Background: Due to its widespread prevalence, migraine is a common neurovascular condition that has a major impact on people's health and quality of life. Rutaecarpine (RUT) is one of the main effective components of Evodia rutaecarpa, which has a wide range of biological activities. However, the exact mechanism by which RUT improves migraine remain unknown.

Background: Radical cystectomy and urinary diversion are the standard surgical treatments for patients with muscle-invasive or high-risk, or recurrent non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Although this approach significantly prolongs patient survival, it can lead to postoperative complications. This study aims to compare the efficacy and complications of bilateral cutaneous ureterostomy with a single subumbilical stoma to those of cutaneous ureterostomy with two stomas and an ileal conduit as a means of urinary diversion after radical cystectomy.

11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11β-HSD1) is a key enzyme that transform cortisone to cortisol, which activates the endogenous glucocorticoid function. 11β-HSD1 has been observed to regulate skeletal metabolism, specifically within osteoblasts. However, the function of 11β-HSD1 in osteoclasts has not been elucidated.

Background: The in vitro stability assessment is essential for investigating the diagnostic accuracy of pleural biomarkers. This study aimed to investigate the long-term stability of pleural fluid carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) at -80°C to -70°C. In addition, we analyzed the effects of frozen storage on the diagnostic accuracy of CEA for malignant pleural effusion (MPE).

Background: The use of artificial intelligence (AI) assisted white light imaging (WLI) detection systems for superficial esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SESCC) is limited by training with images from one specific endoscopy platform.
Methods: In this study, we developed an AI system with a convolutional neural network (CNN) model using WLI images from Olympus and Fujifilm endoscopy platforms. The training dataset consisted of 5892 WLI images from 1283 patients, and the validation dataset included 4529 images from 1224 patients.

Histone lysine demethylases (KDMs) have been reported in various malignances, which affect transcriptional regulation of tumor suppressor or oncogenes. However, the relationship between KDMs and formation of tumor microenvironment (TME) in gastric cancer (GC) remain unclear and need to be comprehensively analyzed. In the present study, 24 KDMs were obtained and consensus molecular subtyping was performed using the "NMF" method to stratify TCGA-STAD into three clusters.

Recent studies have found that hypoxia contributes to tumor progression and drug resistance by inducing the secretion of exosomes. However, the mechanism underlying this resistance in pancreatic cancer remains to be explored. In this study, we investigated the effect of hypoxia-induced tumor-derived exosomes (Hexo) on stemness and resistance to gemcitabine in pancreatic cancer cells, as well as the molecular mechanisms involved in this process.

Gluconeogenesis is the main process for endogenous glucose production during prolonged fasting, or certain pathological conditions, which occurs primarily in the liver. Hepatic gluconeogenesis is a biochemical process that is finely controlled by hormones such as insulin and glucagon, and it is of great importance for maintaining normal physiological blood glucose levels. Dysregulated gluconeogenesis induced by obesity is often associated with hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, and type 2 diabetes (T2D).

Cross-modal correspondence has been consistently evidenced between shapes and other sensory attributes. Especially, the curvature of shapes may arouse the affective account, which may contribute to understanding the mechanism of cross-modal integration. Hence, the current study used the functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) technique to examine brain activity's specificity when people view circular and angular shapes.

Purpose: Investigating the changes of regional homogeneity (ReHo) values and both static and dynamic functional connectivity (FC) before and after Traditional Chinese Manual Therapy (Tuina) in patients with lumbar disk herniation (LDH) through resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (RS-fMRI). Based on this, we observe the effect of Tuina on the above abnormal changes.
Methods: Patients with LDH ( = 27) and healthy controls (HCs) ( = 28) were recruited.

Introduction: Hyperkalaemia (HK) is a potentially life-threatening electrolyte imbalance associated with several adverse clinical outcomes. The efficacy and negative effects of currently existing treatment options have made HK management questionable. Sodium zirconium cyclosilicate (SZC), a novel highly selective potassium binder, is approved for the treatment of HK.

Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effects of applying internal fixation with a T-shaped locking plate that was used on the distal radius in fractures of the anterior process of the calcaneus (APC) with calcaneocuboid (CC) joint injury.
Methods: This retrospective study enrolled adult patients diagnosed with APC with CC joint injury that had received internal fixation with a T-shaped locking plate of the distal radius. Group NA underwent open reduction with 'not-across' CC joint plate fixation; and group A underwent open reduction with 'across' CC joint locking plate fixation.

Taste perception has been deeply explored from the behavioural level to delineating neural mechanisms. However, most previous studies about the neural underpinnings of taste perception have focused on task-related brain activation. Notably, evidence indicates that task-induced brain activation often involves interference from irrelevant task materials and only accounts for a small fraction of the brain's energy consumption.

poorly cohesive (PC) gastric cancer (GC) (PC-GC) is a distinct histological subtype of GC and is defined as a tumor consisting of isolated or small clusters of tumor cells with poorly differentiated and metastatic characteristics. According to multiple studies, PC-GC is intrinsically heterogeneous, with mesenchymal variants being the most aggressive. However, to date, the molecular mechanisms associated with PC-GC are still not fully understood.

Inflammation is a common feature both for Parkinson's disease (PD) and obesity-associated metabolic syndromes. Inflammation mediated by inflamed macrophages in white adipose tissue plays a pivotal role for the pathogenesis of metabolic syndromes. Exosomes are important carriers connecting peripheral tissues and the central nervous system (CNS).

Background Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD), the massive lymphadenopathy characterized by the proliferation of sinus histiocytosis, is a relatively idiopathic benign disease with unknown etiology. We reported a rare case of thymic RDD detected by F-FDG PET/CT. A 23-year-old man with right-sided chest pain underwent F-FDG PET/CT scan, showing increased F-FDG uptake in an anterior mediastinal mass corresponding to a thymic lesion at an enhanced CT scan.
