EnDM-CPP: A Multi-view Explainable Framework Based on Deep Learning and Machine Learning for Identifying Cell-Penetrating Peptides with Transformers and Analyzing Sequence Information.

Interdiscip Sci

December 2024

School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Aliyun School of Big Data, School of Software, Changzhou University, Changzhou, 213164, China.

Cell-Penetrating Peptides (CPPs) are a crucial carrier for drug delivery. Since the process of synthesizing new CPPs in the laboratory is both time- and resource-consuming, computational methods to predict potential CPPs can be used to find CPPs to enhance the development of CPPs in therapy. In this study, EnDM-CPP is proposed, which combines machine learning algorithms (SVM and CatBoost) with convolutional neural networks (CNN and TextCNN).

Simple Preparation and Bone Regeneration Effects of Poly(vinyl alcohol)-Resveratrol Self-Cross-Linked Hydrogels.

ACS Omega

December 2024

Department of Radiotherapy Oncology, Changzhou No.2 People's Hospital, Nanjing Medical University, Changzhou 213003, China.

Hydrogels have broad application prospects in bone repair. Pure poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogels have limited applications because of their low hardness and poor mechanical properties. This study found that resveratrol (Res) and PVA self-assembled and cross-linked through the formation of strong hydrogen bonds after freeze-thawing, forming an easily available PVA-Res supramolecular hydrogel through a green process.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) triggered by Hepatitis B virus (HBV) remains a significant clinical challenge, necessitating novel therapeutic interventions. Copper ionophores, recognized for introducing an innovative type of programmed cell death termed cuproptosis, present promising potentials for cancer therapy. Nevertheless, The role of cuproptosis-related lncRNAs (CRLRs) in HBV-HCC has not been clearly elucidated.

It has been claimed that microRNA 503-5p (miR-503-5p) is the key to the future diagnosis and treatment of cardiac hemangioma (CH), but the relationship between the two has not been fully validated. In this study, we analyzed the effect of miR-503-5p targeting type IA bone morphogenetic protein receptor (BMPR1A) on CH to inform future diagnosis and treatment of CH. First, miR-503-5p and BMPR1A abnormal expression sequences (vectors) were transfected into human hemangioma-derived endothelial cells (HemECs) and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) to observe alterations in cell biological behavior, adhesion, and epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT).

Aims: Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP)-producing colorectal adenocarcinoma (AFPCRA) is uncommon, with obscure clinicopathological features and prognosis.

Methods And Results: In this retrospective comparison study on surgically resected colorectal adenocarcinomas (CRA, n = 2389), we investigated and compared clinicopathological and prognostic features between AFPCRA cases with elevated pre-operative serum AFP levels, as the AFPCRA study group (n = 49, 2.1%), and the exact sex-, age- and stage-matched CRA cases as the control group at a 1:2 ratio during the study period from 2011 to 2021.

The CD47-SIRPα signaling has been acknowledged as a significant immune checkpoint and CD47 blocking has been proved as a potential therapeutic strategy for the treatment of solid tumor. However, the potential application of CAR-T cells secreted antibody fragment simultaneously in solid tumor is rarely explored. In this study, we searched bioinformatic databases and investigated the characteristics of CD47 in solid tumors.

Background: Depression is common in stroke survivors and affects their recovery and quality of life (QoL). Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) can improve post-stroke outcomes but the impact on early-onset post-stroke depression (PSD) is unclear. This was evaluated by comparing depression symptoms between patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) with vs.

J Vasc Surg Venous Lymphat Disord

November 2024

Department of Interventional and Vascular Surgery, Changzhou No. 2 People's Hospital, Changzhou, China. Electronic address:

Objective: Intracardiopulmonary migration of an inferior vena cava (IVC) filter is an uncommon but potentially life-threatening complication. A previous systematic review including data through 2008 found that the most common cause for migration was operator error and that open thoracotomy was the best first option for management. The aim of this study was to assess the clinical presentation and causes of intracardiopulmonary filter migration, as well as the most commonly used management strategies over the past 15 years.

Expression of HECTD2 predicts peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer and reconstructs immune microenvironment.

Cancer Cell Int

November 2024

National Cancer Center/National Clinical Research Center for Cancer/Cancer Hospital & Shenzhen Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Shenzhen, 518116, China.

Peritoneal metastasis (PM) is a common metastasis site and death cause of gastric cancer, which is a complex biological process, but there is currently a lack of effective prediction and treatment targets. In this study, we first analyzed the differential gene expression of gastric cancer patients with or without peritoneal metastasis, and identified the HECT domain E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 2 (HECTD2) as the core gene of PM in gastric cancer. The current study shows that the role of HECTD2 in tumor is contradictory.
