The incidence of cancer during pregnancy is steadily rising because of the postponement of plans for childbearing. One of the most common cancers diagnosed during pregnancy is cervical cancer. Diagnosis of most cases usually occurs in the early stages, but there are still cases of tumors staged IB2 and higher.

The global demand for hospital care, driven by population growth and medical advances, emphasizes the importance of optimized resource management. Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols aim to expedite patient recovery and reduce health care costs without compromising patient safety or satisfaction. Its principles have been adopted in various surgical specialties but have not fully encompassed all areas of neurosurgery, including craniotomy.

Background And Objectives: Women with multiple sclerosis (MS) are at risk of disease reactivation in the early postpartum period. Ocrelizumab (OCR) is an anti-CD20 therapy highly effective at reducing MS disease activity. Data remain limited regarding use of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs), including OCR, and disease activity during peripregnancy periods.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and their healthcare providers have faced unique challenges related to the interaction between SARS-CoV-2, underlying neurological disease and the use of disease-modifying treatments (DMTs). Key concerns arose, primarily related to the possibility that SARS-CoV-2 infection could trigger the initial demyelinating event or exacerbate disease activity. Another major concern was the safety and efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines, especially for patients undergoing specific treatments that could weaken their antibody responses.

Background: The initial rhythm is a known predictor of survival in extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) patients. However, the effect of the rhythm at hospital admission on outcomes in these patients is less clear.
Methods: This observational, single-center study assessed the influence of the rhythm at hospital admission on 30-day survival and neurological outcomes at discharge in patients who underwent ECPR for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA).

Introduction: Revegetation of barren substrates is often determined by the composition and distance of the nearest plant community, serving as a source of colonizing propagules. Whether such dispersal effect can be observed during the development of soil microbial communities, is not clear. In this study, we aimed to elucidate which factors structure plant and soil bacterial and fungal communities during primary succession on a limestone quarry spoil heap, focusing on the effect of distance to the adjoining xerophilous grassland.

Slowing hot carrier (HC) cooling and improving HC extraction are considered two pivotal factors for enhancing power conversion efficiency in emerging HC photovoltaic applications of perovskites and other materials. Employing ab initio quantum dynamics simulations, we demonstrate the simultaneous slow cooling and efficient extraction of hot electrons at the C/CsPbI interface through dipolar surface passivation with phenethylammonium and 4-fluorophenethylammonium ligands. The passivation effectively suppresses I-Pb lattice vibrations, weakens the hot electron-phonon interaction in CsPbI, and thus slows down the HC cooling.

Background: The aim of this study was to assess whether hypothermia increased survival and improved functional outcome when compared with normothermia in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients with similar characteristics than in previous randomized studies showing benefits for hypothermia.
Methods: Post hoc analysis of a pragmatic, multicenter, randomized clinical trial (TTM-2, NCT02908308). In this analysis, the subset of patients included in the trial who had similar characteristics to patients included in one previous randomized trial and randomized to hypothermia at 33 °C or normothermia (i.

Individuals recovering from COVID-19 may experience persistent impairment in verbal memory performance, potentially due to illness-related hippocampal injury. Although verbal memory dysfunction is central to schizophrenia, the interactions between this vulnerability and COVID-19 remain unclear, with no imaging studies addressing the issue to-date. To explore this gap and generate hypotheses for future research, we adopted a multiple case study approach.

An easy and cheap method for measurement of Ga complexation kinetics was developed. The method is based on UV-Vis quantification of non-complexed chelators after the addition of Cu ions at individual time points. The method was evaluated using established ligands, Hnota and HnotP, and was utilized to study the kinetics of Ga complexation with four new symmetric derivatives of 1,4,7-triazacyclononane bearing methylphosphonate/phosphinate pendant arms - TRAP ligands.

β-Galactosidase from Bacillus circulans ATCC 31382 (BgaD) is a biotechnologically important enzyme for the synthesis of β-galactooligosaccharides (GOS). Among its four isoforms, isoform A (BgaD-A) has distinct synthetic properties. Here, we present cryoelectron microscopy (cryo-EM) structures of BgaD-A and compare them with the known X-ray crystal structure of isoform D (BgaD-D), revealing substantial structural divergences between the two isoforms.

Working memory (WM) is essential for the temporary storage and processing of information required for complex cognitive tasks and relies on neuronal theta and gamma oscillations. Given the limited capacity of WM, researchers have investigated various methods to improve it, including transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS), which modulates brain activity at specific frequencies. One particularly promising approach is theta-gamma peak-coupled-tACS (TGCp-tACS), which simulates the natural interaction between theta and gamma oscillations that occurs during cognitive control in the brain.

: There is little information on changes in the process and outcomes of intensive tobacco dependence treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic. The following characteristics were evaluated: interest in treatment, the number of face-to-face or telephone follow-ups, the duration of pharmacotherapy use, and the success rate. The aim of our study was to compare the number of patients who entered tobacco dependence treatment programmes and evaluate the one-year success rate in patients three years before and three years after the COVID-19 pandemic.
