Nickel stands as one of the prevalent contact allergens, but acquired nail hypertrophy presenting as ACD due to nickel exposure is infrequent. Here we report a case of acquired nail hypertrophy stemming from ACD due to nickel, displaying an uneven coloration, along with nail grooves, deck distortion damage, small surface pits and ecchymosis beneath the damaged deck. The patient limited nickel contact and recovered after 11 months of follow-up.

School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Aliyun School of Big Data, School of Software, Changzhou University, Changzhou, 213164, China.

Cell-Penetrating Peptides (CPPs) are a crucial carrier for drug delivery. Since the process of synthesizing new CPPs in the laboratory is both time- and resource-consuming, computational methods to predict potential CPPs can be used to find CPPs to enhance the development of CPPs in therapy. In this study, EnDM-CPP is proposed, which combines machine learning algorithms (SVM and CatBoost) with convolutional neural networks (CNN and TextCNN).

Background And Aims: Nasogastric tube decompression (NGTD) has been a standard practice following endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for early gastric cancers (EGCs) in clinical settings for several years. Nevertheless, there remains a dearth of research assessing the efficacy of NGTD in preventing delayed bleeding after ESD.

Methods: From January 2021 to December 2022, eligible patients who underwent gastric ESD for EGCs were categorized into two groups: NGTD group and no NGTD group.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) triggered by Hepatitis B virus (HBV) remains a significant clinical challenge, necessitating novel therapeutic interventions. Copper ionophores, recognized for introducing an innovative type of programmed cell death termed cuproptosis, present promising potentials for cancer therapy. Nevertheless, The role of cuproptosis-related lncRNAs (CRLRs) in HBV-HCC has not been clearly elucidated.

It has been claimed that microRNA 503-5p (miR-503-5p) is the key to the future diagnosis and treatment of cardiac hemangioma (CH), but the relationship between the two has not been fully validated. In this study, we analyzed the effect of miR-503-5p targeting type IA bone morphogenetic protein receptor (BMPR1A) on CH to inform future diagnosis and treatment of CH. First, miR-503-5p and BMPR1A abnormal expression sequences (vectors) were transfected into human hemangioma-derived endothelial cells (HemECs) and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) to observe alterations in cell biological behavior, adhesion, and epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT).

Background: Depression is common in stroke survivors and affects their recovery and quality of life (QoL). Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) can improve post-stroke outcomes but the impact on early-onset post-stroke depression (PSD) is unclear. This was evaluated by comparing depression symptoms between patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) with vs.

Objective: This study aims to observe the clinical efficacy of single-incision thoracoscopic bullectomy combined with C-shaped electrocautery pleurodesis compared to traditional iodine chemical pleurodesis in the treatment of patients with spontaneous pneumothorax.

Methods: A total of 128 patients with spontaneous pneumothorax who underwent surgical treatment at our institution from January 2021 to December 2022 were selected. Patients were categorized into the study group ( = 65) and the control group ( = 63) based on the surgical method used.

  • Low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) is the standard for preventing blood clots after joint surgery, but its optimal dosing is not well established.
  • This study tested three enoxaparin dosing regimens in patients post-hip or knee replacement, focusing on thromboembolic events and safety indicators like bleeding.
  • Results showed similar thromboembolic rates across all groups, with the 40 mg dose given 12 hours after surgery having the least bruising and drainage, indicating it may be the safest option.

  • The study aims to understand how serum exosomes contribute to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), focusing on the role of lncRNA TBX2-AS1 in modifying macrophage behavior.
  • Researchers used bioinformatics and various lab techniques to analyze gene expression and assess the impact of TBX2-AS1 on macrophage polarization in COPD.
  • Findings reveal that TBX2-AS1 from COPD serum promotes harmful M1 macrophage polarization while inhibiting protective M2 polarization, highlighting its potential as a target for COPD diagnosis and treatment strategies.

Background: To analyze the risk factors of cervical lymph node metastasis (LNM) of thyroid papillary carcinoma (PTC) and construct the prediction model.

Methods: Clinical data of 1105 patients with pathologically confirmed PTC in our hospital from February 2019 to May 2024 were retrospectively analyzed, and randomly divided into a training set and validation set according to the proportion of 7:3. With cervical central LNM (CLNM) and lateral LNM (LLNM) as outcome variables respectively, ultrasound characteristics were analyzed and C-TIRADS scores were performed Combined with the general situation of the patient, preoperative serum thyroglobulin (Tg) level, BRAFV600E (hereinafter referred to as BRAF) gene mutation and other characteristics of the patient, analysis was conducted to determine the independent risk factors for cervical CLNM and LLNM of PTC, and establish Nomogram prediction models.

Background: Obesity accelerates the development of lumbar disease and increase the risk during surgery. Unilateral biportal endoscopic discectomy (UBE) is a newly developed minimally invasive technique, which refers to the spinal surgery under unilateral double-channel endoscopic surgery. Therefore, the purpose of this study is whether UBE decompression alone can bring good clinical results to young obese patients with lumbar degenerative diseases.
