To investigate the effect of suppressor of fused (Sufu) on epidermal and dermal cellular properties and in wound healing. Transgenic (TG) mice overexpressing human Sufu (hSufu) in the epidermis were applied to investigate the effects of Sufu on epidermal and dermal cellular properties and in wound healing. Histological staining revealed a reduction of epidermal and dermal thickness and an increase of hypodermal adipose tissue in homozygous K14-hSufu TG mice when compared with wild-type (WT) controls.

Challenges for better care based on the course of maternal body mass index, weight gain and multiple outcome in twin pregnancies: a population-based retrospective cohort study in Hessen/Germany within 15 years.

Introduction: Studies on maternal weight, gestational weight gain and associated outcomes in twin pregnancies are scarce. Therefore, we analyzed these items in a large cohort.

Methods: Data from 10,603/13,725 total twin pregnancies from the perinatal database in Hessen, Germany between 2000 and 2015 were used after exclusion of incomplete or non-plausible data sets.

Fast myocardial T mapping using cardiac motion correction.

Purpose: To improve the efficiency of native and postcontrast high-resolution cardiac T mapping by utilizing cardiac motion correction.

Methods: Common cardiac T mapping techniques only acquire data in a small part of the cardiac cycle, leading to inefficient data sampling. Here, we present an approach in which 80% of each cardiac cycle is used for T mapping by integration of cardiac motion correction.

Endoscopic submucosal dissection with a novel high viscosity injection solution (LiftUp) in an ex vivo model: a prospective randomized study.

 Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is increasingly being used in the western world. Submucosal injectates are an essential tool for the ESD procedure. In this study, we evaluated a novel copolymer injectate (LiftUp, Ovesco, Tübingen Germany) in an established ESD model (EASIE-R) in comparison to existing submucosal injectables.

Preclinical evaluation of a novel thermally sensitive co-polymer (LiftUp) for endoscopic resection.

Endoscopic resection techniques can successfully resect large lesions either in "en bloc" fashion or in "piece-meal" technique by using a submucosal injection solution. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety of a novel injectable, containing thermally sensitive co-polymer from ethylenoxide and propylenoxide (LiftUp) used as submucosal injection solution. We conducted an animal trial in the porcine model to evaluate the LiftUp gel in a preclinical setting and to study the effectiveness of mucosal lifting and the safety of the new injectable.

Rottlerin is a natural polyphenolic compound that was initially indicated as a PKCδ inhibitor. However, it was recently revealed that it may target a number of molecules and have biological effects on various cell types and is considered as a possible agent for tumor and cell proliferative diseases. Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory cutaneous disorder with undefined etiology and is characterized by abnormal cellular proliferation, angiogenesis, and inflammation.

Use of the over-the-scope-clip (OTSC) in non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding in patients with severe cardiovascular comorbidities: a retrospective study.

Introduction:  The over-the-scope-clip (OTSC) can potentially overcome limitations of standard clips and achieve more efficient and reliable hemostasis. Data on OTSC use for non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (NVUGIB) in patients with cardiovascular comorbidities are currently limited.

Patients And Methods:  We prospectively collected and retrospectively analyzed our database from February 2009 to September 2015 from all patients who underwent emergency endoscopy for high-risk NVUGIB in 2 academic centers and were treated with OTSC as first-line (n = 81) or second-line therapy (n = 19).

Objectives: Iloprost has the potential to protect the liver transplant graft before and during cold ischemia. We studied iloprost administration during organ procurement and reperfusion in an extracorporeal pig liver perfusion model.

Materials And Methods: German Landrace pigs (n = 7/group; 22-26 kg each) were used as donors.

The aim of the present study was to identify and validate the biological significance of new genes/proteins involved in the development of allergic airway disease in a murine asthma model. Gene microarrays were used to identify genes with at least a two-fold increase in gene expression in lungs of two separate mouse strains with high and low allergic susceptibility. Validation of mRNA data was obtained by western blotting and immunohistochemistry, followed by functional analysis of one of the identified genes in mice with targeted disruption of specific gene expression.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to assess the current level of pregnancy-related fear and state anxiety in pregnant women who experienced prior miscarriages and to explore the impact of higher levels of anxiety during the first trimester on the following course and outcome of the pregnancy.

Study Design: One hundred forty-three pregnant women who had experienced prior miscarriage (sporadic or recurrent) were measured during each trimester and postpartum. Three independent control groups consisting of pregnant women without a history of miscarriage were recruited.

Oral direct thrombin inhibitors (ODTIs) showed a better pharmacological activity and might be an alternative in the treatment of venous thromboembolism. The Thrombin Inhibition in Venous Thromboembolism (THRIVE) program performed some studies developing the ODTI ximelagatran for this indication, and it is presented in the overview.

In addition to the ARF/p53 pathway, the DNA damage response (DDR) has been recognized as another oncogene-provoked anticancer barrier in early human tumorigenesis leading to apoptosis or cellular senescence. DDR mutations may promote tumor formation, but their impact on treatment outcome remains unclear. In this study, we generated ataxia telangiectasia mutated (Atm)-proficient and -deficient B-cell lymphomas in Emu-myc transgenic mice to examine the role of DDR defects in lymphomagenesis and treatment sensitivity.

Methods: Safety data for adalimumab treated patients from randomised controlled trials, open label extensions, and two phase IIIb open label trials were analysed. In addition, postmarketing spontaneous reports of adverse events in the United States were collected following Food and Drug Administration approval of adalimumab on 31 December 2002.

Background: Nerve growth factor (NGF) is elevated in allergic diseases such as bronchial asthma and can lead to an induction of substance P (SP) and related neuropeptides in guinea-pigs large-diameter, neurofilament-positive airway neurons.

Objective: In the present study, the effect of NGF on tyrosine kinase receptor trkA and the capsaicin receptor TRPV1 expression in airway-specific vagal sensory neurons located in the jugular-nodose ganglia complex (JNC) of mice was investigated.

Methods: Using retrograde neuronal tracing in combination with double-labelling immunohistochemistry, SP, trkA- and TRPV1-receptor expression was examined in airway-specific sensory neurons of BALB/c mice before and after NGF treatment.
