Schizophrenia (SCZ) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) are complex polygenic disorders with brain morphology abnormalities. The etiologies and relationship of both disorders remain elusive, and should be further investigated. Thus, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) were generated from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from an OCD patient, his mother with SCZ and his healthy father with reprograming method.

Previous studies have explored resting-state functional connectivity (rs-FC) of the amygdala in patients with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). However, it remains unclear whether there are frequency-specific FC alterations of the amygdala in ASD and whether FC in specific frequency bands can be used to distinguish patients with ASD from typical controls (TCs). Data from 306 patients with ASD and 314 age-matched and sex-matched TCs were collected from 28 sites in the Autism Brain Imaging Data Exchange database.

The large number of microbes found in the gut are involved in various critical biological processes in the human body and have dynamic and complex interactions with the immune system. Disruptions in the host's gut microbiota and the metabolites produced during fermentation promote the development of intestinal inflammation and colorectal cancer (CRC). Toll-like receptors (TLRs) recognize specific microbial-associated molecular patterns specific to microorganisms whose signaling is involved in maintaining intestinal homeostasis or, under certain conditions, mediating dysbiosis-associated intestinal inflammation.

Background: Endoscopic screening is the widely accepted screening strategy for esophageal squmaous cell carcinoma (ESCC). However, massive endoscopic screening is expensive and not cost-efficient, and novel pre-endoscopy detection used as a preliminary screening method arouses new concerns. We are planning to launch an artificial intelligence (AI) assisted sponge cytology for detecting esophageal squmaous high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (HGIN) and above lesions.

Background: Transient ischemic attack (TIA) is a known risk factor for stroke. Abnormal alterations in the low-frequency range of the gray matter (GM) of the brain have been studied in patients with TIA. However, whether there are abnormal neural activities in the low-frequency range of the white matter (WM) in patients with TIA remains unknown.

Exosomes are critical mediators of intercellular communication. Exosomal circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been reported to play critical roles in the development of chemoresistance in various tumors, including gastric cancer. However, the role of exosomal circ_0063526 in cisplatin (CDDP) resistance of gastric cancer is still unclear.

As a developmental disorder, autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has drawn much attention due to its severe impacts on one's language capacity. Broca's area, an important brain region of the language network, is largely involved in language-related functions. Using the Autism Brain Image Data Exchange (ABIDE) dataset, a mega-analysis was performed involving a total of 1454 participants (including 618 individuals with ASD and 836 healthy controls (HCs).

Purpose: Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is one of the leading causes of low-back pain and results in a series of clinical symptoms, including pain, reflex loss, and muscle weakness. Spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) can relieve pain and promote internal and external stabilization of the lumbar spine. In this study, we investigated whether the brain alterations of LDH patients with SMT were frequency-dependent based on the calculation of Amplitude of Low-Frequency Fluctuations (ALFF) and fractional ALFF (fALFF).

Background: Hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH) is a common complication of chronic lung disease, which severely affects the survival and prognosis of patients. Several recent reports have shown that DNA damage and repair plays a crucial role in pathogenesis of pulmonary arterial hypertension. DNA-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (DNA-PKcs) as a part of DNA-PK is a molecular sensor for DNA damage that enhances DSB repair.

Two Cu(II) compounds based on tetrazole-carboxylate ligands, [Cu(phtza)(HO)]∙3HO () and [Cu(atzipa)]∙2HO () (phtza = 2,2'-(5,5'-(1,3-phenylene)bis(2-tetrazole-5,2-diyl))diacetate, atzipa = 3-(5-amino-1-tetrazol-1-yl)isopropanoic anion), were designed and synthesized by hydrothermal reactions. The X-ray diffraction results show that the two compounds show two-dimensional (2D) layer structures. Nanoprecipitation with 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[methoxy(polyethylene glycol)] (DSPE-PEG) contributes to the formation of the nanoparticles (NPs) with excellent water dispersity.

Objective: To explore the role and mechanism of interleukin-8-mediated autophagy regulation of gastric cancer (GC) cells in GC.
Methods: After cell culture, the SGC7901 cell line was separated into the control group and IL-8 (20 ng/mL) group, IL-8 (40 ng/mL) group, and IL-8 (60 ng/mL) group, to verify the effects of the PI3K/Akt signal path on the modulation of autophagy in GC cells. Western blot detected autophagy markers, ATG12-ATG5 complexes, autophagy-associated pathways, and apoptosis-associated factors in GC cells.

Magnesium is essential for material and energy metabolism. The magnesium depletion score (MDS) is recognized as a more valuable and reliable predictor of body magnesium status than any other clinical used markers such as serum and urine magnesium. However, research on the relationship between MDS and diabetic retinopathy (DR) is limited.

Background: Myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) is the most common and dominant inherited neuromuscular dystrophy disease in adults, involving multiple organs, including the brain. Although structural measurements showed that DM1 is predominantly associated with white-matter damage, they failed to reveal the dysfunction of the white-matter. Recent studies have demonstrated that the functional activity of white-matter is of great significance and has given us insights into revealing the mechanisms of brain disorders.

Stroke, the leading cause of long-term disability worldwide, is caused by the blockage or hemorage of cerebral arteries. The resultant cerebral ischemia causes local neuronal death and brain injury. Histone deacetylase 9 (HDAC9) has been reported to be elevated in ischemic brain injury, but its mechanism in stroke is still enigmatic.

Social function impairment is the core deficit of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Although many studies have investigated ASD through a variety of neuroimaging tools, its brain mechanism of social function remains unclear due to its complex and heterogeneous symptoms. The present study aimed to use resting-state functional magnetic imaging data to explore effective connectivity between the right temporoparietal junction (RTPJ), one of the key brain regions associated with social impairment of individuals with ASD, and the whole brain to further deepen our understanding of the neuropathological mechanism of ASD.

The crucial effect of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-induced vascular angiogenesis has been well known in corneal neovascularization (CNV). This research aimed to determine the underlying value and mechanism of Meg3 on CNV in vivo and in vitro. In an alkali-burned mouse model, length and area of new vessels were increased along with thinning of corneal epithelium, accompanied by the overexpression of Meg3.
