Maintenance of mitochondrial homeostasis is crucial for ensuring healthy mitochondria and normal cellular function. This process is primarily responsible for regulating processes that include mitochondrial OXPHOS, which generates ATP, as well as mitochondrial oxidative stress, apoptosis, calcium homeostasis, and mitophagy. Bone mesenchymal stem cells express factors that aid in bone formation and vascular growth.

Dietary fat intake is associated with an increased risk of colitis associated cancer (CAC). A high-fat diet (HFD) leads to systemic low-grade inflammation. The colon is believed to be the first organ suffering from inflammation caused by the infiltration of pro-inflammatory macrophages, and promotes CAC progression.

Gut microbiome causal impacts on the prognosis of breast cancer: a Mendelian randomization study.

BMC Genomics

August 2023

General Surgery, Cancer Center, Department of Breast Surgery, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital (Affiliated People's Hospital), Hangzhou Medical College, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, 310000, China.

Background: Growing evidence has shown that gut microbiome composition is associated with breast cancer (BC), but the causality remains unknown. We aimed to investigate the link between BC prognosis and the gut microbiome at various oestrogen receptor (ER) statuses.

Methods: We performed a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to analyse the gut microbiome of BC patients, the dataset for which was collected by the Breast Cancer Association Consortium (BCAC).

Background: N6-methyladenosine (m6A), 5-methylcytosine (m5C) and N1-methyladenosine (m1A) are the main RNA methylation modifications involved in the progression of cancer. However, it is still unclear whether RNA methylation-related long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) affect the prognosis of glioma.

Methods: We summarized 32 m6A/m5C/m1A-related genes and downloaded RNA-seq data and clinical information from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database.

The correlation among gut microbiota, biochemical features, and dietary patterns in recurrent stone formers has been inadequately investigated in the Chinese population. Forty-two patients with calcium oxalate stones (CaOxS group), including 34 recurrent stone formers (RS group), and 40 nonstone healthy subjects (NS group) from Changshu Hospital Affiliated with Soochow University, were prospectively recruited. Food frequency questionnaires were completed by participants, fasting vein blood was extracted, 24-h urine was collected for biochemical detection, and fecal samples were gathered for 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene sequencing.

The traditional surgical methods to the fracture of the inferior patellar fracture include steel wire tension band fixation and inferior patellar resection, which have many disadvantages. In order to overcome the disadvantages of traditional surgery, we innovated and improved the double row anchor suture bridge technology to the treat the inferior patellar fracture. This study is to investigate the method, technique and clinical efficacy of double-row anchor suture bridge technique in the treatment of inferior pole fractures of patella.

Background: As the efficacy of programmed cell death-1/programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-1/PD-L1) inhibitors combined with chemotherapy in curing breast cancer is still controversial, this meta-analysis compares the efficacy and safety of PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors combined with chemotherapy and chemotherapy alone in the treatment of breast cancer, which provides guidance for the clinical treatment.

Methods: Relevant studies published as of April 2022 in the various databases including EMBASE, PubMed, and Cochrane Library were selected. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in which control patients underwent chemotherapy alone and experimental group patients underwent combination chemotherapy and PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor treatment were included in this investigation.

General Surgery, Cancer Center, Department of Breast Surgery, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, Affiliated People's Hospital, Hangzhou Medical College, Hangzhou 310014, China; Key Laboratory for diagnosis and treatment of upper limb edema and stasis of breast cancer, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, Affiliated People's Hospital, Hangzhou Medical College, Hangzhou 310014, China. Electronic address:

Chemotherapy remains a critical component of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) treatment; however, patients often develop resistance to chemotherapeutic agents. Accumulating evidence indicates that deubiquitylases (DUBs) play pivotal roles in regulating cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and tumorigenesis. Deubiquitylase OTUD1 is considered a tumor suppressor in various cancers, yet its role in doxorubicin sensitivity in breast cancer patients remains inadequately understood.
