Insulin-delivery methods for children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes.

Ther Adv Endocrinol Metab

May 2020

Hunan Key Laboratory of Biological Nanomaterials and Devices, School of Life Sciences and Chemistry, Hunan University of Technology, Hunan, Zhuzhou 412007, PR China.

Efforts directed toward restoring normal metabolic levels by mimicking the physiological insulin secretion, thereby ensuring safety, efficacy, minimal invasiveness and conveniences, are of great significance in the management of type 1 diabetes among children and adolescents. Regardless of the various technologies being discovered in addressing invasiveness and enhancing medication adherence in the management of type 1 diabetes, yet limited success had been observed among children and adolescents. The multiple daily subcutaneous insulin injections route using vial and syringe, and occasionally insulin pens, remain the most predictable route for insulin administration among children and adolescents.

Respiratory Medicine, Hunan Provincial People's Hospital, No. 61 Jiefang Xi Road, Changsha, 410219, Hunan, PR China; Institute of Respiratory Medicine, Changsha Medical College, No. 1501 Leifeng Road, Changsha, 410219, Hunan, PR China. Electronic address:

The present study was designed to explore the role of transient receptor potential canonical 3 (TRPC3) in nicotine-induced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and its underlying mechanism. In this study, the expression and localization of α5 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α5-nAchR) in lung tissues were determined by western blotting and immunohistochemistry. The quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis was performed to examine the mRNA expression levels of α5-nAchR and TRPC3 in human airway smooth muscle cells (HASMCs).

Topotecan prevents hypoxia-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension and inhibits hypoxia-inducible factor-1α and TRPC channels.

Int J Biochem Cell Biol

November 2018

Respiratory Medicine, Hunan Provincial People's Hospital, Changsha, PR China; Institute of Respiratory Medicine, Changsha Medical College, Changsha, PR China. Electronic address:

Background: This study aimed to investigate the effects of topotecan (TPT) on the hypoxia-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in a rat model, and to explore the underlying mechanism.

Methods: The experiments were carried out in vitro using rat PASMCs and in vivo using a rat model of hypoxia-induced PAH.

Results: TPT significantly suppressed the hypoxia-induced upregulation of HIF-1α and TRPC1/4/6 expression both in pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cells (PASMCs) from normal rats and in pulmonary arteries from PAH model rats.

Puerarin (PUE) is the most abundant isoflavonoid in kudzu root. It is widely used as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. However, the short elimination half-life, poor-bioavailability, and acute intravascular hemolysis of PUE are the main obstacles to its widespread clinical applications.

Two-pore channels mediated receptor-operated Ca entry in pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells in response to hypoxia.

Int J Biochem Cell Biol

April 2018

Respiratory Medicine, Hunan Provincial People's Hospital, Changsha 410219, PR China; Institute of Respiratory Medicine, Changsha Medical College, Changsha 410219, PR China. Electronic address:

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of two-pore channels mediated receptor-operated Ca entry on pulmonary arterial smooth muscle cell (PASMC) under hypoxia conditions. PASMCs were separated using the direct adherent culture method. The cultured cells were observed under optic microscope and the phenotypes of cells were identified by immunohistochemistry.

[Analysis of Gene Mutation Types of Thalassemia in Longyan Area of Fujian Province in China].

Zhongguo Shi Yan Xue Ye Xue Za Zhi

April 2017

Central Laboratory, Longyan First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University, Longyan First Hospital of Fujian Province, Longyan 364000, Fujian Province, China.

Objective: To explore the type and distribution of thalassemia gene mutation in Longyan area of Fujian province in China, so as to provide a evidence for prenatal diagnosis and to reduce birth defects.

Methods: The mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) and hemoglobin electrophoresis were used for screened the mutation types of thalassemia. Genotyping of the screened positive sample was performed by gap single polymerase chain reaction (gap-PCR) and reverse dot blot hybridization (RDB).

A mesoporous bioactive glass (MBG) surface modified with poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) electrospun fibrous scaffold for bone regeneration was prepared by dip-coating a PLGA electrospun fibrous scaffold into MBG precursor solution. Different surface structures and properties were acquired by different coating times. Surface morphology, chemical composition, microstructure, pore size distribution, and hydrophilicity of the PLGA-MBG scaffold were characterized.

A liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method was developed and validated for the quantification of erythromycylamine, which is the predominant active metabolite of dirithromycin in human plasma. After solid-phase extraction, the analyte and internal standard (IS) were separated by using an isocratic mobile phase consisting of 20 mM ammonium acetate (pH 3.9, adjusted with formic acid)-acetonitrile (75:25, v/v) on a Phenyl-Hexyl column (150 × 2.

Objective: To investigate the effect and mechanism of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) based vector mediated interlukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1Rα) gene for knee osteoarthritis in rabbits.

Methods: HSV-1 vectors containing IL-1Rα genes were constructed and injected into the joint space of the osteoarthritis knee in rabbits for 4 weeks. The rabbits were sacrificed, and the knees were lavaged, dissected and the effect of transgene expression was analyzed.
