Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Huanglian Jiedu Decoction (HLJDD) is an ancient formula of traditional Chinese medicine that is commonly utilized in a range of disorders, and it has been shown to have pharmacological effects on glucose and lipid metabolism. However, the specific mechanism of HLJDD for the treatment of obesity and related metabolic disorders remains to be further investigated.
Aim Of The Study: It has been thought that encouraging adipose thermogenesis to raise the body's energy expenditure is a useful tactic for improving metabolic abnormalities and losing weight.

Background: Bortezomib (BTZ) is a commonly used antitumor drug, but its peripheral neuropathy side effect poses a limitation on its dosage. Evodiamine (EVO) exhibits various biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer effects. The purpose of this investigation is to confirm the impact of EVO on BTZ-induced peripheral neurotoxicity.

Background: Hypertension is a well-recognized risk factor for cardiovascular, which is also a critical factor in causing myocardial fibrosis (MF).
Objective: The study aimed to explore the effect of Atractylenolide II (ATL-II) on MF and oxidative stress in spontaneous hypertension rats (SHR).
Methods: The body weight of rats after injection of ATL-II was quantitatively analyzed.

Hormone receptor positive (HR-positive) breast cancer (BC) is the most common subtype of breast cancer. Despite adjuvant endocrine therapy and chemotherapy-based treatment, the therapeutic response is often not satisfactory in HR-positive BC patients. Therefore, elucidating the mechanisms that regulate the progression of HR-positive BC is urgently required to identify new therapeutic targets.

The latest guideline about ulcerative colitis (UC) clinical practice stresses that mucosal healing, rather than anti-inflammation, is the main target in UC clinical management. Current mucosal dysfunction mainly closely relates to the endoscopic intestinal wall (mechanical barrier) injury with the imbalance between intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) regeneration and death, as well as tight junction (TJ) dysfunction. It is suggested that biological barrier (gut microbiota), chemical barrier (mucus protein layer, MUC) and immune barrier (immune cells) all take part in the imbalance, leading to mechanical barrier injury.

Aims/introduction: Renal function impairment related to type 2 diabetes (T2DM) presents serious threat to public health. Previous studies suggest that vascular endothelial growth factor-B (VEGF-B) might contribute to renal injury. Therefore, this study investigated the association of serum VEGF-B level with the risk of renal function impairment in T2DM patients.

Breast cancer (BC) ranks as the highest incidence among cancer types in women all over the world. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is known as a highly aggressive subtype of BC due to high rate of recurrence and metastasis, poor prognosis and lacking of effective targeted therapies. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of short endogenous non-coding RNA that mostly functioning to silence the target mRNAs.

This research is aimed at studying the effect of Angelica sinensis polysaccharide (ASP) extracted from the Lixinshui prescription on cardiac disease induced by hypertension in rats. Rat models of cardiovascular disease were established, and the associated factors were measured. The data showed that ASP treatment increased the ejection fraction and short axis shortening rate, while decreasing the LV end-diastolic diameter, LV end-systolic diameter, LV end-diastolic volume, and LV end-systolic volume in HHD rats.

Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the influence of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)/prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) on fracture healing by activating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.
Materials And Methods: In this study, 36 adult Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats raised in our laboratory were selected as research objects. The rats were subjected to fracture surgery on the middle part of the right femoral shaft.

The present study aimed to examine the roles and mechanisms of metformin in the stemness and epithelial‑mesenchymal transition (EMT) of colorectal cancer cells. The formation of spheroid cells, and the results of reverse transcription‑quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blot analyses showed that metformin suppressed the ability to form spheroid cells and the expression of stemness markers in HCT116 colorectal cancer cells. Additionally, metformin attenuated the EMT process, characterized by a decrease of mesenchymal marker Vimentin and an increase in the expression of an epithelial marker.
