Nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) activation could efficiently protect myocardial cells from oxygen glucose deprivation/re-oxygenation (OGDR). An ultra-large structure-based virtual screening has discovered iKeap1 as a novel, direct and potent Keap1 inhibitor. Here we found that iKeap1 efficiently activated Nrf2 signaling in H9c2 myocardial cells and primary murine myocardiocytes.

Grape Seed Proanthocyanidin Extract Moderated Retinal Pigment Epithelium Cellular Senescence Through NAMPT/SIRT1/NLRP3 Pathway.

J Inflamm Res

July 2021

Department of Ophthalmology, Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital, Tongji University, Shanghai, People's Republic of China.

Background: Retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cellular senescence is an important process in degenerative retinal disorders. Grape seed proanthocyanidin extract (GSPE) alleviates senescence-related degenerative disorders; however, the potential effects of GSPE intake on RPE cellular senescence through regulating NAMPT/SIRT1/NLRP3 pathway remain unclear.

Methods: The effects of GSPE on NAMPT expression and NAD+ contents were detected with Western blot and assay kit in both in-vivo and in-vitro AMD models.

Exp Eye Res

September 2021

Department of Ophthalmology, Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital, Tongji University, Shanghai, China; Mois Biotech Company, Shanghai, China. Electronic address:

Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is the second most common retinal vascular disorders and causes visual damage in a large population. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) formation (NETosis) is an important cause of vascular diseases, however, the association between NETs related biomarkers and RVO development remained unclear. In this pilot study, a total of 77 RVO cases and 48 controls were included between Jan 2020 and July 2020.

A Nomogram to Predict Symptomatic Intracranial Hemorrhage After Intravenous Thrombolysis in Chinese Patients.

Neuropsychiatr Dis Treat

July 2021

Department of Neurology, Jinling Hospital, The First School of Clinical Medicine, Southern Medical University, Nanjing, Jiangsu, 210002, People's Republic of China.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to create a predictive nomogram for assessing the risk of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) in Chinese patients who receive intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) for acute ischemic stroke.
  • Researchers analyzed data from 1200 patients, identifying key factors like atrial fibrillation, glucose levels, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio, and NIHSS scores as independent predictors of sICH.
  • The resulting nomogram showed good accuracy with an AUC-ROC value of 0.788, indicating it is a useful tool for evaluating sICH risk in this patient population.*

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate whether treatment with minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (Mis-TLIF) causes patients suffering from lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) to experience less anxiety and better clinical efficacy than open transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF).

Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, we analyzed 86 patients, including 46 male patients and 41 female patients, who suffered from single-segmental lumbar spinal stenosis in our department between January 2016 and January 2018. They were divided into two groups: a control group (n = 46), for patients who underwent open TLIF surgery, and an experimental group (n = 40), for patients who underwent Mis-TLIF surgery.

Aims: Chronic inflammation of autoimmune diseases, including type 1 diabetes (T1D), is mainly mediated by memory T(Tm) cells, predominantly effector memory T (Tem) cells. The roles of the programmed death-1 (PD-1) receptor on lymphocytes have been well studied in tumor and other infection models. However, little is known about the relationship between the expression of PD-1 on CD8 Tem cells and the pathogenesis of T1D.

Ther Clin Risk Manag

March 2021

Department of Ophthalmology, Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, Hubei, People's Republic of China.

Background: The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) have been used as indicators of inflammation, however, their roles in dry eye disease (DED) patients require advanced study.

Materials And Methods: A total of 104 DED cases and 97 healthy controls from January 2020 to May 2020 were enrolled in this study. The dry eye related clinical variables, including Schirmer I test, tear break-up time (TBUT), corneal fluorescein staining (CFS) and Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI), were detected in all the participants.
