Patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) can now be treated with monoclonal antibodies aiming at clearing amyloid plaques from the brain parenchyma. Weeks after initiation of this drug therapy, patients may develop so-called amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA) on MRI. ARIA comprise vasogenic edema and leptomeningeal effusions (ARIA-E) as well as microbleeds and superficial hemosiderosis (ARIA-H).

Background: Increased coracoclavicular distance due to acute acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) instability is often described as a pseudoelevation of the clavicle due to inferior hanging of the scapula, while the distal clavicle remains in its position. The aim of this study was to analyze whether the elevation of the distal clavicle, depression of the scapula, or both are associated with vertical instability and to evaluate the impact of weighted stress radiographs on the clavicle and scapular position in acute ACJ instabilities.
Methods: The cohort consisted of 505 patients (f = 52, m = 453; mean age 46 years) which presented to our emergency department or outpatient clinic and treated in our institution from 2006 to 2019 displaying an acute ACJ injury.

Introduction: Allogeneic stem cell transplantation is used to cure hematologic malignancies or deficiencies of the hematopoietic system. It is associated with severe immunodeficiency of the host early after transplant and therefore early reactivation of latent herpesviruses such as CMV and EBV within the first 100 days are frequent. Small studies and case series indicated that application of herpes virus specific T cells can control and prevent disease in this patient population.

Objective: There is evidence of a strong association between insomnia and COVID-19, yet few studies have examined the relationship between insomnia and long COVID. This study aimed to investigate whether COVID-19 patients with pre-pandemic insomnia have a greater risk of developing long COVID and whether long COVID is in turn associated with higher incident rates of insomnia symptoms after infection.
Methods: Data were collected cross-sectionally (May-Dec 2021) as part of an international collaborative study involving participants from 16 countries.

Optimal conditioning prior to allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for children with non-malignant diseases is subject of ongoing research. This prospective, randomized, phase 2 trial compared safety and efficacy of busulfan with treosulfan based preparative regimens. Children with non-malignant diseases received fludarabine and either intravenous (IV) busulfan (4.

Purpose Of Review: HIV epidemics are increasing in many emerging economy countries, whilst the very process of 'economic emergence' is obesogenic. Annual deaths related to obesity and overweight are now four times more than for HIV globally. We describe the intersections between HIV and obesity in emerging economies, and highlight potential mitigation options, including antiobesity medications (AOMs), which are safe and effective, but inaccessibly priced.

Rabies is an ancient neuroinvasive viral (genus Lyssavirus, family Rhabdoviridae) disease affecting approximately 59,000 people worldwide. The central nervous system (CNS) is targeted, and rabies has a case fatality rate of almost 100% in humans and animals. Rabies is entirely preventable through proper vaccination, and thus, the highest incidence is typically observed in developing countries, mainly in Africa and Asia.

In the absence of randomized controlled trials comparing tisagenlecleucel vs. standard of care (SOC) in pediatric and young adult patients with relapsed or refractory acute lymphoblastic leukemia (r/r ALL), the objective was to compare the efficacy of tisagenlecleucel with historical controls from multiple disease registries using patient-level adjustment of the historical controls. The analysis is based on patient-level data of three tisagenlecleucel studies (ELIANA, ENSIGN and CCTL019B2001X) vs.

Study Objectives: Preliminary evidence suggests that the risk of Long COVID is higher among people with pre-existing medical conditions. Based on its proven adjuvant role in immunity, habitual sleep duration may alter the risk of developing Long COVID. The objective of this study was to determine whether the odds of Long COVID are higher among those with pre-existing medical conditions, and whether the strength of this association varies by habitual sleep duration.

Neural-network-based outcome predictions may enable further treatment personalization of patients with head and neck cancer. The development of neural networks can prove challenging when a limited number of cases is available. Therefore, we investigated whether multitask learning strategies, implemented through the simultaneous optimization of two distinct outcome objectives (multi-outcome) and combined with a tumor segmentation task, can lead to improved performance of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and vision transformers (ViTs).

Introduction: Patients receiving maintenance haemodialysis are at risk of catheter-related infections. Up to now, there has been no standardized surveillance tool in Germany to evaluate infection events in haemodialysis outpatients. As such, this study aimed to implement an online-based surveillance tool in outpatient dialysis facilities, and to report the first national surveillance data for haemodialysis patients in Germany from October 2019 until September 2021.

The host-microbiota co-metabolite trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) is linked to increased cardiovascular risk but how its circulating levels are regulated remains unclear. We applied "explainable" machine learning, univariate, multivariate and mediation analyses of fasting plasma TMAO concentration and a multitude of phenotypes in 1,741 adult Europeans of the MetaCardis study. Here we show that next to age, kidney function is the primary variable predicting circulating TMAO, with microbiota composition and diet playing minor, albeit significant, roles.

Germline pathogenic variants in isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) can lead to a rare neurodevelopmental disorder called metaphyseal chondromatosis with D-2-hydroxyglutaric aciduria, including severe skeletal and cerebral anomalies. To the best of our knowledge, no prenatal case of an IDH1 pathogenic variant has been reported in literature. Somatic sequence variants in IDH1/2 genes are described in distinct cancers, premalignant diseases and rare inherited metabolic disorders.
