Background: Traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) is an incurable condition that is the largest cause of disability. In previous studies, Isosteviol sodium (STVNa) has been shown to protect rats against acute focal cerebral ischemia; however, the effects of STVNa on SCI recovery in rats remain unknown.
Methods: STVNa was given intraperitoneally after SCI to see if it had any neuroprotective benefits.

Rechallenge with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) shows promise in various cancers, but data in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is limited. This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency and safety of ICI rechallenge in ESCC. This multicenter study analyzed ESCC patients rechallenged with ICI from January 2020 to March 2023 across two medical institutions.

Ferroptosis is a newly identified programmed cell death induced by iron-driven lipid peroxidation and implicated as a potential approach for tumor treatment. However, emerging evidence indicates that hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells are generally resistant to ferroptosis and the underlying molecular mechanism is poorly understood. Here, our study confirms that S100 calcium binding protein P (S100P), which is significantly up-regulated in ferroptosis-resistant HCC cells, efficiently inhibits ferroptosis.

HIV/AIDS remains a significant public health challenge in China, particularly among men who have sex with men (MSM). Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and non-occupational post-exposure Prophylaxis (nPEP) are effective interventions to reduce HIV transmission in high-risk populations. This study assessed awareness and utilization levels of PrEP and nPEP among young MSM (YMSM) aged 18-29 in China and examined associated factors.

Background: Although epigenomic and environment interactions (Epigenome × Environment; Epi × E) might constitute a novel mechanism underlying reward processing, direct evidence is still scarce. We conducted the first longitudinal study to investigate the extent to which DNA methylation of a stress-related gene-NR3C1-interacts with childhood maltreatment in association with young adult reward responsiveness (RR) and the downstream risk of depressive (anhedonia dimension in particular) and anxiety symptoms.
Method: A total of 192 Chinese university students aged 18∼25 (M = 21.

To compare the efficacy and safety of pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (PEG-rhG-CSF) and rhG-CSF in the recovery of neutrophils after induction therapy in ALL patients, PEG-rhG-CSF was injected subcutaneously within 24 ~ 48 h after the end of intravenous infusion of daunorubicin/idarubicin during induction chemotherapy. In rhG-CSF group, patients were given rhG-CSF. The main outcome indexes were the incidence and duration of grade 4 chemotherapy-induced-neutropenia (CIN, ANC less than 0.

Background: Preeclampsia (PE) is a severe pregnancy complication characterized by hypertension and proteinuria. PE poses a substantial threat to the health of both mothers and fetuses, and currently, there is no definitive treatment available. Recent studies have indicated that the transcription factor GATA1 may be implicated in the pathological processes of PE, but the underlying mechanism remains elusive.

The surging prevalence rates of ESBL-producing (ESBL-Ec) pose a serious threat to public health. To date, most research on drug-resistant bacteria and genes has focused on livestock and poultry breeding areas, hospital clinical areas, natural water environments, and wastewater treatment plants. However, few studies have been conducted on drug-resistant bacteria in vegetable cultivation.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) exhibits notable sex differences in prevalence and clinical and neurobiological manifestations. Though the relationship between peripheral inflammation and MDD-related brain changes is well studied, the role of sex as a modifying factor is underexplored. This study aims to assess how sex influences brain and inflammatory markers in MDD.

The incidence and mortality rates of colorectal cancer have been steadily increasing, making it one of the most prevalent cancers globally. Although current chemotherapy drugs have shown some efficacy in treating this disease, their associated side effects necessitate the development of more effective treatments and medications. The clinical application of elemene is widely utilized in tumor treatment; however, its efficacy is hindered by the requirement for high dosage and suboptimal anticancer effects.

Background: The causal relationship between PM (particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter ≤2.5 μm) and common mental disorders, along with its neuropathological mechanisms, remains unclear.
Methods: We used genome-wide association study datasets from the UK Biobank and Psychiatric Genomics Consortium to systematically investigate the causal relationship between PM and nine common psychiatric disorders using two-sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR) methods.
Metastasis continues to pose a significant challenge in tumor treatment. Evidence indicates that choline dehydrogenase (CHDH) is crucial in tumorigenesis. However, the functional role of CHDH in colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis remains unreported.

Inadequate response to androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) frequently arises in prostate cancer, driven by cellular mechanisms that remain poorly understood. Here, we integrated single-cell RNA sequencing, single-cell multiomics, and spatial transcriptomics to define the transcriptional, epigenetic, and spatial basis of cell identity and castration response in the mouse prostate. Leveraging these data along with a meta-analysis of human prostates and prostate cancer, we identified cellular orthologs and key determinants of ADT response and resistance.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is considered the most widespread chronic liver condition globally. Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have pinpointed several genetic loci correlated to MASLD, yet the biological significance of these loci remains poorly understood. Initially, we applied Functional Mapping and Annotation (FUMA) to conduct a functional annotation of the MASLD GWAS summary statistics, which included data from 3242 cases and 707 631 controls.

Background: Antimicrobial resistance poses a significant threat to global health, with its spread intricately linked across human, animal, and environmental sectors. Revealing the antimicrobial resistance gene (ARG) flow among the One Health sectors is essential for better control of antimicrobial resistance.
Results: In this study, we investigated regional ARG transmission among humans, food, and the environment in Dengfeng, Henan Province, China by combining large-scale metagenomic sequencing with culturing of resistant bacterial isolates in 592 samples.

Bone tissue regeneration presents a significant challenge in clinical treatment due to inadequate coordination between implant materials and reparative cells at the biomaterial-bone interfaces. This gap underscores the necessity of enhancing interaction modulation between cells and biomaterials, which is a crucial focus in bone tissue engineering. Metal-polyphenolic networks (MPN) are novel inorganic-organic hybrid complexes that are formed through coordination interactions between phenolic ligands and metal ions.

Spinal cord injury triggers leukocyte mobilization from the peripheral circulation to the injury site, exacerbating spinal cord damage. Simultaneously, bone marrow hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and splenic leukocytes rapidly mobilize to replenish the depleted peripheral blood leukocyte pool. However, current treatments for spinal cord injuries overlook interventions targeting peripheral immune organs and tissues, highlighting the need to develop novel drugs capable of effectively regulating peripheral immunity and treating spinal cord injuries.

Background: The modification of endothelial cells (ECs) biological function under pathogenic conditions leads to the expression of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) markers, defined as endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT). Invisible in onset and slow in progression, atherosclerosis (AS) is a potential contributor to various atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases (ASCVD). By triggering AS, EndMT, the "initiator" of AS, induces the progression of ASCVD such as coronary atherosclerotic heart disease (CHD) and ischemic cerebrovascular disease (ICD), with serious clinical complications such as myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke.
