DOPA Decarboxylase (DDC) has been proposed as a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarker with increased concentrations in Lewy body disorders (LBDs) and highest levels in patients receiving dopaminergic treatment. Here we evaluate plasma DDC, measured by proximity extension assay, and the effect of dopaminergic treatment in three independent LBD (with a focus on dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and Parkinson's disease (PD)) cohorts: an autopsy-confirmed cohort (n = 71), a large multicenter, cross-dementia cohort (n = 1498) and a longitudinal cohort with detailed treatment information (n = 66, median follow-up time[IQR] = 4[4, 4] years). Plasma DDC was not altered between different LBDs and other disease groups or controls in absence of treatment.

The histological grade is crucial for therapeutic management, and its reliable preoperative detection can significantly influence treatment approach. Lacking established risk factors, this study identifies preoperative predictors of high-grade skull base meningiomas and discusses the implications of non-invasive detection. Measurement of Λ_{b}^{0}, Λ_{c}^{+}, and Λ Decay Parameters Using Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}h^{-} Decays.

A comprehensive study of the angular distributions in the bottom-baryon decays Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}h^{-}(h=π,K), followed by Λ_{c}^{+}→Λh^{+} with Λ→pπ^{-} or Λ_{c}^{+}→pK_{S}^{0} decays, is performed using a data sample of proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9  fb^{-1} collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. The decay parameters and the associated charge-parity (CP) asymmetries are measured, with no significant CP violation observed. For the first time, the Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}h^{-} decay parameters are measured.

Unraveling the Effects of Reducing and Oxidizing Pretreatments and Humidity on the Surface Chemistry of the Ru/CeO Catalyst during Propane Oxidation.

This work investigates the surface chemistry of the Ru/CeO catalyst under varying pretreatment conditions and during the oxidation of propane, focusing on both dry and humid environments. Our results show that the Ru/CeO catalyst calcined in O at 500 °C initiates propane oxidation at 200 °C, achieves high conversion rates above 400 °C, and demonstrates almost no change in activity in the presence of water vapor across the entire studied temperature range of 200-500 °C. Prereduction of the oxidized Ru/CeO catalyst in H significantly enhances its activity, though this enhancement diminishes at higher temperatures.

How To Correct Erroneous Symmetry-Breaking in Coarse-Grained Constant-pH Simulations.

The constant-pH Monte Carlo method is a popular algorithm to study acid-base equilibria in coarse-grained simulations of charge regulating soft matter systems including weak polyelectrolytes and proteins. However, the method suffers from systematic errors in simulations with explicit ions, which lead to a symmetry-breaking between chemically equivalent implementations of the acid-base equilibrium. Here, we show that this artifact of the algorithm can be corrected a-posteriori by simply shifting the pH-scale.
