Osteoblasts regulate bone formation and remodeling, and are main target cells of oxidative stress in the progression of osteonecrosis. The stem cell factor (SCF)-c-Kit pathway plays important roles in the proliferation, differentiation and survival in a range of cell types, but little is known about its functions in osteoblasts. In this study, we found that c-Kit is functionally expressed in both osteoblastic-like MC3T3-E1 cells and primary murine osteoblasts.

Background: Given that the observed prevalence and time course of critical illness-related corticosteroid insufficiency (CIRCI) remain inconsistent in trauma patients, the present study was designed to investigate the prevalence, time course, and effect of CIRCI on the outcome of critically ill patients with multiple injuries.
Methods: In this multicenter, prospective cohort study, patients with multiple injuries in seven intensive care units in China were enrolled. Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) stimulation tests were performed by administering intravenously 250 μg of synthetic ACTH on Days 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 after traumatic injury.

The aim of this study is to determine the effects of E2 on metabolic syndrome and the molecular mechanisms involving S100A16. Ovariectomized (OVX) rat models and mouse embryonic fibroblasts cell models were used. E2 loss in OVX rats induced body weight gain and central abdominal fat accumulation, which were ameliorated by E2 treatment under chow and high-fat diet (HFD) conditions.
