The particularly interdisciplinary nature of human microbiome research makes the organization and reporting of results spanning epidemiology, biology, bioinformatics, translational medicine and statistics a challenge. Commonly used reporting guidelines for observational or genetic epidemiology studies lack key features specific to microbiome studies. Therefore, a multidisciplinary group of microbiome epidemiology researchers adapted guidelines for observational and genetic studies to culture-independent human microbiome studies, and also developed new reporting elements for laboratory, bioinformatics and statistical analyses tailored to microbiome studies.

Aim: Infection prevention and control (IPC) within residential settings is a central focus of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Youth residential summer camps are an excellent model for such environments and have thus far had mixed results. The aim of this report was to describe the successful implementation of a seven-week overnight summer camp with rapid return to normal activities from June to August 2020.

Objective: The aim of this study was to describe the association of individual-level characteristics (sex, race/ethnicity, birth weight, maternal education) with child BMI within each US Census region and variation in child BMI by region.
Methods: This study used pooled data from 25 prospective cohort studies. Region of residence (Northeast, Midwest, South, West) was based on residential zip codes.

Unlabelled: Often, pediatric intensive care environments are not conducive to healing the sick. Critically ill children experience disruptions in their circadian rhythms, which can contribute to delayed recovery and poor outcomes. We aim to test the hypothesis that children managed via R), a nurse-implemented chronotherapeutic bundle, will experience restorative circadian rhythms compared to children receiving usual care.

Objectives: To evaluate current international practice in PICUs regarding components of the "Assessing Pain, Both Spontaneous Awakening and Breathing Trials, Choice of Sedation, Delirium Monitoring/Management, Early Exercise/Mobility, and Family Engagement/Empowerment" (ABCDEF) bundle.
Design: Online surveys conducted between 2017 and 2019.
Setting: One-hundred sixty-one PICUs across the United States (n = 82), Canada (n = 14), Brazil (n = 27), and Europe (n = 38) participating in the Prevalence of Acute Rehabilitation for Kids in the PICU study.

Introduction: Pelvic osteotomy is indicated in classic bladder exstrophy (CBE) patients with a wide pubic diastasis or non-malleable pelvis. While the safety of pelvic osteotomy in delayed and failed closures is established, there remains less clarity on their safety in newborns. The authors herein sought to present their experience with CBE patients who underwent pelvic osteotomy for assistance with bladder closure during both the newborn and delayed time periods.

Background: This study evaluated the arrhythmia profile and ablation outcome in women with atrial fibrillation (AF) aged ≥75 years.
Methods: A total of 573 consecutive female patients undergoing first AF ablation were classified into group 1: ≥75 years (n = 221) and group 2: < 75 years (n = 352). Isolation of PVs, posterior wall and superior vena cava was performed in all.

Background: Hypertension is common among children with chronic kidney disease (CKD), and dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers (dhCCBs) are frequently used as treatment. The impact of dhCCBs on proteinuria in children with CKD is unclear.
Methods: Data from 722 participants in the Chronic Kidney Disease in Children (CKiD) longitudinal cohort with a median age of 12 years were used to assess the association between dhCCBs and log transformed urine protein/creatinine levels as well as blood pressure control measured at annual visits.

Subpial hemorrhages, typically seen in neonates, are rare but can harm the adjacent brain parenchyma. The purpose of this review is to summarize the anatomy and pathophysiology of subpial hemorrhage and highlight its characteristic neuro-imaging pattern. The distinctive neuroimaging pattern of subpial hemorrhage is best appreciated on brain MRI, which shows the morphology over the cortex and injury to adjacent cortex and subcortical white matter.

Preterm birth occurs at excessively high and disparate rates in the United States. In 2016, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) launched the Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) program to investigate the influence of early life exposures on child health. Extant data from the ECHO cohorts provides the opportunity to examine racial and geographic variation in effects of individual- and neighborhood-level markers of socioeconomic status (SES) on gestational age at birth.

The exstrophy-epispadias complex is a rare congenital anomaly presenting as a wide spectrum of disorders. The complex nature of this malformation leads to continuous investigations of the basic science concepts behind it. Elucidating these concepts allows one to fully understand the mechanisms behind the disease in order to improve diagnosis, management, and treatment ultimately leading to improvement in patient quality of life.

Introduction: Repair of classic bladder exstrophy (CBE) is known to alter dimensions of the bony pelvic ring. Pelvic volume and acetabular configuration are additional metrics which merit analysis in the reconstruction process. Advances in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) allow for precise elucidation of such anatomy in pediatric patients, providing enhanced knowledge of how primary reconstruction may impact factors in pelvic health.

Background: Interventional therapies aiming at excluding the left atrial appendage (LAA) from systemic circulation have been established as a valid alternative to oral anticoagulation in patients at high thromboembolic risk. However, their efficacy on stroke prophylaxis may be compromised owing to incomplete LAA closure. Additionally, the need for an alternative thromboembolic prevention may remain unmet in patients with contraindications to oral anticoagulation whose appendage anatomy is unsuitable for some conventional devices commercially available.

We examined the risk of subsequent neoplasms (SNs) and late mortality in children and adolescents undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) for nonmalignant diseases (NMDs). We included 6028 patients (median age, 6 years; interquartile range, 1-11; range, <1 to 20) from the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (1995-2012) registry. Standardized mortality ratios (SMRs) in 2-year survivors and standardized incidence ratios (SIRs) were calculated to compare mortality and SN rates with expected rates in the general population.
