Background And Objective: The European Association of Urology (EAU) Panel on Renal Transplantation released an updated version of the renal transplantation (RT) guidelines. This report aims to present the 2024 EAU guidelines on RT.

Methods: A broad and comprehensive scoping exercise covering all areas of RT guidelines published between May 31, 2020 and April 1, 2023 was performed.

Background: The visual performance and the optical quality of a segmental refractive extended depth-of-focus (EDoF) intraocular lens (IOL) were evaluated in a prospective, single-arm, single-center study.

Methods: A total of 20 patients (40 eyes) after bilateral implantation of the refractive segmental EDoF Acunex Vario AN6V were included. The systematic review part across multiple databases was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42023418076), and individual study data were extracted for statistical re-analysis.

This study was conducted to investigate the impact of the economic crisis on the burden of HBV and HCV disease.

Methods: Global Burden of Diseases 2019 data were used to analyse the rates of epidemiological metrics of HBV and HCV acute and chronic infections in SWE and WE.

Management and classification of the fracture of lateral process of talus: An overview and literature update.

Fracture of the lateral process of the talus (FLPT) is uncommon in clinical practice and can be easily missed or misdiagnosed. In recent years, as researchers from all over the world have further deepened their research on FLPT, there has been a breakthrough in the classification, and the methods and principles of clinical management have changed accordingly; however, there is still no standardized guideline for the diagnosis and management of FLPT, and there have been few relevant literature review articles related to this kind of fracture in the past at least 5 years. In this article, we review the clinical classification, classification-based therapeutic recommendations, and prognosis of FLPT, with the aim of providing a reference for the clinical diagnosis and management of this infrequent fracture.

Maisonneuve fracture treated with short leg cast: A case report with 41-month follow-up.

Rationale: Maisonneuve fracture is a specific type of severe ankle injury. To our current knowledge, once a Maisonneuve fracture is diagnosed, the surgery is always recommended for fear of sequelae from inaccurate joint reconstruction. However, in this case, we treated a Maisonneuve fracture with a short leg cast, and the 41-month follow-up showed a favorable outcome with no post-traumatic osteoarthritis, chronic pain, and instability.

Acral melanoma of the heel mimicking a pressure sore.

Background: The clinical appearance of acral melanoma is diverse and can cause diagnostic difficulties in individual cases.

Case Description: We present a clinical case of an 83-year-old patient with a melanoma in the heel area that was initially interpreted as a pressure ulcer, resulting in delayed and more complicated treatment.

Conclusions: Melanomas should be included in the differential diagnosis even in "typical" pressure ulcer areas.

The incidence of ROP varies widely across countries, with rates as high as 30% in some regions. This study investigated the incidence, risk factors, treatment, and mortality of ROP patients in Germany.

Aim: Healthcare professionals are at increased risk of burnout, primarily due to workplace-related stressors. The COVID-19 pandemic has further increased this risk. Different interventions exist with varying degrees of effectiveness; little is reported on the content and implementation of such programs.

Our environment is made of a myriad of stimuli present in combinations often patterned in predictable ways. For example, there is a strong association between where we are and the sounds we hear. Like many environmental patterns, sound-context associations are learned implicitly, in an unsupervised manner, and are highly informative and predictive of normality.

Prediagnostic selenium status, selenoprotein gene variants and association with breast cancer risk in a European cohort study.

Selenium (Se) may help prevent breast cancer (BC) development. Owing to limited observational evidence, we investigated whether prediagnostic Se status and/or variants in the selenoprotein genes are associated with BC risk in a large European cohort. Se status was assessed by plasma measures of Se and its major circulating proteins, selenoprotein P (SELENOP) and glutathione peroxidase 3 (GPX3), in matched BC case-control pairs (2208 for SELENOP; 1785 for GPX3 and Se) nested within the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC).
