Langmuir

December 2021

Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Advanced Catalytic Materials and Technology, School of Petrochemical Engineering, Changzhou University, Changzhou 213164, China.

Au-Ag nanoparticles (Au-Ag NPs) with a core-shell structure are prepared and used for ultrasensitive electrochemical impedance (EI) discrimination of the isomers of tryptophan (Trp). As revealed by circular dichroism, rotary polarization caused by the Au-Ag NPs is consistent with D-Trp but opposite to L-Trp, and thus, the Au-Ag NPs can selectively combine with D-Trp through preferential interactions. Compared with Au-Ag NPs, the composites of D-Trp and Au-Ag NPs (Au-Ag NPs/D-Trp) display significantly increased charge transfer resistance (); differently, the of Au-Ag NPs/L-Trp remains almost unchanged because the Au-Ag NPs exhibit poor affinity toward L-Trp.

October 2021

Research Center of Resources and Environment, School of Chemical Engineering and Materials, Changzhou Institute of Technology, Changzhou 213032, China.

Herein, we report an efficient electrochemical method for the synthesis of -alkylated sulfoximines by electrochemical oxidative C(sp)-H/N-H coupling of sulfoximines and diarylmethanes. In addition, we used the same conditions for electrochemical dehydrogenative amination of diarylmethanes with benzophenone imine as an aminating agent. The reactions showed good functional group tolerance and afforded the corresponding products in moderate to good yields without the use of a stoichiometric oxidant, a metal catalyst, or an activating agent.

Peak compression is a unique feature of gradient elution and is non-existent in isocratic elution. Since the classical plate height equation, which is also called as van Deemter equation, is derived by assuming isocratic elution, it cannot be used to account for the effects of peak compression. As opposed to the case of isocratic elution, the retention factor () varies with the mobile phase composition () under gradient elution, thereby complicating mathematical analysis.

Poly(p-aminobenzene sulfonic acid) (pABSA) was electrodeposited onto the surface of a glassy carbon electrode (GCE), which was then used for the preconcentration of l-tryptophan (l-Trp) due to the electrostatic and π-π interactions between pABSA and l-Trp. Polypyrrole (PPy) was electrodeposited onto the surface of the l-Trp enriched pABSA, and then the l-Trp templates were removed, resulting in molecularly imprinted PPy/pABSA. To avoid the interference from the oxidation peak of PPy on the following electrochemical chiral recognition of Trp isomers, PPy was overoxidized by cyclic voltammetry (CV).

Determination of PPi levels in urine represents a measurable factor for diagnostic, treatment, and monitoring of urolithiasis. Owing to the quenching ability of Cu on fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) and strong binding affinity between Cu and PPi, we develop a new off-on assay for PPi detection using newly BPHA CDs (BPHA: N,N-bis(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)hexan-1-amine). The fluorescence intensity of BPHA CDs was significantly quenched by Cu ("off") through forming BPHA CDs/Cu complexes and the fluorescence intensity of BPHA CDs /Cu system was completely resumed by PPi ("on") owing to the release of free Cu.

Targeting phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase gamma (PI3Kγ): Discovery and development of its selective inhibitors.

Med Res Rev

May 2021

Hangzhou Institute of Innovative Medicine, College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China.

Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase gamma (PI3Kγ) has been regarded as a promising drug target for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, leukemia, lymphoma, and inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. However, the high level of structural conservation among the members of the PI3K family and the diverse physiological roles of Class I PI3K isoforms (α, β, δ, and γ) highlight the importance of isoform selectivity in the development of PI3Kγ inhibitors. In this review, we provide an overview of the structural features of PI3Kγ that influence γ-isoform selectivity and discuss the structure-selectivity-activity relationship of existing clinical PI3Kγ inhibitors.

Mouthpart homologies and life habits of Mesozoic long-proboscid scorpionflies.

Sci Adv

March 2020

Division of Entomology, Natural History Museum, 1501 Crestline Drive, Suite 140, University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS 66045, USA.

Mesozoic long-proboscid scorpionflies (Mesopsychoidea) provide important clues to ancient plant-pollinator interactions. Among them, the family Aneuretopsychidae is especially important because its mouthparts are vital to deciphering the early evolution of Mesopsychoidea and putatively the origin of fleas (Siphonaptera). However, the identification of mouthpart homologs among Aneuretopsychidae remains controversial because of the lack of three-dimensional anatomical data.

Under gradient elution the solute will firstly migrate in initial mobile phase due to dwelling time (t) of the system. The pre-elution of solute in initial mobile phase can be accounted for by a dimensionless value of t/(tk), where t and k denote dead time and retention factor in initial mobile phase, respectively. The influence of t/(tk) on retention time (t) and peak compression factor (G) are discussed under linear gradient elution.

September 2019

Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Materials Cycling and Pollution Control, School of Geography Sciences, Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing, China

Ammonium concentrations and temperature drive the activities of ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA) and ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB), but their effects on these microbes in eutrophic freshwater sediments are unclear. In this study, surface sediments collected from areas of Taihu Lake (China) with different degrees of eutrophication were incubated under three levels of nitrogen input and temperature, and the autotrophic growth of ammonia oxidizers was assessed using C-labeled DNA-based stable-isotope probing (SIP), while communities were characterized using MiSeq sequencing and phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA genes. Nitrification rates in sediment microcosms were positively correlated with nitrogen inputs, but there was no marked association with temperature.
