodontal tissue regeneration. However, PDLSCs are susceptible to the effects of replicative senescence, leading to reduced proliferation and differentiation abilities and weakened tissue regeneration potential. Senolytics (the combination of dasatinib and quercetin) are drugs that inhibit cellular aging through inducing the apoptosis of senescent cells, but whether they have positive effects during the senescence of PDLSCs is unknown.

Department of Orthopedics, Qilu Hospital, Shandong Key Laboratory of Targeted Drug Delivery and Advanced Pharmaceutics, NMPA Key Laboratory for Clinical Research and Evaluation of Innovative Drug NMPA Key Laboratory for Technology Research and Evaluation of Drug Products and Key Laboratory of Chemical Biology (Ministry of Education), Department of Pharmaceutics, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cheeloo College of Medicine, Shandong University, 44 Cultural West Road, Jinan, Shandong, 250012, China.

The decreased regeneration potential of aging nucleus pulposus resident progenitor cells (NPPCs) fails to resist intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), and strategies to remodel the regeneration capacity of senescent NPPC are urgently needed. A decrease in Klotho gene expression in NPPCs of both old mice and humans exacerbates the impaired regenerative functionality of NPPC. Here, an NPPC-targeted lipid thymine nanoparticle (NT-LNP) is reported for the in situ manipulation of the regenerative repair potential of NPPCs, restoration of degenerated nucleus pulposus tissue, and mitigation of IVDD.

Bacteria are common infectious pathogens that can cause invasive and potentially life-threatening infections. Ionic liquids have emerged as a novel class of alternatives to antibiotics, however their inherent hydrophobicity and immiscible in water exhibits poor adhesion to bacteria and diminishes its utilization and bioavailability for infection control. Herein, an adhesive metal phenolic encapsulated ionic liquid choline and geranate (CAGE@MPN) microcapsules is designed to address the aforementioned challenges and remove bacterial biofilm infections.
