Acute myeloid leukemia (AML), which is most common in adults, is a challenging hematological malignancy. The occurrence and the progression of AML are often accompanied by various gene fusions and/or mutations. Herein, we report the first case of a fusion transcript with a translocation of (1;12)(q25;p13) in AML progressed from myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) combined with an -ITD (internal tandem duplication) mutation.

Observational studies have shown an association between childhood sunburn occasions (CSOs) and melanoma (MIS). However, these studies have shown contradictory results. Here, we used a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) method to make a causal inference between CSOs and melanoma at the genetic level.

Background: There is currently no accurate, readily available, or validated biomarker for assessing disease severity and survival outcomes in sepsis-induced acute kidney injury (SAKI), which limits the ability to conduct effective therapeutic interventions. The neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) may be involved in the pathophysiology of SAKI. The present study investigated the predictive value of plasma NETs for the survival outcome of patients with SAKI.

Oxidative stress injury in osteoblasts is one of the leading causes of periprosthetic osteolysis (PPOL). Acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellia acid (AKBA) has been used as an antioxidant in the treatment of various diseases, but its antioxidant mechanism in osteolysis has yet to be elucidated. In this study, a mouse cranial osteolysis model was constructed, and MC3T3-E1 cells and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) were cultured in vitro.

Background: Although capsule endoscopy (CE) is a crucial tool for diagnosing small bowel diseases, the need to process a vast number of images imposes a significant workload on physicians, leading to a high risk of missed diagnoses. This study aims to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) model and application based on convolutional neural networks that can automatically recognize various lesions in small bowel capsule endoscopy.
Methods: Three small bowel capsule endoscopy datasets were used for AI model training, validation, and testing, encompassing 12 categories of images.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Breast cancer (BC) has an extremely high global incidence rate. The Xihuang pill (XHP), a traditional Chinese formula, originates from Hongxu Wang's "Life-Saving Manual of Diagnosis and Treatment of External Diseases" written during the Qing Dynasty. In this book, XHP, was first suggested as an anticancer treatment for BC.

Hydrogels made of plant-derived biomass have gained popularity in biomedical applications because they are frequently affordable, readily available, and biocompatible. Finding the perfect plant-derived biomass-based hydrogels for biomedicine that can replicate essential characteristics of human tissues in regard to structure, function, and performance has proved to be difficult. In this review, we summarize some of the major contributions made to this topic, covering basic ideas and different biomass-based hydrogels made of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin.

Periprosthetic osteolysis (PPO), caused by wear particles, is a significant complication of total joint replacement, leading to prosthesis failure. Previous research has highlighted the crucial role of osteoclast-induced bone destruction in PPO progression. Albiflorin (AF), a monoterpene glycoside from Paeonia lactiflora, is a key active ingredient known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Breast cancer (BC) is a prevalent cancer of the female reproductive system and a major contributor to cancer-related mortality. The activation of NLRP3, a key inflammasome, has been extensively associated with tumor-related molecular and cellular processes; however, the regulatory mechanisms and specific role of NLRP3 in breast cancer remain incompletely elucidated. This study aimed to evaluate the molecular mechanisms of NLRP3-related genes in BC.

Osteoporosis (OP) is a disorder of bone remodeling caused by an imbalance between bone resorption by osteoclasts and bone formation by osteoblasts. Therefore, inhibiting excessive osteoclast activity is one of the promising strategies for treating OP. A major transient receptor potential cation channel, known as transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1), was found to alleviate joint pain and cartilage degeneration in osteoarthritis.

Breast cancer is a major public health concern worldwide, being the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women and a leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Recent studies have highlighted the significance of non-histone methylation in breast cancer, which modulates the activity, interaction, localization, and stability of target proteins. This regulation affects critical processes such as oncogenesis, tumor growth, proliferation, invasion, migration, and immune responses.
