High-precision docking of wheelchair/beds through LIDAR and visual information.

Front Bioeng Biotechnol

September 2024

Hunan Victor Petrotech Service Co., Ltd., Changsha, China.

To address the low docking accuracy of existing robotic wheelchair/beds, this study proposes an automatic docking framework integrating light detection and ranging (LIDAR), visual positioning, and laser ranging. First, a mobile chassis was designed for an intelligent wheelchair/bed with independent four-wheel steering. In the remote guidance phase, the simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) algorithm was employed to construct an environment map, achieving remote guidance and obstacle avoidance through the integration of LIDAR, inertial measurement unit (IMU), and an improved A* algorithm.

Key Laboratory of Cultivation and Protection for Non-Wood Forest Trees, Ministry of Education, Central South University of Forestry and Technology, Changsha, China.

Article Synopsis
  • This study focuses on the mitochondrial genome of a hexaploid Camellia oil tree, revealing its circular structure of 709,596 base pairs and identifying 74 annotated genes.
  • Using bioinformatics techniques, researchers found significant similarities in gene composition and sequences among the mitochondrial genomes of the Camellia species and three other Theaceae family members.
  • The results highlight conservation of specific gene pairs across 20 species and suggest a consistent phylogenetic classification based on the variations in the nad5 gene, setting the groundwork for future research on plant mitochondrial genomes.

July 2024

School of Engineering and Computer Science, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield AL10 9AB, United Kingdom.

Electromagnetic radiation (EMR) affects the dynamical behavior of the nervous system, and appropriate EMR helps to study the dynamic mechanism of the nervous system. This paper uses a sophisticated four-dimensional Hopfield neural network (HNN) model augmented with one or more memristors to simulate the effects of EMR. We focus on the chaotic dynamics of HNN under the influence of EMR.

Background: Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) remains a deadly disease with a poor prognosis. Here, we identified the ETS homologous factor (EHF) and its target Filamin-B (FLNB) as molecules related to immune evasion in ccRCC. We also explored the upstream modifier that manipulates EHF in ccRCC.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: WuHuTang (WHT) is a traditional Chinese medicine compound for treating asthma, and the evidence supports that it has a good effect on acute asthma attacks in children and adults. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is an important factor in the pathogenesis of acute asthma attacks, and the effect on dendritic cells is the key to its pathogenesis. Previous studies have confirmed that the pathogenesis of viruses is related to exosomes.

Comparison of the safety and efficacy of robotic natural orifice specimen extraction surgery and conventional robotic colorectal cancer resection: a propensity score matching study.

J Robot Surg

April 2024

Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, The Second Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Renmin Middle Road 139, Changsha, 410000, Hunan, China.

Robotic resection is widely used to treat colorectal cancer. Although the novel natural orifice specimen extraction surgery (NOSES) results in less trauma, its safety and effectiveness are relatively unknown. In the present study, we used propensity score matching to compare the effectiveness and safety of NOSES and robotic resection for treating colorectal cancer.

This study aimed to determine the effects of Xiebai Zengye decoction (XBZY) on airway inflammation and respiratory function in rats with postinfectious cough (PIC), and its regulatory effects on the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) signaling pathway. Compared with the normal group, the rats from the PIC group had significantly shortened expiratory time (TE) and enhanced pause (EEP), increased resistance (RT), and enhanced pause (Penh), along with increased levels of serum interleukin-4 (IL-4) and IL-6, and decreased levels of IL-10. The lung and colon tissues of rats from the PIC group showed histopathological changes, including inflammatory cell infiltration, damaged mucosal epithelium, and crypt structure, with significantly increased ERK mRNA and protein expression levels.
