XBP1 Facilitating NF-κB-p65 Nuclear Translocation Promotes Macrophage-Originated Sterile Inflammation Via Regulating MT2 Transcription in the Ischemia/Reperfusion Liver.

Cell Mol Gastroenterol Hepatol

November 2024

Hepatobiliary Center of The First Affiliated Hospital, Nanjing Medical University, Research Unit of Liver Transplantation and Transplant Immunology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Nanjing, China. Electronic address:

Background & Aims: XBP1, most conserved transcription factor of endoplasmic reticulum stress, plays important roles in physiological and pathologic settings and has profound effects on disease progression and prognosis, so it is necessary to investigate XBP1 in macrophage-originated sterile inflammation during liver ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI). Macrophage XBP1 expression and liver injury are analyzed in patients undergoing ischemia-related hepatectomy.

Methods: A myeloid-specific male XBP1-knockout (XBP1) strain is created for function and mechanism of XBP1 on macrophage-derived sterile inflammation in murine liver IRI with in vitro parallel research.

As a rare obstetric disease, fetomaternal hemorrhage (FMH) often causes severe fetal anemia, edema and even death, easily to be confused with severe neonatal asphyxia. Currently, there are several ways to detect or predict FMH, however, most of them are flawed and time-consuming, as well as unsuitable for rapid diagnosis and timely intervention of FMH. To explore the values of umbilical artery blood gas analysis in the rapid diagnosis of FMH, providing basis for rapid guidance of newborn rescue.

Background: Disulfidptosis is an emerging form of cellular death resulting from the binding of intracellular disulfide bonds to actin cytoskeleton proteins. This study aimed to investigate the expression and prognostic significance of hub disulfidptosis-related lncRNAs (DRLRs) in R0 resected hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) as well as their impact on the malignant behaviour of HCC cells.

Methods: A robust signature for R0 resected HCC was constructed using least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) and multivariate Cox regression and was validated in an independent internal validation cohort to predict the prognosis of R0 HCC patients.

The Reward Positivity Mediates the Association Between Adverse Childhood Experiences and Anhedonia in Young Adults With Drug-Naïve Major Depressive Disorder.

Biol Psychiatry Cogn Neurosci Neuroimaging

August 2024

Department of Psychiatry, the Affiliated Brain Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, China; Nanjing Brain Hospital, Clinical Teaching Hospital of Medical School, Nanjing University, Nanjing, China. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • Major depressive disorder (MDD) linked with adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) shows increased levels of anhedonia (inability to feel pleasure).
  • A study involving 86 MDD patients (some with many ACEs, others with few) assessed their reward sensitivity using the Iowa gambling task, revealing that those with more ACEs had worse anhedonia and decision-making abilities.
  • The study found that the reduction in reward positivity (ΔRewP) helped explain how ACEs contribute to anhedonia in MDD, highlighting the impact of early adverse experiences on the brain's reward system.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fourth leading cause of cancer death worldwide and its prognosis is highly heterogeneous, being related not only to underlying chronic liver disease but also to the severity of cancer cachexia. Nutritional factors play a crucial role in influencing the prognosis of HCC. Despite musculoskeletal imbalance being consistently reported as a predictor of perioperative mortality in patients with HCC, this condition is often overlooked in clinical management.

Part of the tumor localization methods in radiotherapy have poor real-time performance and may generate additional radiation. We propose a multimodal point cloud-based method for tumor localization in robotic ultrasound-guided radiotherapy, which only irradiates computed tomography (CT) during radiotherapy planning to avoid additional radiation. The tumor position was determined using the CT point cloud, and the red green blue depth (RGBD) point cloud was used to determine body surface scanning location corresponding to the tumor location.
