The pathologic mechanism of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is related to increased autophagy of granulosa cells. Both berberine and metformin have been shown to improve PCOS, but whether the combination of berberine and metformin can better improve PCOS by inhibiting autophagy remains unclear. PCOS models were constructed by injecting dehydroepiandrosterone into rats, and berberine, metformin or berberine combined with metformin was administered to rats after modeling.

Inflammatory damage in ovarian granulosa cells (GCs) is a key mechanism in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), cytoplasmic polyadenylation element binding protein-1 (CPEB1) is important in inflammatory regulation, however, its role in PCOS is unclear. We aim to research the mechanism of CPEB1 in ovarian GCs in PCOS using dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)-induced PCOS rat models and testosterone-incubated GC models. The pathophysiology in PCOS rats was analyzed.

Background: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disease in women of childbearing age which is often associated with abnormal proliferation or apoptosis of granulosa cells (GCs). Studies proved that long non-coding RNA SNHG12 (lncRNA SNHG12) is significantly increased in ovarian cancer and cervical cancer patients and cells. The inhibition of lncRNA SNHG12 restrains the proliferation, migration, and invasion in tumor cells.

Dynamic m A profiles reveal the role of YTHDC2-TLR2 signaling axis in Talaromyces marneffei infection.

J Med Virol

February 2024

Life Sciences Institute & Guangxi Collaborative Innovation Centre of Regenerative Medicine and Medical BioResource Development and Application, Guangxi Medical University, Nanning, Guangxi, China.

Talaromyces marneffei (TM) immune evasion is an important factor leading to the high mortality rate of Penicilliosis marneffei. N -methyladenosine (m A) plays important roles in host immune response to various pathogen infections, yet its role in TM and HIV/TM coinfection remains largely unexplored. Here we reported genome-wide transcriptional m A profiles of TM mono-infection and HIV/TM coinfection.

Objective: Premature ovarian failure (POF), also known as primary ovarian insufficiency, is a major cause of infertility in female worldwide. Excessive apoptosis and impaired autophagy in ovarian granulosa cells are the main pathological mechanisms of POF. The total flavonoids from (TFSC) are often used in the treatment of gynecological endocrine disorders.

Objective: GuizhiFulingWan (GFW) has been reported to be effective against polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) by possessing oxidative stress and inflammation which related to PI3K/AKT/NF-κB, Nrf2/HO-1 pathway. This study aims to probe the effects and mechanisms of GFW combined with rosiglitazone on PCOS PI3K/AKT/NF-κB and Nrf2/HO-1 pathways.

Methods: A rat PCOS model established by dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) injection.

Backgrounds: The incidence and characteristics of postoperative dysesthesia (POD) have not been reported for posterior vertebral column resection (PVCR) in the treatment of severe spinal kyphoscoliosis.

Objective: The objective of the study is to investigate the incidence and characteristics of POD in PVCR without anterior support applied in Yang's type A severe spinal kyphoscoliosis.

Material And Methods: From August 2010 to December 2019, 167 patients diagnosed with Yang's type A severe spinal kyphoscoliosis who underwent PVCR without anterior support applied were retrospectively reviewed.

Introduction: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrinopathy in women. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been proven to play a crucial role in balancing the proliferation and apoptosis of granulosa cells (GCs) in PCOS.

Material And Methods: The miRNA of PCOS was screened by bioinformatics analysis, and microRNA 646 (miR-646) was found to be involved in insulin-related pathways by enrichment analysis.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine and metabolic disorder. Sitagliptin (Sit) and rosiglitazone (Ros) are widely used to treat PCOS, but the mechanism is unclear. This study explored the mechanism that Sit and Ros inhibited autophagy and inflammation in PCOS.

Background: Dexamethasone is widely used in the prevention of postoperative complications in oral surgery and strengthening the analgesic effect after anesthesia, but the efficacy is controversial, and the relationship between postoperative complications and pain is still unclear. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the analgesic effect of dexamethasone in the treatment of jaw cyst and to explore the relationship between postoperative complications and pain.

Methods: We conducted a prospective, randomized, double-blind clinical trial.

Introduction: This study was conducted to investigate the underlying associations between urine macrophages polarization and renal function recovery after nephron-sparing surgery (NSS) in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and to explore the potential application values of urine macrophages polarization in predicting the severity of renal ischemia/reperfusion injury (RIRI).

Methods: Sixty-two patients with unilateral RCC who underwent NSS in our departments were prospectively recorded and followed up for long-term renal function to assess the onset of acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Urine samples of patients were collected 72 h after surgery for analyzing pro-inflammatory (classically activated/M1) and pro-reparative (alternatively activated/M2) macrophages polarization by flow cytometry.

Preoperative Computed Tomography in Guiding the Length of Cannulated Screws in Medial Malleolar Fractures.

J Foot Ankle Surg

April 2022

Department of Orthopedics, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Orthopedic Implant, Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China. Electronic address:

Excessive lengths of partially threaded cannulated screws in medial malleolus fractures are often related to failure of fixation. This study aimed to analyze the distribution and density of cancellous bone in the medial malleolus among healthy individuals and provide a theoretical basis for determining the lengths of cannulated screws based on preoperative computed tomography (CT) to achieve stable fixation of medial malleolus fractures. Between January 2012 and December 2016, 100 patients (without ankle fractures) who underwent computed tomography of the distal tibia were included.

Increasing evidence indicates that circular RNAs (CircRNAs) have an important role in human diseases, including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Recently, circ_0043533, a novel circRNA, was proposed to be involved in the progression of PCOS. However, its role in PCOS has not been explored.
